"Are you in"? "That's what she said" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The speed at which he came back with that was class
Your 10k recovery pace is my 10k race pace 😂
4:20/km... recovery pace?!?! Hah! You are killing me, dude!!! Anyway. Thumbs up, as always. Thanks a lot for another great video.
Both trails and roads all the way. I would not like to give up the joy from either one.
You are the coolest runner! 10km in a sloppy 4'26/km pace gives you a relative Strava effort of neglegible 10! ---- OMG!
Loving the positivity as always Ben! You are the only CZcamsr I put alerts on for 😂
Awww, thanks for the support!! 🙂🙌
Ben Parkes No worries Ben, well deserved. You gonna do any 100 or 160k runs in the future? I’m an ultra marathon runner, too slow for the regular
Loved it ben!
You two look like you are having a blast, I am so happy for you :D
Thank you! The cat in your profile photo looks just like my Birman cat!!
@@BenParkes Hhaha yeah! It's my cat, his name is Biffen and even though they look simular he is Ragdoll!
@@Dissey Biffen? That means "the steak" in Norwegian. :)
@@olasonn In Swedish it means ''muscular, strong, ripped'' He is huge and weight 12kg :)
British and never drank a cup of tea, that must be some sort of record lol
I’m British, in Britain, and I’ve not drank tea either. There’s lots of people who haven’t tried it, mostly because it’s a hot drink. Also, lots of people are averse to new things in different contexts, I stick to what I know and like so I’d never try tea, whereas for some people they love to try new things.
Trails always, I step out of my back door here in Spain straight into the mountains!! 😁
Sounds amazing Paul!! Spent a lot of time in Spain earlier this year and loved every second of it
Did Man vs Mountain last weekend; 22 mile, 5055ft accent trail race up Snowdon
4 hours 23 minutes and 31st overall!
Your advice on interval/tempo training and warm ups reduced injuries and helped me greatly this year so thank you very much!
For running enthusiasts, you guys are serious couple goals 😊
Signed up for the Frankfurt marathon. Will be my first marathon. Looking forward to your next video.
You guys need to go and run in the Baltic countries when you get a chance. I just got back from running Vilnius Marathon (and ran Tallinn Marathon last year). Both are such great races and cities. I love running these races that nobody talks about and have had fantastic experiences compared to running where the masses flock to. You'll still have the city experience with great race organisation and crowd support.
Berlin this year is going to be my first Marathon ever. Really excited for it!
I've been road-racing 10-15years ago. As I got older I started trail-running. And it's the thing I enjoy the most now. A lot of runners I used to run/race with back in those days stopped running. They just couldn't stand the loss of speed while getting older. For me, trail-running is a very good option to not bother about "my easy pace 10yrs ago is now my race pace" ;-)
I really hope you'll both smash it and get your PB's! Love your videos
Very kind Mike, thank you! All the best with your running.
I adore your content! Always excited to watch as soon as you upload! I was in Frankfurt for 6 months and this brought back so many memories! Thank you for such positive and uplifting content and all the best for the PRs that are coming along your way!! ☺ 🏃 🍻
Great video Ben, I'm really interested in your reviews of Berlin. I've run the marathon there 11 times.. this year it's number 12 and so looking forward to it!
No coffee..., no tea...?
Well, as long as you drknk beer 😀
The trailrunning videos when following the runners on the course, is just fantastic. I love it.
It motivates to go running even more ☺
Definitely a trailrunner. Have four planned for this year, 44k Freedomtrail to commemorate Operation Marketgarden, 60k Graef Castricumtrail, 58k Beartrail. And to finish it of 50mi Bello Gallico in December
You’ve never had a coffee in your life !!.....I can’t imagine how hyper and alert you’d be with coffee !! 😂😂😂
I enjoy both trail and roads. Really depends how I'm feeling. It's nice to be able to mix up surfaces
Love the way you two just fit in to all of Europe.... you seem to know the road net works... - but your Runing Ben is awesome fabulous pace.... may be I need to cut down on my coffee..... ( Still Running Daily... x253 #RunEveryDay )
that was me stumped in the first 5 seconds! Never had a cup of tea?! :o
Or coffee! A few hot chocolates over the years though :-)
@@BenParkes imo your not missing out on coffee but tea! Thats what got me to carry on with after i turned my ankle over doing the Pilgrims Farnham marathon on sunday was knowing there was tea at the end! Each to our own though :)
@@BenParkes why no tea or coffee? have you ever had caffeine in other forms?
