when i was young and finished little women..my father in an uncharacteristic act brought me home used copy of under the lilacs..i opened it happily but i couldn't understand the first page...the prose was just a little too much for me at the time..and so it went on a shelf for quite some time.and one day i opened it again and went straight through with much enjoyment...and forever after it was such a wonder to me that this treasure had been in my possession unrealized for such a long time.
