    Sammy... you're almost mystically prescient.
The water gun...the toy for his daughter...the army/navy scumbag's (dude from Apocalypse Now btw) armory...and so, so much more.
You're a rare soul. I really wanna see you react to many other films.

Red somewhere that movie was filmed at the same time as the LA riots were happening, but later I think it was stated that it was afterwards. But still interesting to put that in same perspective with the movie.

For sure! Would probably have been a (genuine) logistical + production concern if it were shot during the riots ...

Definitely one of my favorites from the 90s, I can say Duvall and Douglas are one of the greatest actors of all time. If you like westerns I highly recommend Lonesome Dove with Duvall, its a six part series it's one of the greatest westerns ever made in my opinion.
Colors is also another Duvall film, somewhat similar to this, same location its a good cop drama

Saw this on Easter Monday it was Good. Is one of those films that worked on a dark LA Gritty City. I Recommend Training Day 2001 and Taxi Driver 1976

The movie wasn't a big hit when it came out, since it had been promoted as a gritty drama, but audiences found Douglas' freakouts more unintentionally funny. Eventually, the studio started re-selling it as a comedy: czcams.com/video/dLRas5lTVTM/video.html

"Now, let's go meet some nice policemen. They're good guys. Come on, let's go."
    "I'm the bad guy?"
    "Yeah."
"How'd that happen? I did everything they told me to. Did you know I build missiles? I helped to protect America. You should be rewarded for that. Instead they give it to the plastic surgeons, y'know, they lied to me."
"Is that what this is about? You're angry because you got lied to? Is that why my chicken dinner is drying out in the oven? Hey, they lie to everyone. They lie to the fish. But that doesn't give you any special right to do what you did today. The only thing makes you special is that little girl."
You know, Prendergast is totally right. Foster is totally out of control and in the wrong here. Life sucks, but going on a violent rampage is never the answer.
Fun Fact: Robert Duvall, Frederic Forrest, and James Keane previously appeared in Apocalypse Now (1979).
Music Enthusiast Fact: Man On The Edge (1995) by Iron Maiden is based on this movie. The music video for Walk (2011) by Foo Fighters is inspired by and mimics the movie. Heart Attack Man also based their song Out For Blood (2019) on this movie.
Colors Connection Fact: In the scene in which the drive-by car crashes, there is a mural of a Hispanic depiction of Jesus on the wall. This same mural is also present in Colors (1988), also starring Robert Duvall as an LAPD cop, in the scene in which the police officer played by Sean Penn spray paints a kid's face.
Historical Fact: The movie was being shot on locations in Lynwood, California when the 1992 Los Angeles riots began. By April 30, the riots were sufficiently disruptive to force filming to stop early that day. Film crews produced more footage inside of Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank as the riots continued. By May 4, when the crew intended to resume in Pasadena, initial requests to do so were denied, causing delays. The tension around the riots was something that the filmmakers deemed to have an effect on the finished film. The Korean American Coalition protested the film for its treatment of minorities, as well as the South Korean grocer. Because of this, and the boycott threats that followed, this movie was banned in South Korea.

Wow ... what a troublesome production and outcome, quite sad.

Along with some other production problems during the making of Falling Down - although WB distributed this film in 1993
but it finally belong to Disney, owners of the Regency Enterprises and Barish/Kopelson Entertainment/Sugarman libraries,
including Extremities, Triumph of the Spirit, Out for Justice and Don't Say a Word beginning in 2008.
