Tatiana learned how to do that by yelling at cars passing on a highway and yelling into her pillow at home (not kidding)

She said in an interview that it took her 5yrs to develop the technique. She also said that her growl voice is constantly changes over time.

i luv the drummer n bassist how during the verse's they play more melodic n chill then switch it up to more heavy n intense during the chorus when Tatianna does her false chord screaming.

so, the thoughts on the growling sounding masculine is interesting because she said in an interview that people thought her growls were too feminine, so she practiced and practiced for hours on end to emulate more of a masculine growl.

So much fun to watch! Tatiana is a Pisces. The song is about swimming upstream looking for light and love only to be caught and killed by handsome butchers. When the war in their home Ukraine started they all volunteered. They were told to continue touring and support the cause. Should have kept her. She would have won some battles just by scaring the hell out of the enemy. BTW you two are so pretty. But I’m 75 and tired of young hotties lusting after my body alla time so don’t get any ideas.😊

Hello Stacey and Amy, Tatiana once said in an interview that the group Guano Apes, especially the singer Sandra Nasić, was one of her biggest role models and as a young girl she wanted to become to a such strong singer. You mention switch, I have seen Jinjer 3 times live, very close to the stage, and Tati's switches look effortless, and the entire band are insanely talented.
I've introduced a few people to this song and everyone is... surprised! Always fun to watch a person's first exposure to the "metal voice"!
To Amy's point, there is some vocal layering towards the end that makes it sound like there are multiple people singing at the same time.

When you say "it sounds like 2 people" - in some places there is an overlaid track, mostly in the guttural bits especially at the end, but occasionally in the clean as well, so it's effectively her singing 2 parts, just one is pre-recorded, and the other is live

I just went to a Jinjer concert this past Thursday 4/25 and they put on a great show.

She was inspired to learn harsh vocals after a friend showed her Otep. Otep Shamaya was an early pioneer among female vocalists doing harsh vocals. You might want to check out some Otep songs?

Tatiana is unique, but not the only singer that does this. I think your sister would love to listen to Melissa Bonny of Ad Infinitum. The song Upside Down has a Europop metal sound and she also growls at times. The other band to listen to would be Arch Enemy, a death metal band with the incredible singer, Alissa White-Gluz. The song, Handshake with Hell, shows all parts of her voice.

I watched this yesterday but got distracted by a Chrono Trigger stream lol. First time reactions to this song is always great. I could recommend many more in the style but I gotta put the best suggestion first and that's definitely The Warning probably their newer song Automatic Sun, but literally any of their songs will do great on your channel.

You should show her “Wallflower” or “I Speak Astronomy”. Tati’s beautiful clean voice really shines in those songs.

There was vocal layering added to this in post (per the video description) which is probably what Amy is noticing. That said, since growling/screaming tone isn't much determined by gender (though the size of the resonant cavities do play a role in how low one can go) someone's growling tone seems to be more a matter of their personality than anything else and Tati has a pronounced tomboy side that I think she channels into her growls.

There is multiple layer of her voice as backing in some part of the song part of the post prod...that said it's still her voice and she can growl like a beast no doubt about that..I saw them live.

Also, they doubled her vocals in certain parts to “ fill out” the vocal screams” a bit more ( the “ double voice” you mentioned)- but all Tatiana regardless. Hope it opens your eyes to this genre of music a bit more, as there is just so much talent out there to explore!
Omg this was so cute and awesome! She needs to see Perennial @ Wacken 🤩 When she mentioned that it sounds like there are 2 people screaming I noticed there were a couple of parts in the video where Tatiana has doubled the vocals post recording.
Interestingly if you listen to the drums in this video, versus the drums on the album, the drum pattern (specifically the bass drum) is different.
Aimee's comment that many female Harsh Vocalists often still sound like women in there screams is interesting, because Tatiana deliberately wanted that NOT to be the case when she was learning to growl, and clearly she succeeded. Another thing I find incredible about Tatiana's harsh vocals is how well they are to understand (also something she strives for, since she writes the lyrics and really wants them to be understood)

The muscles used for the "growl" are the same muscle group used when babies scream for seeming hours without losing their voice. I taught my wife, who was already a metal fans when we met so many years ago, how to use those muscles. She is now a powerful growler with a pretty good range.
Other than Tatiana, another prime example of growling/screaming range is Battlecross - Push, Pull, Destroy. Enjoy!
