  • Taking every break I can in the weather, I took this opportunity to head down west and fish some different waters. I haven't drifted for Haddock in the this area on my own boat before and I was thrilled with the day I had. As you will see there was a fair amount of ground swell still out there making the day far from perfect. I hope you find some useful information and enjoy the fishing as much as I did.

John you are a star! Really enjoyed the simplicity of this presentation and how you show that we need to throw back the undersized or less usable species to let them grow and reproduce. I worry about the countries that scrape the seabed clean of species to extract the popular and dispose of the undesirable, dead back in the ocean. Love your message x

I overlook the Straits, so can pop down and find settled fishing when everywhere else has been blown off.

      - I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'm sorry but no not really. I can't make a video explaining what you can take home. Simply because the rules in every place are different and the rules are constantly changing. If I did make a video it would be an hour long to cover all the rules for all the different species and even then it would only be relevant to my area of the coast and at the time I made it. They could change the rules next week and my video would be giving people the wrong information. The best advice I can give is to speak to your local fisheries authority so they can give you the up to date relevant rules for your area. :)

With a multiplier reel the rod guides/eyes are turned 180 degrees (rod guides/eyes facing towards the sky usually right handed reeling) a spinning rod is usually used with the dominant hand for casting and rod guides facing the water/downward for casting lures/baits can be used either right or left handed reeling just depends on the individual user really

I have to ask what you think is the best eating fish? For me, you can't beat Haddock. I have a friend who runs a fish and chip shop in Doncaster and he tells me he cant sell Haddock because all his customers ask for Cod. To me Haddock flesh is much more delicate and tender, it tastes much better than Cod, which is a bit chewy for my liking.
