It was a lovely place full of peace when I visited in1989. Regardless of whether one believes the one speaking to the visionary is the mother of Jesus the call to repent and pray is a good one. She keeps drawing people to follow her Son. We need to be open to total conversion to Jesus now. This would be a tragedy for believers IF the way of the world were the correct one, if 'getting ahead' really were the point of human existence. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.' But Jesus, Who came 'from above', gives us the real picture. Behind the scenes of this life lies a deeper, spiritual reality. Those whose 'treasure' is on earth are NOT to be envied, because they cannot take it with them when they die. Those whose treasure is in heaven, who know God through Jesus Christ, have an inheritance awaiting them. That is not to say that God is indifferent to economic injustice and suffering. There are many passages which condemn abuse of other human beings for the sake of material gain. See James chapter 5, verses 1-6, which begins: 'Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you........'

1. The Word makes it abundantly clear that human beings (apart from the sinless Son of God) are sinners. (Romans 3:23) 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' ALL, not some.
Jesus said to His opponents, 'You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world' (John 8:23). He also said (see John 8:58), 'before Abraham was born, I AM'. Every Jew knew that 'I AM' (see Exodus 3:14) is the title of God Himself, that He was claiming to be God. Of course God cannot sin. And the VIRGIN BIRTH is a sign (see Isaiah 7:14) that Jesus is not like other men, other human beings. He is indeed from above!
Now SIN is transmitted by heredity. David says (Psalm 51:5), 'Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.' We all have sin, being biological descendants of Adam who sinned. But Christ had NO biological father, as you well know. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, for Mary to have had no sin, she would also have had to be born of a virgin, in order to avoid contamination by sin through heredity. Where is the evidence that Mary's mother was a virgin when she gave birth to Mary? There is none.
2. Mary was not perfect. How well did the 'holy family', including Mary herself, understand Jesus' mission, before the Resurrection made it clear to them? In once instance, they tried to stop His work. (Mark 3:21) 'When His own people heard, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, "He has lost His senses." '
A little later (Mark 3:32-35)--------'A crowd was sitting around HIm, and they said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You." Answering them, He said, "Who are My mother and My brothers?" Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother." '
Why did Jesus not stand on ceremony for his mother? He did not seem in a hurry to be with her. He was busy. And He did NOT tell the crowd to adore her.
3. The same passage makes mincemeat of the claim that Mary remained a virgin her whole life. Obviously God was kind to Joseph and did not require celibacy of him, which would have made their marriage a pious fiction and left him open to temptation. AFTER the birth of Christ, Mary and Joseph had natural children, including the apostles James and Jude, authors of two wonderful books in the New Testament.
See Galatians 1:19, where James the Lord's brother is mentioned.
The same person, NOT James the son of Zebedee (who was among the twelve), must probably be indicated in 1st Corinthians 15:7.
Please consider Scripture as your source of authority, not the pope or traditions which you have been taught.

Mary is more like a messenger, like the angels. She said she prays for us and that we may present to her our intentions that she will take care of. Maybe she acts like a mediator/intercessor between us and Jesus but I really don't know.

Not only is my Latin very rusty, but I am not Catholic at all. Perhaps you are disappointed. I had VERY little exposure to Catholicism, and most of that because I used to watch an evangelical Catholic TV programme (but later these folks disappointed me, as being not enough 'evangelical' and far too Catholic). As a matter of fact, I was an adult convert to Christ.
What I did find helpful in the development of my faith was a compendium of 50 testimonies by ex-priests of the Roman denomination--------------because in it so many spoke eloquently of the Gospel of salvation by grace through faith. (Yes, I know also that faith without works is dead; but that is an amplification of the doctrine, NOT a contradiction.) The book is entitled, 'Far From Rome, Nearer To God' (or I think that's it).

I do not think that the situation is as clear-cut as you say, but to a large extent you are right. This would be a tragedy for believers IF the way of the world were the correct one, if 'getting ahead' really were the point of human existence. Or look at what Paul writes:
'For if the dead are not raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep [died] in Christ have perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.'
But Jesus, Who came 'from above', gives us the real picture. Behind the scenes of this life lies a deeper, spiritual reality. Those whose 'treasure' is on earth are NOT to be envied, because they cannot take it with them when they die. Those whose treasure is in heaven, who know God through Jesus Christ, have an inheritance awaiting them.
That is not to say that God is indifferent to economic injustice and suffering. There are many passages which condemn abuse of other human beings for the sake of material gain. See James chapter 5, verses 1-6, which begins:
'Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you........'
