From a very early age like 4 to 5 my maternal grandmother Luella had one of those large black bibles, with the full pages of the biblical prophets and peoples etc., and she told me the stories of the bible using the photos at my child level, and added more with each year I became. We lived in lumber camps in eastern Oregon way out in the Blue Mountains out of Pendleton, Oregon. We had not electricity, running water, tall kerosene chimney lamps, with the wick that rolled up higher as it burned down, a wood cook stove in a small cabin that grandpa built, homemade wooden bed frames, and medium sized river rocks warmend in the stove warming oven, then wrapped in old clean cloth rags, and laid at the end of the bed, so our feet would reach them to keep us warm durning the long winter nights...SMILES, it was the best childhood, and I truly have longed for those simple days again.......I also look forward to the basic/simple times ahead. I am now 80 years old.......and have prepared every needful thing for what is ahead.....Prayers for us all......and our beloved prophet, and apostles and his counselors. I have always felt that I would get to live at least close to the second coming of CHRIST, it is up to him!

When I thought about having an exodus & wilderness experience - I thought about our pandemic experience. It was like an exodus to the wilderness when we couldn't go to church anymore. Who was faithful each Sunday when it was up to them to hold services? That was the test.
When we came back - it was still like a wilderness - only the faithful returned, and it was a very empty chapel. We had been sifted. We are still on a journey, still being tested with a scarcity of people to fill all the callings. But we have also been blessed and upheld and assisted.
I think that the pandemic was a sorting and a training, maybe it was a practice wilderness journey.

If you apply the TYPE in the Book of Mormon of the destruction that happened, and add to it the TYPE of an antichrist that wants to commit genocide on the world, the concept of being called out of the destruction to places of Divine protection is the most merciful thing you can imagine. That is the level of loving kindness the Lord has for His covenant bride (Israel)

I agree, the wilderness experience will be necessary for a few reasons. One, to divide the sheepfold from those who are willing to give up everything to follow Our Master and those who are not. Second, to purge those of us who are willing to follow Our Master from all vestiges of Babylon. Third, to tutor us to learn how to truly rely on the Lord b/c we will have nothing and need His constant sustaining influence. After a while, those of us who suffered through that wilderness journey will be established in the New Jerusalem and protected from the rest of the upheavals that come until the Lord finally judges the nations. There will be a few more groups that come to Zion as the Lord continues to call the dispersed of Israel and those Saints who are ready to repent even though they were not ready on the first call. However, I believe those who endure the wilderness journey will be among the most blessed in the last days.

I thought it describes well the motivation I've had to attend the Temple weekly &/or more often. Thus, Vaughn J. Featherstone's comment,"Those who are spared and prepared will be a Temple loving people." was comforting/confirming. I find the whole preparedness thing can often produce more fear than real preparedness. I do what I can with food & water storage, a generator etc. but I believe the Prophet has confirmed the most important preparedness is to be spiritually prepared. "Fleeing" can have many meanings. My personal feelings are that we all have had our own experiences of fleeing. I fled out of the world many years ago. That was both a physical and a spiritual fleeing. I believe fleeing is not an event, but a series of events throughout our individual lives. It is just going ramp up in coming days. If we have not been gaining strength through temples and the covenant path, it will eventually become too late. Another world war of which we are getting close will be a serious reason to have become spiritually prepared. Surviving that will take all the faith and trust in the Lord we can possible attain.