Great video again. Really good insight for Berlin which I hope to do next year, so thanks for heading out there! Road running only at moment but will be transitioning to trail running after the Amsterdam Marathon next month in preparation for my first ever 80km trail race next spring....ah! In answer to your question, simply running works for me, as it's a workout for the body and the mind.
Another superb video Ben..thanks!
Great episode man! I love following your running adventures - they're a definite source of inspiration for my own.
Loved it! Frankfurt looks amazing! Still contemplating to make that my first Marathon! Thanks for all the amazing content you put out there :)
The video of me running the route will be up on Thursday.. it was a great course. All the best with your running Dennis!
I like both, training now for the Frankfurt marathon. Next year season will start with a trail running cup.
See you in Frankfurt Chris.. my recce video will be out on Thursday! So will have some footage of the course. All the best!
having been to both cities, I'd recommend Berlin. The course is more urban. Frankfurt can get a bit empty on the weekend because people work in the city but live outside. Also the later date can make Frankfurt a lot colder.
Berlin looks ace for a run and that food looked 10/10
Train on the trails, race on the roads 👌 having said that I’ve done too many road races this year so next year more trail races needed!
Been on my first GoodGym runs this past week or so, heard about them through yours and Sarah's strava so signed up for the Derby one (which started last week)! Keep up the great content 👍
Nice!!! Hope you enjoyed it! GoodGym is how we met
@@SarahPlace Oh wow, didn't know that! GoodGym bringing the community... And you and Ben... Together! 😊 I do love their ethos, so thanks for the inadvertent recommendation!
I love trail running albeit I mainly use it for training for road running which is the discipline I love most due to the racing environment
Another great vid. Thanks Ben.
Goodies is the best! My go to in Berlin!
thats awesome man . Berlin is one of my favorite european cities ....looks like you’re staying at the same hotel i stayed in last year overlooking Tiergarten :)
Hi Ben a vlog about what you take in your bag when you traveling to racing in a different country would be very interesting to see
Trail running for sure is my thing will be doing my first road race (great south run) next month though as i wanted a flat challenge to see how quick i can do it vs the usual very hilly trails. Your right with the trains gotta love how cheap flix is though when your trying to save money over there! Love Germany
Yeah.. was about 30 euros for the trip.. verses about 100 euros for the main train.. no complaints! Good luck at GSR Sarah.. it's soooo flat there and very quick! Have a great run!
@@BenParkes We usually end up getting the 'happy weekender tickets' or the group tickets, if you avoid the high speed trains it makes it cheaper but flix is great travelled with them from Prague to Nuremberg a few years back for super cheap. Thankyou! Looking foward to doing some faster tempo training once my ankle is feeling a bit better. Got the Hayling 10mi month after then my first ultra just before christmas which pretty much combines the two routes! Can't wait :).
Killing it with the vlog mode
I have my first trail race next month and I'm very excited about it! I try to run trails at least a few times a month cause it's a nice change from roads
Oh Ben, proper Berlin hipster breakfast! :D You should make Berlin your key race, of course. Find your inner Eliud!
Please make it more video ben, i keep waiting for your video, your video is make me so improve on my running hehe
I have another video on Thursday.. promise! Glad you like them!
I love the door at 8:10 min , on her face, she said nothing?? :))
Another great video Ben! I would love to have your recovery pace as my race pace!! Looking forward to the next video 👍🏼🏃🏻♂️
I prefer both, trail and road. But my first love are the road. 😊👍🏼
Haha, it is called the Main river, I looked it up as I thought you didn't know its name.
Loved this, nice one Ben 👍
I ran Berlin last year and I’m running it this year as well, I love the city and the race was really amazing.
Amsterdam in 6 weeks. First European Marathon & so easy to get in to :-)
i have my first cross country 5k of the season on saturday now that i’m recovered from an injury, wish me luck!
Good luck Alyssa!!
Will be running next week in Frankfurt watching the Arsenal away!
I only do road races but I am trying to reach to marathon distance first and then to ultra trails!
I think it’s worth considering shorter trail races too. I did my first trail race this year, which was 25km, and really enjoyed it. Next up is a trail marathon.
@@Jameswmin Of course. What I mean is that the next new type of race I will do is going to be the marathon. Then I will also try trail runs but I will start with short ones first
Great video Ben 👍
i'm doing a Parkrun on the 14th September - aiming for a sub 24 PB and on the 21st September I will be doing a 5k trail run!
