This game will live forever as one of the best ever on the GameCube. It still looks great almost two decades later.
It and Skyward Sword have aged surprisingly well graphically unlike Twilight Princess.
This and MGS3 aged like wine
@@traviscunningham7062Twilight Princess still looks great. I don't care what anyone says. In actuality the hd version makes it look worse because they just upscaled it but didn't overhaul the textures and character models so it actually makes the flaws far more noticeable.

Playing the HD version in 2023 brought the same feeling of wonder as when I played it the first time in 2003.
Im glad I got to experience it on the Wii U since the map on the gamepad made the exploration while saling much more immersive.
Say what you want about the artstyle
but it made a GAMECUBE game look VERY GOOD and has aged well, i understand the cel-shaded artsyle may have helped it in the departement, but other games also use the same artstyle and still look terrible.
That's the magic you only find in Nintendo games. Amazing art direction that has aged very well.
I mean the GameCube may have been a failure but the console itself was still pretty good, all the games looked pretty and even GameCube Twilight Princess looked good

I was tired of waiting and just bought the Wii U a couple of days ago. Bought wind waker HD, twilight princess hd, new super Mario bros u, new super Mario bros Luigi u, paper Mario color splash, yoshi’s woolly world and donkey kong tropical freeze. Happy gaming it’s is! 😎
im glad i still have my Wii U lol TbH that game looks like a switch game but its played on the Wii u ! We have to thanks the HDMI cable.

Even tho the WiiU Version obviously has the much better graphics, the Gamecube Version still looks amazing to this day, especially compared with most other Gamecube and even Wii Games.
Also, I like the tone and colour shading of the original much better

Do The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess - GameCube vs Wii vs WiiU!
The GameCube version did not appear that blurry from my memory, probably because it's been so long since I've played a console that uses a RCA cable on a CRT TV. We were also sitting further back and not right next to our monitors. So, while it may appear blurry here, I can assure you that it did not look as bad growing up with it. Also, playing on an emulator like Dolphin resolves this issue.
The crt made it look better
It legitimately does, the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox and their generational predecessors were designed with CRTs in mind.
But it's not *that* dramatic an improvement, either. It's more about taking advantage of the well-understood limitations of the CRT to hide the seams, smooth the edges, both literally and metaphorically, and using various tricks to give the illusion of the game looking better than it's actual, raw image.

This game will always have a special place in my heart. I was absolutely one the people who hated the art direction of the game when it was first unveiled. It’s still not my favorite, but I do think it’s timeless and very charming. I do genuinely love this game, and just recently got my Wii U out of storage (was hoping this and TPHD would have been ported to Switch by now 🙄) and have been replaying it. It’s still just so damn great, and really makes me feel a certain way 🥲
One of the most overlooked things is the music. In the original, its a little more poppy and aggressive with less variety, where in the HD remake, it has a lot more instruments that feel softer and more blended

I don't agree that makes it better. It just makes it similar to the Kingdom Hearts HD re-releases that used a more orchestrated score instead of the more synthetically based soundtracks from the original games.
The way the original synthetic tracks in both cases are how those tracks were originally envisioned, so a redux to them is basically just a remix, but not necessarily a superior upgrade. Just a different flavor. If this was actually a good remaster, you'd have a choice between original, and new scores, not limited to one.

I don't get why this game's problem was cell shading. IMO that is what makes this game unique and stand out. Sure, at that time nobody would expect a Toon Link, when the games were heading towards a realist visual direction. But this version of link, Toon link, lives rent-free on my mind.
BOTW and TOTK does the same but worse and with ugly as crap terrain and nobody complains
It was this games "problem" because at the time people wanted a more realistic and adult zelda, to prove people wrong that Nintendo was just for kids.
@@PAINt0theMAXThank you! Honestly the GameCube version of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess as well as the Wii version of Skyward Sword were the best looking Zelda games. The hd versions improved the fidelity but ruined their unique aestectic. At least Skyward Sword Hd has 60fps and some quality of life improvements.
@@spartanq7781I see literally nothing wrong with 1080p Twilight princess HD and Windwaker HD I’m slowly progressing in them and the Gamepad is handy.
I've grown up with gamecube cause it looks like a cartoon but the wii u made the game look too bright in my opinion
They did the same with the Zelda Ocarina of Time remake on the Nintendo3ds. It's too bad because the texture work they did is phenomenal, but all the forest themed location and 'horror' ones are way too yellow/bright. WW on wii u does look really good, they did work more on some shadows, but in outdoor and sunny locations, it looks like it was filmed through a camera with greasy lens lol.

I don't know why but I like the look of the original game more, gives me an old anime aesthetic.
Wii U is superior here, it’s just a version with better graphics, resolution and better color and also some bonus content. The game on GameCube still looks good it had an amazing artistic style

They are both great but the more poppy cel shading and deeper colors of the original are just perfect and always will be windwaker is such a large open feeling breathy atmospheric game

I played the original on GameCube, and I bought the HD for Wii U when it came out. But I turned it on, didn't like the new graphics, and turned it back off. That was several years ago, but recently I went back to the Wii U version and I'm enjoying it. But every time I use the windwaker, I think of that little yellow rubber C stick.