It's weird that you have done an episode on this topic. I often thought I was alone or what others may think as crazy for believing in this; but for years...I'd say about the last 10 years or so (even when I was inactive from church) I've had a strong feeling/impression that there will be a time when I'll need to go OR be asked to up and leave my home. Leave everything behind and just take what I need in order to live off of. I have gotten the strong impression that it will be a ongoing journey but not sure where it will lead but definitely within a group of people who are trying to stay safe from the world. I had no idea the reason whether it's economic collapse, religious persecution or whatever else but I know its tied into events prior to the Lord's coming.
For years now it's become so natural for me to live so simply and with hardly any possessions. It's actually more peaceful and less stressful for me. I became active in the church again two years ago (but not because of this feeling/impression) and since then, the Lord has blessed me so much. I was prompted right away to work on going through the temple for the first time in my life (I had gone to do baptisms in my youth but that was the extent). Within a few months after reactivation, my Bishop interviewed me and said I was ready and I received my recommend. I went through the temple on June 1, 2023 and received my endowment and it was one of the best days of my life.
I then was called this past January (2024) to work as an ordinance worker in the temple and I accepted. Prior to that I had wondered for a while what it would be like to be a worker and then I was called. (One of my prayers answered). It's been 6 months now and It's been a wonderful experience to go every week and help those go through, as well as do work for others beyond the veil. I have gained so much more knowledge and strength by going to the temple and I look forward to receiving more.
I know he has a plan for each and every one of us and I just know I'll be either called OR will volunteer when the Lord calls us out into the 'wilderness'...both physical and spiritual. I worry about my children and where they'll be and what they'll choose. All I can do is try to teach them and be an example, but they're grown and will make their own decisions. I just always pray for them as well as everyone around me that they will be strong and cling to the Lord and his gospel.

Absolutely a wilderness experience is mandatory in the process of sanctification. Consider how we invite our youth on a re-creation of the Trek. It is hard and hot and takes them out of their daily comforts and routines. Many choose to not participate because it is hard. The same occurs when we travel. Travel has been described as producing an alchemical process. We are taken into dissolution, challenged to learn and do differently, and then we are put back together better than we were before. That is the process of ascension/progression. It is happening right now and I am ready to flee when the Holy Ghost tells me it is time to go.

Haven’t some of the GAs said as much in General Conference? He will guide them to where there’s water and the wicked won’t be able to find them. D&C 63:65 talks about "an entire separation of the righteous and the wicked". Each time the wicked are destroyed, the righteous are called to leave first. We see this with Lot, Lehi, the brother of Jared, and many other examples. Before the Lord comes to destroy the wicked, will we be asked to separate ourselves from the wicked and asked to leave to places of refuge? In D&C 52:14 it says "And again, I will give unto you a pattern in all things, that ye may not be deceived..." This seems to be the Lord's pattern. I will not be suprised if we are called to leave into the "wilderness" by the prophet.

I am not sure, any more, what a wilderness journey is. I think it might not be what we expect.
I believe that we will be required to “flee” spiritually speaking. As for physically, some may need to flee. Others may be in the refuges and must be prepared the provide help and shelter.
I don’t believe the entire church will literally pick up and trek across wherever to wherever. My guess is it will be a calling for some to move physically. It will no doubt be necessary for some to relocate physically, depending on where they find themselves. But I no longer envision a grand expedition of millions, as I used to.
I am learning that nothing ever plays out as we have envisioned it in our minds. We must be open minded, humble, repentant, and be prepared to recognize what comes even though it isn’t as we expected. Humility, striving to purify our hearts of pride, and trust in the Lord are what will protect us.

I have to be honest I think we are In for a wilderness experience. I believe the time will come when we have to collect together as a people. Nothing is impossible to the Lord, but when are together as a people, a Zion people looking after, and caring for each other. Also the Lord will not want us to be subject too or our children to witness the coming of the degradation of society that will be upon us directly prior to the final coming of the Lord.

❤We see armies going after Christians in other nations if we look closely. I've wondered if that would come here when the antichrist is in power. The wicked have always tried to hurt the righteous. If nuclear fallout ever covered our land we will have to go high in the mountains in order to live through months of exposure. Even in our own neighborhoods there could be extreme violence if stores closed, if the power shut off long term, of a natural disaster occured. Gangs could really cause havoc. This was seen during Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. It became a very dangerous place as water and food was being stolen from those who had waited hours in line. I do believe many will flee to places they think will be the safest. Families might gather together for safety. May the Lord prepare each of us as the tribulation draws nearer with wisdom and added blessings of spiritual understanding.

