  • In this video we are experiencing our first Tampa Florida thunderstorm. We recorded this video from the start of the storm to finish to document it. This is the first time we have experienced such loud thunder. It sounded like the thunder was right in the same room!

I love Florida summer thunderstorms. Lots of lightning. Have you heard of Lakeland, Florida? It's located about 30 miles east of Tampa going towards Orlando.

Great video, please do more storm content. I’m convinced Florida weather is trying to kill everyone lol.

When I traveled to Tampa last summer, the streets were flooded with water after a rainstorm. This was by the mall with Neiman Marcus in it. You could have taken a boat 🛶 down the streets. It looks like newer developments like yours are faring well.

We saw some flooding when we came down in 2020 so I could only imagine!

It’s crazy when storms last an hour or longer

We moved from NY and had our fair share of storms. But we have never experienced such thunder like this before!

It does in NY and NJ too - just less powerful all in all.

50 year old, 4th generation Floridian here. You guys will be ok, I promise. lol We received almost 6 inches in a little over an hour in Bartow (just east of Tampa) a few weeks before Ian came through. No one even talked about it at work the next day. We finished that month (September) with over 25 inches.

Was it as wide then as it is now. I’ve heard that it was only 2 lanes in each direction.

I used to hang with one of the Hill Billy girls from there and she used to tear around on a dirt bike where there is now sub divisions.
