- This piece is a humble homage to the brazilian master percussionist Naná Vasconcelos. It is inspired by his work on this beautiful instrument. It is also played with all my respect to capoeira and capoeiristas all around the world.

This called Berimbau my brother, is a Brazilian instrument we used it mainly in capoeira circles.

(full disclosure, I'm an audio engineer and I only came here to learn about miking a berimbau after hearing it on an israeli record)
What would have happened if you pointed the mic at the front of the gourd instead of the side?
whenever i have an unknown instrument in front of me i like to put an sdc over the shoulder, so at least the recorded sound is close to what the player is hearing.
That, or ask the player where most of the sound comes from
I thibk it would be more difficult to capture the "wha wha" sound that come from the contact of the musician body with de hollow piece of wood (cabaça)
Could I use this and record bongos over it as long as I credit you?
