Such an incredible songwriter. The idea of him dying never even crossed my mind. Like I thought he would live forever or something. He just always was and would always be. This is truly a tragic loss for the music community. He did it the right way. He just had fun and let everyone else join in.

I was thinking the same thing tonight. I was born and raised on Jimmy Buffett. It never even occurred to me that he might one day stop living on this planet. I do feel blessed to have lived in the same time as him.

The greatest Jimmy Buffett song ever recorded. Very nice live version.

He delivers it with the widest smile when he's quoting the old man in the song at the end. He made his mark. the crowd singing along word-for-word is the evidence.

Can't shake the sadness of JB's passing. Obviously never met the man, but his music has been the soundtrack of my life as I got married, raised my children, and now as I age well past middle age. He will be so very missed, but if there was ever an artist whose music will live on, it is the one of a kind Jimmy Buffett.

I like to think of myself as a fairly tough and stoic 53 year old but I can't not shed tears at "...but I had a good life all the way... yeah...".
3 months later and I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that Jimmy is gone. He inspired me to see new parts of the world and was the soundtrack of so many adventures and it breaks my heart that he's no longer with us.

Well 76 years of perpetual motion, well played.
It's with heavy heart, this Parrothead says: Thank You for sharing your life with me. I've enjoyed your music, concerts, and books. You are America's Troubadour.

Even though I'm 65, it was his writing that dragged me in.
Frank Bama, and Tully Mars. Well, Desdemona and a
LONG list of others. Jimmy could spin a tale better than
      most.
You know how many authors get a "top of the list"
non fiction and fiction book, at the top of the list?
I think it is 6. Jimmy is one of them. (Got both,
      and many more.)
      Bubbles Up! Fins Up.

It breaks my heart and makes me smile. Singing a song he wrote in 1973, in the place where his life changed so dramatically, now 50 years later with a terminal cancer diagnosis. My Lord, the sorrow and joy mixed together… but, it seems like Jimmy held nothing but the joy and thankfulness. It’s such an amazing testament to the human spirit. I love him.

I know how you feel. I'm still stunned after over a month! I can't remember ever feeling the gravity of a loss like this for a celebrity. His songs and joy deeply touched my heart. I had a golden retriever in the 90's that I named Buffett. I went out with a guy that when he heard my dog's name, he asked if he was named after Warren Buffett. To tell you the truth, I didn't know anything about Warren Buffett at that time. I told him, "Heck no, he's a party animal like Jimmy Buffett!" The guy didn't know Jimmy Buffett!!! I can't remember the guy's name - lol.

In memory of Jimmy Buffett. Great singers of song like him are getting fewer these days. Now he’s having his cheeseburgers in paradise and we’re heartbroken. Got a lump in my throat. Can’t be helped. He lived the life of a sailor of verse. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

After his passing, my sister thanked me for introducing her to Jimmy Buffett. It was December 1,1983 and I convinced her that she would have the time of her life. Jimmy was performing at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury, Maryland on that date as part of the One Particular Harbor tour I guess. A winter tour. Buffett News doesn't list this venue on their website as him ever having performed there, but he was their twice on July 10th 1981 and December 1,1983. In fact, the 1981 show was my first Buffett show and the first song I saw him preform live at that show was Havana Daydreaming.

I was going through my Dad's old papers in storage and I found a booklet from Springhill Alabama that read "The Bit & Spur Club Horse Show" so I'm thumbing through the old ephemera and I'll be damned if it didn't have Mr. & Mrs. J.D. Buffett, Laurie Buffett and Lucy Buffett written in the pages. I contacted Laurie and Lucy (Lulu) via email and asked if it tugged at the old songwriters heartstrings and they said it sure did and he thanked me for the memories. Jimmy didn't know it but my Dad and all his wild friends back in 1978 took me, an 8 year old right over the bridge to Biloxi Mississippi to see a show that would completely transform me into the musician I am today. It was pure magic and I'm so proud to be a native Mississippian inspired by another native Mississippian. His mannerisms, his humbleness, his accent, his polite being is absolutely our way, down around Biloxi (pretty girls are dancin' in the sea)...
