      Blown up right this second.
      And yes it's quick in town.... But you can feel the forks flex, and using front brake makes the front end max out.

    Talent will always shine through, I remember about 15 years or so ago seeing on a track near me a very young kid driving a kart. Bumped off first corner and still passed 29 other drivers to finish 2nd! Think his name was Lewis something! Even then you could see this kid was very very special. Little did I know? This talent is not given out to everyone, 250cc or not, this kid is pretty unique.

    Dudes definitely got skills! I had a zxr400 for 4 years before I stepped up to a bigger bike. That little bike taught me a so much. And I never got left behind in the twisties when riding in groups as it was so agile.

  • @josterfosh
    @josterfosh Před 10 lety +10

    Love it. People always ask me, why don't you get a bigger bike. I don't see the point owning a big bike for the sort of riding I do, commuting to work and back. I own a track car so i'm not interested in racing my bike. A 250 is more than enough for every day street riding. I believe that riding a smaller bike can teach you to be a better rider, you have to learn about having a good flow and linking corners, you don't have the luxury to just pin it every time the road is straight. Plus I admire the underdog, always had 4cyl cars too.

    • @M13
      @M13  Před 10 lety +4

      Exactly. If your bike is your primary vehicle then you probably use it mostly for going to work. And needing a bigger bike to go to work.....would be like getting a lambo for commuting. Not that smart.....cool....sure.....but stupid.

  • @KlayRider
    @KlayRider Před 10 lety +18

    i agree with being able to increase skills and enjoy a bike like that completely, but the problem for most people, americans in particular (i think), is that we don't live close enough to tracks like this or even roads that bend that much. living down here in flatland kansas makes it hard for me to find opportunities to practice like this :c so naturally the only thing to do around here is go fast and pop wheelies, and what bends we do have are very large and gradual, so going faster on them is almost a must in order to knee-down. i wish i lived near enough to a track like this to go regularly

    I've owned a bike with a larger engine and enjoyed the initial take off. So far, I'm happy with my latest purchase of a CBR250R. I have no desire to own anything close to a R1 and cruise the highway at 170 mph. I've watch some insane videos. This reassures me I have much to learn with what I have and it can be more than getting from point A to point B. Glad to be riding again :)

    Totally agree! I'm new to biking, a petrolhead and a car lover. With cars I have always pushed my skill level to the max before upgrading to more horse power. What's the point of a 911 turbo if you can't even handle an mx-5? I will be taking the same attitude with bikes.. although I feel the learning will take a little longer!

  • @FunniestFlicks
    @FunniestFlicks Před 10 měsíci

    This is completely correct on so many levels. I own I ninja 250 and I about a year ago I bought a sv650s to convert to a track bike. The ninja 250 still teaches me so much at slow speeds on the street while the sv650s can handle higher speed track riding. If I had to choose between the two it's the ninja hands down. I consider myself a good rider (I've been on two wheels for a long time with having a history of downhill mountain biking and dirt bikes) but I'm aware I'm probably never going to have the skill to use the power of a 600 or 1000. So many people hate when I tell them to start small and only upgrade when you completely master a bike. Nice informative video.

    As a motor cop and police motorcycle instructor, I was a professional motorcyclist. I've owned five bikes, including an ex-CHP BMW R1100 RT-P and a Honda ST 1100. The only one I've kept is my little 250 Ninjaette that I've ridden coast to coast on (DE to CA). Many people try to get bigger bikes than they can comfortably handle, and many end up wrecking them and hurting themselves (these same idiots rarely wear protective gear, too).

    I never understood the "bigger is better" mentality. I owned a Mazda Miata for ten years and never, ever got bored. That car was much more fun than a Corvette or Mustang or whatever other big displacement pseudo-sports cars there are. A really good driver behind the wheel of a Miata will absolutely kick ass. Of course I live in the Fingerlakes area of New York where every road has twisties. Maybe I would feel differently about it if I lived in Kansas.

