It is not often that you can feel the emotional pain of another person just by seeing and hearing them speak, but this statement by Roman Polanski is one of those times. I am the same age as his unborn baby would be had he lived, and we (coincidentally) share the same first name.

The sad part of this is you can see, and hear the sadness, hurt, and pain he had. The hard thing to see is people in Hollywood, and others knew this man needed help, he was heartbroken, and perhaps even suicidal, somebody needed to help this poor man. He didn't direct for 2 years, there were so many signs, that went unchecked.
The press conference was the most heartbreaking thing I've ever heard. As said earlier God someone help this poor man.

listening to Roman Polanski here breaks my heart. absolutely…..incomprehensible -is the right word. this is the way the 1960’s ended. the decade of peace & love & the best music ever created & so many many other wonderful artistic & creative productions. & this is how it ended. it affected everyone who was around at the time, but no one more than Roman. forever sad.

He made inexcusable choices later in life, which there is no excuse for, but my heart aches for the turmoil of not only losing his beloved wife but precious son and dear friends as the images of the house that once housed magnificent parties are seared in his memory as now a slaughterhouse. Polanski certainly loved Sharon. I read he had his infidelities yet he was not going to leave Sharon nor her him. Sharon in 2022 is now remembered more as a wonderful wife, friend and future star & mother. I will never forget her as the beauty she had nor the person was. Peace with God Sharon. 😘🙏

Some people claim that he never loved Sharon. I didn't know either of them, so it's not for me to judge. But I do believe that, judging by this interview, he was in terrible pain that he couldn't have faked. Maybe he wasn't a good husband. Some have said he wasn't, but as I said before, that's not for me to judge, but I do think he cared for her, and probably was looking forward to their child, as was Sharon. Such a terrible, terrible thing to happen to them. Yes, I know he did bad things in his life. My own opinion is that there were aspects of his past that may have warped certain aspects of his character. But no matter what he did, he never did anything as evil as what Manson and his 'family' did to him. I remember the news reports and the interviews at the time, and I was just filled with sympathy for the poor man that never went away, even after the revelations about how he treated some young women of his acquaintance. I always thought that Sharon's murder and the murder of their child and the terrible experiences that Polanski had during the war had affected him in negative ways, which didn't excuse his behaviour, but maybe explained it somewhat. That's just my opinion.

We do not know the real details of his or her life. Not the feelings, love or hate. We don't know their private interactions with each other. I think it's common knowledge that he was a womanizer but beyond all of those things the only we know for certain is that he was a movie producer/director who was married to a beautiful pregnant woman and that on that one night a group of truly disgusting, evil people came into the home and murdered her and their friends. Even then, we only know what we read in the papers, saw on tv, or heard from other sources. What he did years later is not connected, that I know of, to this crime or his life before it. You cannot say that he did not love his wife or unborn child just on the basis of the disgusting act that came years later. You can't judge the the feelings and emotions of the man in this video, at that time, by his acts years later and that's what we tend to do. He's disgusting but that doesn't mean what he was feeling during this interview was fake.

On March 10, 1977, 43-year-old film director Roman Polanski was arrested and charged in Los Angeles with six offenses against Samantha Gailey (now Geimer),[2] a 13-year-old girl:[3] unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, rape by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy, a lewd and lascivious act upon a child under the age of 14, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor. At his arraignment, Polanski pleaded not guilty to all charges[4] but later accepted a plea bargain whose terms included dismissal of the five more serious charges in exchange for a guilty plea to the lesser charge of engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.[5]

I know, and there isn't other movie besides the original, I just don't think it's that similar for example : Rosemary does not die, she is not murdered like Sharon was, by the end of the movie Rosemary is shaking the baby's crib. Sharon and the 4 other people in the house were murdered by Manson's followers, I don't see the resemblance like you all do, this is why my comment, if he had more info he could share
Maybe Roman wanted fame and money and gave Sharon+ the baby for that.. for the movie to be successful... I recently found out an interview with John Todd that he says the reason she died and the symbolism behind her death indicate she wanted to leave (leave the Illuminati, Satanism) and they killed her because of it .

No, he did not want her to abort because she told him when it wasn't possible to do that anymore. (Of course because she feared he would want her to abort the kid)
The reason for this was not because he had fun going out and didn't want a crying baby at home. It was because his mother had died in a gas chamber at Auschwitz, also pregnant, and he didn't want to have another woman experience such pain while being pregnant (even though it was sure Sharon wasn't going to die in a gas chamber)
Sadly, his fear was made real with Sharon's murder, almost nine months pregnant.
