  • Building on the ceramic resonator regenerative receiver recently described this transmitter-receiver uses a 7.160 MHz ceramic resonator in a companion QRP CW transmitter. Housed in the same box as the receiver it allows operation in the bottom 60 kHz of the 7 MHz CW segment.
Note: At 2:26 there is some text in the diagram which may be unclear around the choke in the collector of the BD139. The text reads ‘3 turns choke FB’. It’s 3 turns on a 6 hole ferrite bead.

Nice little rig! I know because I recently build it.
The audio was to low for me, so I build in a small 386-amp.
Missing a sidetone when keying, so a simple one-tr osc is inside.
The RX is easely overloaded at evenings, so I put in a switch with an 18 ohm Attenuator, when needed.
I was getting over 0.8 Watt at 12 VDC, and over 1 Watt at 15 VDC.
An PSU-power box from an old computer is a good idea if You have.
An very good building- info how to build this station can be find in SPRAT magazine #174 Spring 2018.
Can be recommended by me, it is a small nice QRP box.

The regenerative receiver already contains a generator, I wonder if is it possible to turn it into a simple transceiver using the same coil for tuning both to receive and transmit?

All it does is run the transmitter oscillator and buffer stage for as long as you hold it in so you can listen to the transmitter frequency in the transceivers earpiece, enabling you to set the heterodyne correctly.

Do you have a fixed circuit diagram or other details we can try to use to duplicate this?

All that is required to build it is in the video. Just pause it and sketch the circuits out.