Wii u really made this game extremely beautiful. And gamecube had the idea, so both of them are godlike

I have only played a couple of hours of both the GameCube and Wii U version and overall, I prefer the Wii U look and also the game play improvements, but the GameCube looks mighty fine. However, the camera controls are inverted for me on the Wii U and it drives me up the wall. Playing thru Twilight Princess on the GameCube and lovin' it. Next in Wind Waker and I will be choosing the GameCube version.
Camera controls are inverted - you mean if you go down it goes up? Any other annoying changes?
I've just seen a video complaining about the changes with the HD version of Twilight Princess and when I played it about 3 years ago, it did feel weird in some aspect but I couldn't put my finger on it. I wonder WW got the same treatment.
Say what you will about the game’s graphics, but I think the quality of life updates the wii u made to the new instalment are a welcome addition.
I own the GameCube version, and I’m a completionist, so naturally I had to 100% complete that game. I did, and it wasn’t easy. There are many things I wish this version of the game has which the newer one improved upon. Like the swift sail, skipping animations when playing the windwaker, an indicator for whether a photo taken by the pictobox can be used to make a figurine (you have no idea how many times I would take a photo, only for it to be rejected by the Nintendo gallery curator, it’s especially infuriating when you get only one chance to take a picture of a certain character, cyclos for instance), a cross heir when shooting bombs from your boat or using the deku leaf, and most importantly, not having true 100% completion locked behind the tingle tuner.
Seriously, I don’t own a game boy or link cable, so not being able to get the last figurine is so frustrating. And the cross heirs would’ve come in handy, especially when doing the eyed reefs (I despise those things) and the flight platform deku leaf challenge. I just have to live with it. At least it was changed in the wii u.

Oh, sorry to give you the wrong idea. The WiiU’s graphics are fine, it’s just that there are some people who prefer the graphics from the GameCube version. It really boils down to each console’s take on cell shading.

The GameCube version has better color. The Wii U has some white dog/light over the screen. But the Wii U version looks a lot better in detail. I have the Wii U version and I still haven't played it yet. I also have twilight princess HD for my Wii U and I still haven't played it yet either

But the Windwaker Hd has some gameplay features that are welcome like the swift sail so you not only go faster but don’t have to conduct winds requiem every 3 seconds. Also I think the triforce quest is a bit easier too.

i love both versions but they are very different. If you emulate the gamecube version at at least 1080p with the filters at max youd be surprised

If you have an older TV the GC version looks so much better. Those old CRT tvs hid a lot of the imperfections you see and to this day the colors on a CRT are better than almost all modern tvs which are just not catching up with OLED. I happen to have an older tv for retro games and can say with confidence the GC version looks better on a CRT than the HD version looks on an HD tv
Someone who understands that old games look better years ago because of CRT, you're smart bro. But I think with Crt Shaders u can get similar experience and have with Oled the best of the 2 worlds

I love the Legend of Zelda but I think I judged Toon Link. I haven’t played WindWaker nor Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. It looks really great and I shouldn’t judge by other fans thoughts about it.
Este juego lo rehicieron aunque sea el mismo, y si no mal recuerdo costaba menos de 40 dólares. En cambio hoy en día te venden un Zelda de Wii y que HD aunque solo es escalado a 60 dólares cuando nintendo ni se encargó en rehacer a los personajes
De hecho, costaba lo mismo que un juego de hoy en día, unos 60 dolares mas o menos, si no es que 50. Nintendo casi nunca rebajó sus juegos normales aún en los tiempos de Wii U xD, solo cuando sacaron los Nintendo Select.
Una pregunta amigos conocedores del tema, en la versión de wii u hubo algún cambio con la historia y/o algún agregado ó ambas versiones son lo mismo quitando de lado los gráficos?
@@changolion31 The WiiU Version has some Quality of Life-Improvements over the GC-Version, such as the special sail, with which you can sail much faster, or not having to hunt all the treasure maps

I started playing Twilight Princess on the Wii U, then I switched over to the GameCube, and it fine. The GameCube actually controls a bit better, the sticks are not so touchy as the Wii U version. There are a few minor game play improvements on the Wii U though, but hardly makes a difference. The Wii U version of course looks better graphically.

the wii u version looks so much better! The Graphics are charming, the sound is clean, and there are little changes which make it look more fun (Btw I havn't played the wii u version I'm just saying it looks better)

I can already see it in the title screen that the HD port looks so much worse. Who thought the overblown lighting and bloom and other effects were a good idea? It always makes a game look much worse.
Fun fact: the compressed wiu disc image file is less bigger than the gamecube one.
Actually now that i think about my comment again. I really hope they bring another remake or port ww hd to switch… which has been rumored for some time now. Then I wouldnt need to get a wii u and have a wii and a wii u. Which honestly i wouldn’t mind anyways as a Nintendo/zelda collector… i will probably get it anyway but would be nice not to have to. Plus i love my pro controller..

Of course the wii looks better but I'm emulating the original at 2x resolution and got rid of the distance blur. Looks and Plays great.

The GameCube version looks way better. The remake is over saturated with so much bloom that is ruins the lighting and the cell shaded visuals.

Wii U obviously looks better but the Gamecube version has that nostalgia charm. Especially with the gamecube button layout at the top of the screen
Plus, the GameCube version has the infinite soup glitch, while the Wii U version does not, as far as we know. The only thing the Wii U version has better over the GameCube version is the graphics and mechanics. That's really it.