It was the most fun Ive ever had on a bike. I came back to the US, sold my R1, and got a WR250R with both sets of offroad and street wheels. Amazing bike for the cities and does highway speeds just fine.. although whats the fun in that. As someone who rides a 250, I disagree, ironically enough. I could care less what cc engine you have, as long as you have fun.
    Furthermore, not everyone has winding roads or tracks near them. So honestly, if all you have are relatively straight roads, you're going to go for more power to have fun. If that's not your thing, that's fine too
    Point is, it doesn't matter what set of wheels you're riding on as long as you're happy. To put others down for their choice sounds just as petty as someone telling you to get a bigger cc engine to "have fun". If you're really happy with your Ninja, keep at it. What does it matter what others think of you?
    It's like sport bike riders who get all flustered when a no-helmet wearing Harley doesn't recognize them on the road. What do you care what he thinks of you?

    I m all for NOT getting a smaller bike for the street, but racing/track days on the 250/300cc is so much fun, and cheaper than bigger bikes. It's like a 1/3 of the cost to race a 250/300 over a 600. Plus you can do super cheap track days on kart tracks like in this video. We have Wide open Wednesdays here for 60 bucks at our kart track, thats $90 cheaper than a normal track day and you get to do it every Wednesday rain or shine. Dont even get me started on the tire cost difference.

    I own a 250 and love it. I live in Canada, and I most mostly ride to commute. When I take the bike to twisties I love the bike so much and would not want to change it for a bigger one. HOWEVER, the problem with the 250 is overtaking people at speeds higher than ~70kph. Getting to the twisties takes a good ~1h30 which is boring, slow, and I can barely overtake anyone. When I'm at the twisties and there's a car in front of me, over taking it becomes a game of in itself as I have to make sure I will have plenty of space.
    If I did track days I wouldn't even consider changing bikes but unfortunately I don't so as it stands I'm planning on getting a 600. All that said though I do not regret for a single moment getting a 250, it's a great bike, will scare you more than enough and is great for learning. If I had to do it over again I'd still get the 250 even if I knew I would upgrade later down the line.

    I'm planning on getting my M1 license sometime soon and even after I decide to upgrade my back from a 250 to like a Yamaha R6, I plan on keeping that 250 and also possibly getting the new Yamaha R25 in the future.

    I love small bikes, I've bought a Honda CR250 motocross which I want to re-build into a vintage looking road race bike because it's a bit fun with 2-strokes.
    But the coolest small bike ever is probably the old Honda CBR 250RR which revs up to 20'000 rpm.

    I remember my mini cruiser (kawasaki eliminator 125) was such a hilarious ride. I'd basically get off the opposite pegs to take a turn as fast as possible, but it was so slow it wasn't even dangerous or frightening. I never got bored of that bike but it did seem like I needed something bigger to challenge my riding skills at that point, haven't had the chance to ride anything since though.

      Smaller bikers are also SUPERIOR in agility. When you buy a bigger bike...you're also buying a WORSE handling bike. So they aren't as much of an "upgrade" as people think.

    I can do a heck of a lot more stuff on my MT125 than someone on a large displacement bike.
    The thing about small bike that's nice is that you can practice using it to its FULL potential. Where as, a large heavy bike is very difficult to use. Although, i am buying my self a Honda CBX. But not to race or anything stupid ^^

    Inexpensive(TWD 400/day) and nice track to build up some skills plus various kinds of competitors(scooters, minibikes, 2-stroke...) on track, that's why I visit it pretty often. AND maybe you can meet M13 there, how cool is that?

  • @Korruptor711

    I would love to move to Taiwan to be able to race on tracks like this. The local track is big with wide corners. Racing for a day is easily $400 + gas and they only offer it twice a year. They did open a kart track there this year, so it would be cool if we could get motorcycles on there, too (doubtful, since everyone else wants the big track with their liter bikes).

    • @M13
      @M13  Před 10 lety
