Just watched Julia's video tour of her apartment. What a gorgeous, well-defined apartment she has with the beautiful furnishings, the family heirlooms, and her commentary which I loved hearing. Her 2007 book, "The House on First Street" is truly the best memoir I've read in a long time as I have read many over the years. Julia is a truly- talented writer, as she easily weaves her historical knowledge of New Orleans, along with her hilarious insights into the people she knows and some of those she has to endure during her renovation. I was touched by stories and brilliant insights she wrote about her life during and after Katrina, and Julia's description of her tours through the city's devastation was like being with her as we drove around with the National Guard. Read her memoir, as it will stay with you long after you finish it. Last week, I received her new book, "Julia Reed's New Orleans," and look forward to reading it. Molly McDermott

Just came across this tonight. And what a treat for me! This is the kind of home, so full of lovely-family pieces and personal collections of great and small value, which I could contentedly plumb about for hours and hours with perhaps? one of those delicious Bloody Mary's to sip upon! I'd love to chat with this wonderful southern gal, Miss Julia, voice and all any old time!

I just found out about her from the magazine Southern Living. I'm sorry she passed away and she was only 60! She would be someone I'd like to meet. I bet she was a lot of fun and really interesting.

On your desk in the pencil container you have a feather. I have a feather as well in my pencil container. I picked it from the ground at the Milwaukee Zoo in 1966-on my honeymoon. What is your feather's story?

Not a fan of her books (some are a bit mean spirited) but I do like her home. The light is lovely against the old chintz prints.

Warning DO NOT use ann dupuy in new Orleans. Very unprofessional and rude . Went over on time and way over on cost due to her lack of organization and disregard for what the customer wants .

So? She has a deep voice. She also has/is a voice for literacy, love, beauty, culture, architecture, interiors, gardens, hospitality . . . I won’t go on, but I could.
