The amount of guns that you guys are able to fish out of that river is starting to be suspicious 😂😂
We we have found them in three different rivers but, I'm sure something shady has happened with a couple of them. thanks for watching
It's free
@@argiewithagun1286 i agree.
this one seems like somebody had accidentally dropped it in there and it was probably just one of those guns that most gun owners have that they used to test new ammo in in case it breaks a gun they don't want broken due to the duct tape the poor condition of it and the fact that they didn't care enough to fish it out
Suspicious. Sounds like you have found somebody's dumping ground. They steal it; use it in a crime and dump it in a river where they think nobody will find it. Keep up the good work guys.
You guys need to invest in some evaporust. Awesome stuff.
I have actually used of apple rust numerous times I actually just got done trying to use it on a handgun that I found but it’s not cutting it so I am going to be doing electrolysis on this one
I love these videos, I'm doing restorations on guns myself and it's addictive
I'm glad you like them and yes it is very addictive and thanks for watching
Nice. I'd weld over the firing pin hole on the breech face too, just so a new firing pin couldn't be installed.
Yes exactly great idea and I welded the barrel to the receiver but still could do that well not really because I can’t get in there
i should get into magnet fishing
Ya its fun, we don't magnet fish anymore though. Thanks for watching!
Cool sheriff tbh
Oh yea for sure he was really nice.
beautiful work. you did an alsome job. it well make a great wall hanger.
yes it is a pretty cool piece to have
Can't really call it a restoration when you have permanently decommissioned it when y'all chopped the firing pin....
That's what was required by the sheriffs department. thanks for watching
@@TheKinzlerBros I get that, but it's not as difficult as you think to get a form 1 to register an SBS. I would have loved to see that functional. In the future, if you run into a firearm like that, before you restore it Form 1 it. Cuz that shorty is gorgeous. Seeing it permanently disabled is so sad
@@rustyshackleford8637 It has so much rust damage it's probably too weakened to be fired anyway. I know I wouldn't feel safe firing it.
Oh no... that part could never be fabricated.
@@rustyshackleford8637 it's so rusty the barrel is quite ruined,i would buy a brand new single shot shotgun and chop it up if you want a short barrel shotgun
I've made firing pins identical to that one, to fit various other shotguns. It's a cinch. Give me a couple of files, hacksaw, and an electric drill for a lathe,
vice, and an old bolt. Also, a propane torch for heat treating. Takes maybe 45 minutes, if that.
I know I agree with you but if I have it welded closed it makes it a little harder to swap out the pins.
Sounds like you would need quite a few things and significant time with it alone to get it working again. thanks for watching
Spare probably parts aren't to uncommon...
Amazing job, guys! I really appreciate the fact that you are so thorough and your eye for detail. Looking forward to your next video 👍🏻
thank you Christian for being so nice with your comment!
Next time try soaking all rusty metal parts in Brake Fluid. Let it soak for 10days to 2 weeks and all rust will be gone. Works great.
sounds like a good idea thank you
I need to go magnet fishing right now
Yes you do it is a blast
Great restoration, must feel good to restore a magnet fishing treasure. Super eye for assembly details and ya don't have to "fight the law" cause ya asked the Sheriff - get the pun? 😁😁
thanks for watching very much!
Wire brush? I’m glad your time is spent on junk. What your doing won’t kill rust.
Thanks for the tip and for watching!
As long as the length of the smooth bore barrel is at least 16" long from the edge of the chamber to the end of the muzzle, it is totally legal to not only own, but fire as well. And I have to say it looks at least that long. And if there is actual rifling inside the barrel, than any length of barrel is legal. Those are the ATF rules and laws. JMHO
Thanks for the info, much appreciated and thanks for watching
That’s not right. 18.5” barrel for smooth bore over all 26”
Nope, for shotguns according to NFA 18”. Most bright people cut them 1/2” long to prevent any borderline disputes.
Doesn't it have to be like that from the factory? (ex. Mossberg shockwave), and if you cut it yourself it turns into an sbs? I could be wrong
For a shotgun the barrel has to be 18 inches and if not it is an NFA violation and considered a short barreled shotgun and a Felony to possess.
I need to do this now. Free guns! Well done! >:0
Thanks so much
Shotgun found in river within throwing distance from the road… you just found evidence my friend 🤣
Possibly but no way to run ballistics sense shotguns do not have rifling also I did run the serial number through the police database came up with nothing and what else can you do unless there was first hand account of a crime being committed that has a description of the firearm to be specific enough to identify as the shotgun thanks for watching
Nice !!! Thanks for sharing the restoration. I appreciate being able to see what happens to your finds
thanks for watching the restoration.
Super!!! 👍👍👍
Thank you! Thanks for watching
Wow your patience and eye for details !!
.!
