Good to see you replaced the mid sole, I had a resole done by Loake to a pair of Loake boots very similar to the ones in this video , (Tewkesbury design) and they came back minus the mid sole when I mentioned this by e mail and a few phone calls to people higher up staff list I was sent a copy of Loakes' catalogue to choose a pair of boots so I picked a pair of blue Bedale lace up boots costing £295 ...all I wanted was a £90 repair
And here I remain faithful to this channel and watching its videos every time I want to relax.

Preach it Dan!!! Take out the old stitches!!! Not only is awful for the next guy who fixes it. The stitching over old stitches turns the welt into swiss cheese if has to be rewelted the customer has to pay a whole bunch more

I've got a similar pair of Loakes. One extra thing you can do when polishing is use some Acetone (nail varnish temover) on a cloth to remove where any polish has got on the elastic parts on the sides.
This is a rare art don't see many cobblers anymore, great job

@Tring Shoe Repairs, another fantastic video Dan! And yes I saw our little "ducky" friend Rob! "Father Stitchmas", lol... I have to say I really love to watch/listen to that old stitching machine, it reminds me of the machines my folks had once worked with in old textiles. I like those "Brit Soles", you made quick work of them, I wonder how they feel under the feet... The Creme you put on the boots, I think the slight "darkening" gave the leather a richer appearance, very nice! Your expression in the blooper reel @21:58.😄

Reminds me of the guy who put his shoes in the cobblers for new sole and heels. On his way home he bumped into an old school friend and was talked into joining the merchant navy. He was away for 14 years.
When he came home he found the ticket for the cobbler repair and handed it in out of curiousity. The cobbler looked at the ticket and went into the back of the shop.
He came back after 10 minutes and said to the guy, "they'll be ready on tuesday"! 🤣

I didn't realise that people still had shoes repaired. I havent worn dress shoes in decades and haven't seen a shoe repair place for about as long. That being said, these repairs were strangely satisfying to watch.
Shoe repair shops are very common place you still get timpsons on the high street but I prefer independent local business shoe repair shops I used to see a few around where i live but most have shut down but they are most definitely still around and always will be around

I don't know why Laboutin can't use proper red rubber soles instead of a bit of paint that wears off as soon as a pavement looks at it.

WARNING stop now! do not put hoosier slicks on you car to chase a ten. I ran a 13 sec quarter in my pop ten years ago, i am now chasing 8`s in my front engined dragster. Put them slicks on ya muscle car and it`s a road to ruin! SERIOUSLY ADDICTIVE FUN!! Just bought my first two pair of loakes and waiting on some JL boots! Keep up the content it is seriously good. I wish you were my local cobbler. My local one ruined a pair of my work boots and didn't even bother to apologize, much less offer a refund. And to make matters worse, he did a bad job at that as well.

nah. 1880 is ok but otherwise...
Is there any real reason you don't just glue items together once the contact adhesive has dried to the tacky stage instead of allowing the adhesive to fully dry them heating it up back into the tacky state? It makes sense to fully dry and reheat in a factory setting where you can't guarantee you will catch the glue at the correct time. But when doing it to only one or two shoes at a time, it seems inefficient to have to always reheat the glue.
Love watching your videos, I live across the pond, so I don't know how much you'd charge US for a resole. I was thinking of having you do a repair for my boss, who is a church pastor. I came across your channel before he rehired me, and I had already thought of having you do your work on his shoes.

I brought a pair of Dunlop wellies into Dan they had welded cow shite on them Dan turned them into a pair of Jeffrey west's cx horsehide with a custom pair of nipple tassels I was well pleased