GOOD LUCK Rudolph!! Hope you have two great runs!
Great video, I life in the middle / south of Germany, maybe one day I will run in Berlin as well! Looking forward to see you Frankfurt comments. I was running the Frankfurt Marathon two times so far.
One question, do you basically not answer on contact request on your webpage? That's why I have so far not ordered a cap. :-(
... keep running ;-)
BTW, I like more running on trails, especially in Austria.
I try to answer every email that I get.. it’s hard, as get around 20-30 every day and that takes a couple of hours of working time. What is your question?
I had a question regarding my Taperphase and my training plan I had for my Marathon which was already last week. It was the ebm-papst Marathon. So it is over, so don't care about.
Congrats on your effort at the GNR at the weekend. Also with the Hoka vest you wore in your Berlin Marathon course video, where did you purchase from?
Looking forward to seeing your own running kit coming out
I have a friend who works at hoka.. so they get a bit of kit now and then. You can’t buy it outside of the USA at the moment.
Trail ultra marathons any day. Lakeland 100 and Hardmoors. Check them out and enter one. Love the videos. Keep em coming.
Love the videos Ben. Currently running your Half Marathon plan hoping for a 3rd straight PB in the distance using your plans 🙌🏼 also, love 5:08 “that’s what she said” 😂😂
Omg.. my name is on your video woohoo 😊
Great vid, looks like your having a great time, it was a wise move to scope the course out to, hope you do super well Ben. Also do you think Kipchoge will get the sub 2? I definitely do, he's fantastic and the extra crowd support will make the difference.
I can't believe you said AMS was pancake flat. what I HATED about Amsterdam was that it was always a very slight uphill or a very slight downhill.
Great Video
Your previous video and thoughts on the course are really useful, thanks. I’m hoping to go sub-2:45 in Berlin, after missing out by 7 seconds at Manchester last year! How would you say the two courses compare?
Ok, after seeing this video you are now my fav CZcamsr. Thumbs up, man!!!!!!!!!
Trails win for me but I do road running aswell more on training because we don't have many trails round here
Great video as usual mate.... Can you mention the cafe in Berlin? Would love to try that place!
goodies-deli.com Have added it to the video description now!
@@BenParkes : Thank you!
Hopefully see you in Berlin!!
I’m a both guy but with small preference to trails.
Re GPS issues - Any reason you don't use a Garmin footpod? I started using it years ago because I lived in a GPS deadzone, use it on every run now and never have any issues!
Ben, have you really never had a coffee or just joking? What a awesome place & healthy as meal, just that meal, should take 10min off your Berlin marathon time 😀👍🏼
Go Kiwi never had a tea or coffee!
Ben Parkes that’s awesome Ben good on you, keep up the good work your videos, are fun & inspiring, really enjoy watching your journey,
ROAD!!!!
Ben FTW!
Dear Ben. I always thought you looked cool. And then you took your cap off !!
Love the content as always, what holdall's are those you both use? they seem perfect for weekend races away...
North Face Duffel.. they last a lifetime. Had mine for 10+ years and it hasn't aged at all.
Ben with the jokes 😂😂
Both but I prefer trails!
Video idea: have a sit down and cup of tea after a big run
Hi Ben, which type of surface do you run the most on? Approx. how many % of your mileage? :D
I am having 100% on my runs on pavement since months and I am a little concerned about injuries which might show up. But so far so good.
Thanks and keep posting. Love your videos!
Hi Ben, added you in the Garmin Connect Community. Hope we can connect there, would love some advise from you=)
Was the "that's what she said" Michael Scott-inspired?
Isn’t every that’s what she said inspired by Michael Scott?!?
Ben Parkes I really hope so!
are you following the ineos 1:59 (marathon in less then 2h) challenge in Vienna?
Excited to see what happens! I won't be travelling there, but will be watching with the rest of the world online no doubt
Hi ben
I'm doing Amsterdam and noted your comments. Tell me more!!
Oh there is just a long section along a river where you run down one side, over it and back along the other. It's mentally quite a tough section as very little going on.. but yeah, the course is very very flat.. no hills at all to worry about! So a perfect chance of getting a PB for sure! The start and finish are pretty epic in the old stadium, loved that part! All the best for the race James!