Well thank you Judy we appreciate that!
“Today, on another Discarded Murder Weapon Restoration…”
Thanks for watching
Great restoration however the destruction of the firing pin was painful to watch
Thank you very much, I know but I had to do it , thanks for watching
If you can find a replacement forend you can find a replacement fireing pin. This is not demilled per ATF spec and is still a illegal sbs. Will ever be an issue. Probably not. Just a cool old wall hanger.
It got welded but, I hear you. Thanks for watching!
I am just now completing a restoration on an old H&R 20 ga. single shot. Mine wasn't as rusty as yours but it did have some serious rust scabs on it along with some sort of glue that once held some plastic front and rear sights. The stock and forearm had several dents and scratches as it was used for hunting for many years. People usually don't take care of a single shot, they use and abuse them.
I used a orbital sander on the barrel to remove the rust, then a buffing wheel and a polishing wheel. I blued the barrel which turned out very nice. and I sanded the stock and forearm until they were baby butt smooth. Re-stained (red mahogany) them and finished them with a satin finish. I must say, it turned out very nice and I'm going to keep it. I love single shot shotguns. The simplicity of them make them a cheap gun to purchase and usually there is never any thing wrong with the works of the gun, just have to make them look like new.
That is awesome and it sounds like you did a great job restoring it the right way,, we appreciate the comment and feedback. thanks for watching Gene
Restoration 7/10
Thank You Seba me
Shelf leveling primer and flat black
Thanks for the suggestions and for watching
Other Magnet Fishermen (To TKB): "What do you do with your spare time when the weather's so cold?"
TKB: "Weeeeell, ya know ..."
Honestly, bravo on the restorations, this one was especially fun. I don't think I've seen any other magnet fishermen taking these extra steps to make their finds such attractive showpieces.
Thanks Athelwulf we appreciate the love. Ya I don't think so, when we find a gun or a cool piece we like to bring it back to life! thanks for watching!
Good job gentleman.
thanks Don the next restoration is the Ruger!
Pretty cool! First time of the two times we ever went magnet fishing my son pulled a sawed off gun out of the river. It was in pretty bad shape.
oh really did you just throw it away?
@@TheKinzlerBros No. He took it home with him.
Amazing. The Forearm stock could have been shaved down a bit but incredible work nonetheless
Yes it could have been but I liked putting a bigger one on as well
The fact that the gun could be put into firing order with the addition of a new firing pin....I'd bet that that gun could result in a federal gun violation charge. Barrel is shorter than 18 inches, and total length from end of barrel to grip is less than 26 inches...both of which are violations of the NFA. If I were you, I'd weld the barrel to the main part of the frame, weld the trigger and hammer to be inoperable...in other words...make the gun totally and fully inoperable.
totally agreed i only welded the barrel closed.
non functioning.
I was thinking the same thing. It most likely used in committing a crime also.
Should be legal since it has a pistol grip
@@TheKinzlerBros Do you have a dog? If so you need to go check on it. I'm sure the ATF saw this video. In all seriousness though, if you plugged the barrel you are probably fine.
Honestly I don’t understand why you don’t have more subs...common people!!!!
yea i know it is very frustrating sometimes like now, we just put this video out and it has hardly and views. but thanks for watching. maybe share it to your friends and family might help idk, thanks Al
@@TheKinzlerBros I think its cause your not fakers but you guys will get it....yeet.
@@goofusmaximusII thank you Fred and no we are genuine as they come! So yea i guess if we were freaking out more maybe we would have more subs
Me encanta tu trabajo saludos desde colombia 👍en mi país lo llamamos changon buen trabajo .
I do not speak this language but thanks for watching
Did you have that checked by the police to see if they are looking for one of these prior to doing the restoration?
A sawed off shotgun being dropped off a bridge just perfectly fits the cliché of a discarded gun that was used in a crime.
Yes we absolutely contacted the police and it can back clean, thanks for watching
Amazing job guys, looks great!!!👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Ron cannot wait to restore the handgun!
Good job
Thanks so much Roberta!
Cool wall hanger.
Yeah it’s a very cool wall hanger and for it to be that old is just really cool to me thank you for watching
As long as the barrel is 16 in or longer it's completely legal to own
You are correct, thanks for watching we appreciate it
nice job again guys!! Time and patience a understatement for what you guys just did!
Thanks buddy! Ya it was a process, thanks for watching and commenting!
Beautiful work great piece of gun history in my opinion because if that gun could tell a story who knows what it would say and yeah that is a legal way of keeping the gun is taking the firing pin out or cutting it great work it's going to look awesome in display if I ever find something like that I would definitely do stuff similar to what y'all did keep up the good work
thank you very much Tristan
@@TheKinzlerBros no problem and I love the new foregrip I think it makes it look even more badass you should really make some dummy shells to fit into it to see if it still ejects
Could have saved a lot of the wire brush by either using electrons or soaking in vinegar. It needs to be blued or it will rust.
