I didn't mean the dude with the food was comfortable with it. As far as the Africa comment, I was just pointing out how different cultures view behavior like that. Most of us do find it rude!

    In Java they call it pisang kepok (kepok banana). They eat them raw, cover them in flour and fry in boiled oil, or roast them and eat them with cheese.

      Greenish blue is too raw. Mostly when they start to get yellowish green.

      Garden Center Warrior What a Fruit! After tasting a few more of the bunch, I think it tastes similar to our common bananas in the store but creamier with a hint of vanilla. The next one to ripen will spend an hour or 2 in the fridge.... I think they will taste even better chilled. Thanks for the comment and support 😀

    here we have some bananas called "guineos manzanos"(apple bananas), they are short and chubby like those, but the skin is thinner, and they are very fragrant, and the taste is so much better than other varieties.....i still need to try that blue java.....the texture of the apple bananas is better, slightly firmer than that one looked.

      i've been looking for blue java bananas for months.....but all i've found online are ridiculously overpriced tiny plants. i feel raped just thinking about paying the equivalent of 60-90usd for a tiny, undeveloped banana plant that has a high chance of dying on its way here.

    I like how he adressed that he didnt like him doing that (taking bite of the banana). More people should set up their boundaries so we could learn about each other and change the world slowly. Because there is still to much of a mindset that, if you say something like that, that you are not friendly, you will hurt others feeling, but it is not. It is just a start up for a better comunication and consent.

      @@brindhaanand598 They are blue when unripe. I showed a blue (unripe) banana in the video. Some people fry them and eat them when blue, but the taste. flavor, and experience is different.

    How long does this variety take for it to flower from a sucker plant

      Under the right conditions, 3-5 years in San Diego is my guess. The one I got last fall was about 2 feet and has already grown a foot this season.

      If you harvest it when blue/green. It is eaten fried. If you wait until they are ripe like the one we tasted, it's very sweet with a smooth and creamy texture.

    Too bad I'm allergic to bananas. They don't give me really bad reactions, I just taste the banana as "spicy". If I eat a whole one, my stomach just gets upset.

      They are very blue when young. In parts of the world, they pick them and fry them blue. They are bland like plantains at that stage. In our video, they are fully ripe are they best in my opinion.

      They are most blue when very young, mature to the blue green you see in the video at around 6 months, and then turn yellow around 1 year after flowering in San Diego, CA.

      Yes, like vanilla ice cream when the fruit is totally ripe. When blue, they are starchy and are often fried in oil.

      They are when very young. However, if you eat them when blue, they are usually fried and starchy. They taste best when they turn yellow and plump.

      The only place I've even seen these plants for sale is over here in Arizona in Apache Junction so if you ever take a road trip check it up

      @@ClickBoom206 they should. I know they had a lot of pups when i was there, and some other ones i think they were waiting on to mature, in the not for sale area. Good Luck! mine has been doing ok so far. This heat and intense makes the leaves all droopy in the day though