😂😂😂😂 great video
How do you keep track of directions on these courses? I’m always either staring at a map and disrupting my run or getting lost and making my own route.
What headphones do you use?
Aftershokz
Super
Sarah should have her own channel.
I looked at the thumbnail and I was like wait who's that? Then I realized it was you😂. Honestly though you have nice hair!
Hi mate do you run of your toes every time you moving?. Thanks
Berlin looks like Budapest
Brandenburger Tor ;)
Is there a hair recovery day planned?😁
Ben, when do you come to nuernberg? :D
🤟🏼 thanks a lot for your cool videos... !!! 🔥
Glad you like them! Maybe next year I'll be back to explore new cities in Germany!
@@BenParkes let me know, i will show you both the city highlights .. incl. food ☺️
@@einfachbesserschwimmenalex92 i loved running round Nuremberg lake and park this summer i wanted to do the Nuremberg marathon after Summer Breeze festival but couldnt get back in time. Maybe one year i love how well kept the roads/paths are and the lack of glass that we seem to have near me lately. Where else is good to run in Nuremberg as we visit every year (my favourite German city). Veg Doner is something i always miss coming home!
@@ladylouroll2 well, it's also very cool to run in the woods by the Zoo, or Wöhrdersee around and more distance and saturdays Parkrun there, Dutzendteich around, around the City Border is also nice. ;)
@@einfachbesserschwimmenalex92 Ah nice i will take a look into those locations. Sadly because i travel to Nuremberg for Summer Breeze parkrun isnt an option we ran our own about the campsite on the saturday though. Thanks for the advice :)
I founded it funny/awkward when you said "Here in Europe"... (I understood, Continental Europe) Even after brexit England will still be in Europe 😂😂😂 And i'm Team Road 💪😉
I forgot to ask what is he name of the Vegan restaurant in Frankfurt please?
VEVAY
Pico Behr Thank you, I listened to that part three times and I couldn’t make it out.
I'm quiting the Tea and Coffee if that's your secret 😂
Ha, looking at him run mid 4 min K’s for a recovery run I think I may too 😃
Any Advice what I can do against Knee Pain on the outside and only when running and also few days after it? It first appaered while running in the beginning of august. After the run, i had problems walking stairs for about a week. I paused training for few weeks until i felt good but the pain came back after 2km of running. Few weeks later (now), same thing repeated itself.
It really pisses me of because i can walk perfectly fine but cant run. Do you have experience with this, i want to start running as soon as possible
Bensch 00 Sounds like what I had. Diagnosed as IT Band Syndrome. Definitely see a physio! Had to stop running (cycle or rowing only) rehab and do lots of strengthening excises for glutes. Single legged squats, crab walk etc. Took around 5/6 weeks to get on top of it
@@wp3050 IT Band is what i was thinking aswell. Do you know the reason for the syndrom? Muscular dysbalance or something? Did you rather strengthen the quads or hamstrings and how often a week did you do this? Definitely going to see physio in a few days
Bensch 00 it was a weakness in my glutes so focused on strengthening them with exercises around 5 days a week . Stretched and rolled my legs every night on a foam roller tonincrease my flexibility. Took about an hour in total in the evening. Didn’t run at all and stopped straight away if I felt my knee during the cycling or rowing (if you still wish to do cardio). There’s a few CZcams videos about it. Definitely would recommend seeing a good physio though as they will be able to provide you with a good rehab programme and get you running again
@@wp3050 thanks a lot, very useful comment
Never drink coffee? Wait what.
How was the big vegan burger??
7/10.. a good start! Be interesting to see if they launch it in the UK.. as you'd expect the demand would be quite high!
@@BenParkes I found it rather meaty tasting (i no some vegans like this though depending on their reasoning) very filliing to me though (did you?), i left the fries because of that before we flew home from Bremen. I prefered the old 99c vegi burger used to eat about 3 of those at a time i do hope it ventures over here though. Just seen Tesco is due to bring out 270 more vegan products due to the demand on vegan/veggie food so thats something else to look forward to :)
Yeah.. it's a tough debate with mcdonalds.. as their ethics would be pretty questionable overall, so don't really want to give them my money.. but one one of the world largest companies puts a vegan burger on the menu, then others will sit up and take note. So it has to be a good thing overall. I was pretty full after the burger and chips though and it tasted like meat I guess, can't really remember what meat tastes like! Good news about Tesco! All the best Sarah.
damn im early lol
Welcome back!