Yes very true I was new to restorations I have tried electrolysis now but it has not rusted I still have it I didn’t rust because I wiped it with Remi oil. I have done three other restoration since this shotgun and my newest one is not even live on the channel yet I almost made it live today but decided to wait until after the holiday weekend it is a 1917 Remington pump shotgun thank you for watching
Very ice job 👌 👏 👍
Thank you very much
Realwatching so good
Thank you
Great restoration! Learned ALOT watching you guys clean it up.
Thanks we appreciate it, its definitely a process
All good thing takes time
i know right it looked great we are working on the ruger now.
Holy cow this was a great video I enjoyed it. Thanks bro’s n
yea it was a cool video but not many views its weird i guess.
Great work 🥰👍👏
Thank you very much!
WONDERFUL WOW!
thanks Robin
Another great vid!
Although it was pretty beat up, it breathes again! Great job on this one!
Thank you very much I appreciate it!
Its not illegal as old as it is... but yeah great work on making a nice tube.
Thank you that is nice of you to say. Thank you again
Oh yes it is
Unbelievable job. Love it
thanks so much Melissa thanks for watching!
Looks really good nice job restoring it.
Thank you! Cheers!
Nicely done. I'm working on a few restoration videos of some of my own magnet fishing finds as well!
yea its fun do to and see them become almost new!
Nicest
yea it does look pretty nice now but it cant fire!
Well done.
Thank you very much Tyler
It was in the river for a reason😎
Yea possibly we will never know the serial number was ran but nothing. That doesn’t mean it does not have a crime on it. Thanks for watching.
looking at the before pic's, who knew there was a diamond under all that muck, great vid .
Thank you for watching and bonus points for commenting!
Awesome job
Thanks!
Отличная работа. Удачи!
Thank you for watching we appreciate it
Even with the pitting I would have blued it and clear coated it with 500 degree clear engine paint. Makes it pop . Just saying...
Awesome thanks for the tip in the future
Good job on the gun guy's
thanks Curt for watching!
Great job,looks good
Well we appreciate you watching Frankie!
Congrats on the cool gun guys. Glad you got to keep it. Then restore it to that wow it’s awesome.
thank you hannah it was a fun process!
So…this is a clean up and repair (sort of) but not a restoration. It’s neat but definitely not restored.
Agreed you pretty much got me on that I have learned a lot since this video and I just got done with a preservation project of a world war one shotgun I did film it and I just got done editing it should be up on my channel this week sometime this was a preservation project I couldn’t get anything apart it probably was in the river for four decades I appreciate you watching and I appreciate your honesty on the comments thank you
@@TheKinzlerBros I appreciate you guys doing your thing. Wasn’t trying for a gotcha moment. Sorry if it came across like that. There are a lot of people on the tube saying restoration but they aren’t. Keep having fun and doing what you do. 👍🏻
O'Reilly's sells this stuff called evaporust. Great stuff dose not take paint or wood just rust
Ya we used it on our 1863 revolver, thanks for the suggestion though and thanks for watching!
ATF might have a problem with that. Firing pin or no.
Well maybe I did clear it with authorities in my area which does not mean the ATF obviously but I did cut the pin and I later on welded the receiver shut to the barrel thank you for watching
@@TheKinzlerBros Welding the receiver to the barrel is probably good enough in the eyes of the ATF. I'm not sure how long that barrel is, but it looks like it might make the 18" minimum though it's hard to tell from the video. If it is, it also has to be over 26" long. If it's not, it could be made to be by replacing the pistol grip with a full length butt stock.
Great job really interesting
thank you Julie very much!
Nice job with the clean up.
well thanks so much Kathy we have one more restoration to do still coming up and that is the really nice gun!
Dismantling the gun like a gunsmith, there is more to you guys than you let on! Amazing job, look forward to the next one. Stay safe boys.
yea well we try but we are not gunsmiths by a longshot. But thank you for saying that.
thats one of the simplest gun types to take apart and stuff like that its just a break action shotgun
Great Work
Thanks
Should try apple cider vinegar. Works extremely well for removing rust.
Thank you very much.
Klasse 👍 👍 👍
Thank you so much for watching man Manfred
Looks like y'all did another great job 👍👍
Thanks 👍 Pap
Good job boys!😊
thanks Mar-bee
Remember kids if you want an SBS and you don't want to have to go through the paperwork or FFL you can always just fish one up out of the river
I know right haha it is not functional now though it is just for show.
Nice job guys!😊
thanks Hubert we enjoyed cleaning it up!
Might be pitted but bluing anyway would protect the existing metal and look nicer.
