  • Jab - Kudus Serve
    Jab - Kudus Table Tennis Serve, Curl the ball left or right with the same arm motion
    The Kudus serve is a newly invented serve by Eli Baraty (eBaTT) after a tennis lesson he had back in 2018.
    The Serve is an added abbreviation of the jab serve, most know the jab serve as an in-swinging serve. But the Kudus serve gives you the added bounce of doing a jab serve with an out-swinging swerve.
    The serve can only be done with side and topspin but if you are looking to do a jab side and topspin serve. Then it enables you to make you serve curl in two different directions with a near-exact serving motion.
    how it's done.
    it's all about where you contact the ball, which makes the ball rotate on its axis one way, swerving in a certain direction, and with a different contact point, it will swerve in a different direction.

    Howdy Coach Eli. Thanks for more ammunition against my opponents! I especially enjoyed your inspiration for this serve-slice variations on your tennis serve. I hope you're using that slice to go at your friends body and backhand, and serve and volley like a madman, Eli! With your quickness and handskills, I bet you're an elite volleyer. Your explaining it this way helped me, a fellow lefty, to get a good feel for this. I just channeled my tennis slice. Thanks again.

    Excellent video, I am a tennis instructor and the bit about tennis serve was right on I use the topspin and under spin serves in both sports. Question for you on blades and rubber. Due to wrist problems and on advice from a physical therapist I set table tennis aside from age 25 to age 60. Now that tennis playing at high level is done, I am back at table tennis. When I played years ago I used a butterfly power 7 blade with sriver 2.0 on forehand and super sriver 1.5 on backhand. I got used to that combination. What blade and rubber is similar in today's game? I was never much more than a 1300 player back then, but would like to get back up to speed. Thanks for any input.

  • @andrewbayruns348
    @andrewbayruns348 Před 5 lety +3

    I don't think the ball is actually curving in two different directions. The serve that curve's in does so because you're putting backspin on the ball thus slowing the forward movement and allowing the ball to move more horizontally before it goes past the table. While the serve that jumps out has a lot of topspin so it increases the forward movement thus making the horizontal movement minimal in comparison to the backspin serve. However you can still deceive people between the two.

    nice tutorial thanks! tho I wouldn't call it outward. all u doing is put less inside spin so it goes in more a straight line than curve in. if u observe carefully from the helicopter angle, even the "outward " serve curves a bit inwards until the 2nd bounce, which has no more inward spin and thus jumps in straight line which appears to be outward. I guess... u can call that outward haha

    Coach Baraty. You say in the intro section that the jab serve was developed around 15 years ago. I believe that the US player Jimmy Butler (former #75 in the world) has been doing the jab serve for many years. If my memory serves me he was using this serve as early as 1991. I have video of him using jab serves in that year in the final of the US Men's Championship against Sean O'Neill. If you would like to see this video I can share the file with you. I knew Jimmy quite well as he was a sponsored player of the table tennis company ASTI in the 1990s, when I was the company President. A quick internet search shows Jimmy playing Waldner in the 1996 Gilbert Cup (Game 3) where I believe you can just make out his jab serve technique: czcams.com/video/TJ-7snNTYeM/video.html. Jimmy promised to show me his wide variety of jab serves but we never got a chance.
    Thanks for your video, which I found very insightful.