@@spirtualsurvival I did mean to thank you Randy. I’m always thrilled when you pop up on my CZcams home page. I love your insights and thoughtfulness. You more often than not take me down roads I haven’t travelled before and am always better for the journey.
I can understand people not waiting to believe in a wilderness experience. Who wants to leave their homes and comforts and venture, if you will out into the unknowns, and I feel the same, but what I want and what we might have to do can be two different things. The Lord can both protect His people and punish the wicked if the saints are collected together as a group. Plus I would not want my grandchildren (I’m in my seventies) to to be exposed or witness many things that will happen in the last days.
Thanks again Randy for all you do.

I almost always listen to your videos 2 or 3 x.. as I work though the many concepts that you bring up. I have many thoughts about your videos and many times it take me through the week, as I ponder your words. I deeply appreciate your pondering and/or thoughts. I am many times wondered about a wilderness experience. I do think that wilderness experiences come in many ways, and not just one way. As Lehi and family had a wilderness experience.. so did Jesus, for 40 days. What I mean here, is that not all wilderness experiences take us away from home to a new home.. however all wilderness experiences take us to a new kind of home,.. a new way of being. Just my 2 cents. God bless you as you continue with this work.

Thank you for this! I had a powerful wilderness experience that lasted about 15 years. During this time just about everything in my life fell apart. I experienced paradoxical abrahamic trials. It happened when the Lord prompted me to move my family to a new city. At the time I believed that everything would fall into place. But it was exactly the opposite. I am now so grateful for the wilderness experience and how I've come to know the Lord through it. But I also know that calamities are coming upon this country and the world. There will be places of protection prepared for those who will follow the Lord's direction. It will be a deeply sanctifying experience that we will look back on and praise God because it prepared us for the ultimate land of promise, the presence of Our Savior Jesus Christ in Zion.

Are we not already experiencing a wilderness experience? Are we not already fleeing from Babylon? Look at the separation that is already happening especially within the church. Also the separation between those who believe in Christ and those who don’t. I agree that only the temple and our covenants will strengthen us as we continue in this wilderness and other difficult circumstances we will have to endure.

A thought that has motivated me to increase my temple attendance is likening the temple to Noah’s ark. Many scholars have identified such parallels and it’s an interesting topic of study. I believe President Nelson is a modern day Noah of sorts - pleading with us to get in the ark, to be saved spiritually, before it is too late. “Time is running out”!

As you are reading all these Isaiah scriptures all I can think about is temple, temple, temple. The House of the Lord is the answer. Maybe we should all increase our temple attendance by a lot. As much as we possibly can. And pray that more people can go to the temples. You know there are so many announced and under construction. I think our wilderness experience will be increased attendance in the temples. Maybe I’m way off. That’s what I feel.

Yes, our prophets have been trying to get us to exit Spiritual Babylon forever, and President Nelson is no different. Will we have a physical exodus to New Jerusalem? Brigham Young at his time said some will. However, there is a revelation given by Joseph Smith and retold by Wilford Woodruff that Christ will come to the wasatch front, then we will go back. Does that mean everyone will go back and have a physical exodus? I don't know, but we have modern prophets to receive such revelation.

@@spirtualsurvival many years ago (about 45 or so) I received advice from my mil that has stayed with me. She told me to follow the prophet. We have the promise that he will never be allowed to lead us astray. It reminds me of when Alma was first visited by the angel and was told to stop persecuting the Christians even if he, himself would be destroyed. The Lord would definitely step in. But we have no promise with anyone else. We are also taught that yes, we are all eligible for revelation, but only for ourselves and those over which we have stewardship. Julie Rowe does not have stewardship over me. What she has experienced might be valid for her. But it is not for the entire church. I have had some pretty rock solid experiences myself. But they are for me. Not for anyone else. I appreciate what you are doing here. And I believe it has value. But I choose to stick with the prophets as far as revelation given to the Church.