Thanks for the advice we appreciate it, thanks for watching
I recommend you have it actually deactivated because cutting the firing pin can be easily replaced have the barrel welded and firing pin hole welded
I have since done all of these things thank you for the advice and for watching
@@TheKinzlerBros the feds will stick ya
Oh wow this looks amazing very nice work guys. 🔫
we appreciate you commenting and watching
You did an amazing job!
Thanks Dawn, cant wait to do the next one
Great restoration guys. I really like it. Cannot wait to see the next one.
the next one will be awesome because we should be able to fire that one.
THAT shotgun looks like from team fortess 2 omg
I do not know if that’s a game or or what but thank you for watching much appreciated Mikail yeah
Just curious. Did you check with the police to see if the gun was stolen before you did all that work? What is the overall length. Is the shotgun a legal length? Wouldn't want to see you in trouble with the law. Great video
yes we did check with them first and the barrel is under 16 inches which is illegal and why we cut the firing pin and welded the receiver.
High crime traffic? I like the videos tho seriously
No very low crime it was found on an abandoned bridge in the country in ND, thanks for watching!
your sheriff doesn't know squat about sawed offs
Well he knows that if it’s under 18 inches it is illegal and that’s why we cut the firing Pin thank you for watching
@@TheKinzlerBros It is still an sbs even if you cut the firing pin, it is still illegal, you need to destroy the gun if you do that or you might get a visit from the ATF. If you didn't post it it probably wouldn't have seen the light of day. You need to cut up the reciever with an oxy-acetylene torch to deactivate an illegal firearm.
Nice job!
Thanks Myssi!
Hi guys....great restoration, I enjoyed watching that....looking forward to more videos...Take care...stay safe...
thanks for watching Martine
Saw a video where the restorer made a diy sand blaster with 20 0unce soda bottle and air compressor. It would save u tons of time. Great videos. Td
Great jobs guys. You do great restoration work!
well thanks, i dont know if it is great work but its good. Thanks for watching
Good job 👍
thank you Nick hope so see your comments again.
Lol nice shoes dude.
Thank you and thanks for watching
I've use The Works for rust removal inside motorcycle gas tanks. It works really well.
Ya it will eat a lot of gunk off of anything, thanks for watching
Great video!
thank you Becca for commenting!
Well even if you kept the firing pin.You wouldn’t want to shoot it.If it’s been in the water that long.
yea i agree with you i do not want to blow my hand off. thanks for watching Austin
I hate to tell you this, but your local sheriff told you wrong. That is still an illegal short barreled shotgun by federal ATF standards. It is very common for local police to not know all the federal gun laws. Cutting the firing pin changes absolutely nothing in the eyes of the ATF.
Per federal gun law:
It does not matter if the firearm has been disassembled or made inoperable by, for example, filing down the firing pin so that the gun cannot fire. This is because a gun with a firing pin filed down can be “readily converted” to operability by replacing the firing pin.
It would take a 10 dollar part and 5 minutes to get that gun working, and anything that can be "readily converted" is still illegal in the eyes of the alphabet agencies
Source> I have a Federal firearms license
I recently bought a 80 year old Enfield drill rifle. The chamber has been drilled through and a big rod is welded in place so there's no way to load and fire it. I still had to enter it in my books because it's still considered a firearm unless the receiver is completely cut apart.
I hear you and I know, thanks for the advice we appreciate it!
As long as the barrel's 18 1/2" long it is legal.
And maybe 26 inch long overall not sure about that but ATF will let him know. Hell I wouldn’t take the Sheriff Dept advice BATFE Is Federal . Wording of the law is scary, like up to $250,000 fine for taking possession of a short barrel rifle before the required paper work and authorization
its about 16inches so yea it does not function, but thanks for watching
18" barrel AND 26" overall, says the law. For rifles, it's 16" barrel, and I don't remember the overall.
@@TheKinzlerBros It doesn't matter if it functions or not, it can be made to function and that's how the feds look at it. That thing can ruin your lives, GET RID OF IT!!
They sell firing pins for that gun.
Ya I welded it shut since, thanks for watching
Awesome video great job guy's Amazing restoration process very fun to watch! Thanks for sharing 👍 🧲🧲
well thank Brockton for watching i hope you did enjoy it!
@@TheKinzlerBros I absolutely did! Awesome job!
Looks great. Love that you restore history.
we love doing stuff like this we have one more gun to restore!
I'll look forward to watching that one as well. My husband and me restore metal lathes ans stationary gas engines. Most people just sell ruted up stuff for scrap. I bought a 1200 lb single sided Brute magnet for myself for Christmas. Waiting for water to unfreeze so we can begin a new hobby. Keep up the good work.
The evaporust works really well I use it for everything that might be a little rusty or horrible
Ya we have used it before, thanks for watching
