STEVEN, 35, had kidney failure five years ago and so decided to tattoo his face after realising life was too short. The support worker, from Scarborough UK, suffered from illness in 2016 and when he went to the hospital, they informed him that his kidneys were functioning at 3%. That gave him the push to start tattooing his face and little by little most of his body was covered in ink. How will Steven react once he sees himself without any tattoos in this transformation? Will his friends recognise him?

I've known this guy.... King Capo for 16 years and honestly he is one of the kindest most down to earth living legends you could ever meet. I consider myself blessed to know him.
He does seem like a really nice guy. He did seem rather pleased with how he looks without them. I hope it all works out well for him!

Just from the little 5 minutes of a clip I got from him that he's a special kinda guy. Well…. He was super hott, too. I have tatts, love them on people etc. but what a beautiful face he covered.
He seems like a really cool guy everyone would like to be friends with.
Personally I prefer the way he looks without the tats. You don’t see his face with it all covered, without them he’s really a very good looking guy.

On the other hand, I think having those tatts made him fulfilled.

@@shellpeters4046 I have 0 tats and piercings, correct. Never even considered getting one. And neither does my wife which is extremely rare this day and age. Nothing better than natural beauty. Tats just take away from the natural beauty of a person, specifically women, in my opinion.
I've got one on my shoulder. Im 44, got it when I was 18. I wouldn't get it if I had it to do over, but its kinda nice when I see it in the mirror. I remember how dumb I used to be.
I do not judge people that want to have ink on their skin but honestly his head and face look so much better with the tattoos covered up. He is the one who has to be happy in the end but for me is an improvement for him.

Yeah. I love tattoos and honestly would want to be covered for a large part (e.g. sleeves, back piece maybe, ribs maybe). I've got some tattoos on my legs. But to me especially tattoos on the head just don't do it for me. I like tattoos to be a piece of art and they facial tattoos generally don't look that good to me, but that's personal taste. There's also something uncanny valley about it, because the face is essentially covered. Subtle skin movements vanish visually because of the ink, things you generally don't notice consciously. That didn't change once he had the makeup on, though. It was still uncanny valley. But what matters is that he's a handsome dude with an interesting story.

@@dterm8526 i think I see past all of it. I’m heavily inked and know most of us have gone through some trauma and reclaimed our body how we wanted to. And most of us have the biggest hearts because of the things we have been through and seen. That’s my perspective at least.

@@sirphew4941 Why does getting a tattoo make someone a sheeple? And what does smoking have to do with any of this? And what do consequences have to do with any of this? All my tattoos were things I've wanted for years. They can be covered by clothing and aren't found to have an adverse effect on physical health.
You're calling others sheeple for just making their own choices with their own body. If anything, to me you're the sheep for staying with your flock, afraid of the shepherd's dog called "Consequences". It's fine if you don't want tattoos. They're an esthetic choice that's not everyone's cup of tea. I honestly find some tattoo styles absolutely hideous and am not a fan of facial tattoos, but then again it's not my body. I am also not a fan of some folks' interior designs, nor of some music genres, nor some architectural styles, nor some types of food or fashion, but as long as it doesn't harm others, who the hell cares? You don't have to act all high and mighty because you don't want to get a tattoo.

You look WAY more handsome without. It's very nice to see your face. My son's father passed away 5 years ago from complications of kidney failure. Our son has the same disease but in reverse. Our son was diagnosed at 9 with incomplete and distal renal tubular acidosis. He's 27 now and has had acute failure 30+ times. I know how horribly sick people get with kidney disease. I promise to keep you in my prayers always. I wish you the absolute best.

I have never heard a really definitive reason why people with tattoos started filling their body and head with tattoos, except for such things as, "it seemed cool at the time," or, "my friends and I were having a competition." Tattoos force you to forever relive whatever state of mind you were in years ago when you got tattoos. People change as they get older, so "dating" yourself via tattoos seems quite risky as we move into the future. 😮

For some, it is an addiction or compulsion. Others might use it to hide, like wearing a mask. I assume that getting attention would be a reason as well. Whatever the motive, one has to live with one's choices, who am I to judge. Well, I don't :)

In a way I like dating myself via tattoos. I know exactly what was going on in my life when I got my first three tattoos. Admittedly they're all just a few years old, so I might change, but I also know how much I've grown since I got certain ones. I look at my tattoos and think of what situation I was in and how much I've learned since then. For example, one was right after landing a new job and a few days after breaking up with my girlfriend at the time because of, ironically, my fear for commitment. I've worked on that fear, I've changed, I've grown, and I have a far better job now too. My first tattoo is a small bass clef on my ankle, to symbolise my love for the bass guitar and music in general. It also made me feel like I truly claimed my own body. I also have a large samurai on my leg, which was honestly just super cool as I've always liked samuari. And there's definitely more to come. I look forward to being old and wrinkled and look at the tattoos of my younger self. Some people keep diaries for that purpose. I want art that means something to me on my skin. But honestly, I wouldn't want neck or face tattoos as they really change your appearance forever, no matter what you're wearing.

My eyes are so confused. I can’t tell what to look at with all the bright tats everywhere. It’s hard to tell what a person looks like with all the tats on their face. Nothing hateful just how our eyes and brains are. With the makeover, he looks SO good!! He doesn’t have an amazing jaw line!

Being a survivor myself I can truly understand his words. I spent 6 months in the hospital 2015-2016 and many more months w/ 33 plus major surgeries. When I was 19 my ex-husband and I went to get our first ones. I only have 6 but after almost dying 3 times I just feel like there is something missing in my life. My career was as a flight attendant before I fell ill and they made us cover any tattoos! I am 48 single and no children, but I'm also very ill and was given about a 10 year "life sentence". My dad says I must be part cat w/ 9 lives😹

Tattoo ink particles can travel through the blood and become lodged in the liver. It does cause harm similar to smoking or excessive drinking, but multiple tattoos are a red flag for mental illness.

He has great facial structure all lost by the tattoos. I always wonder how these people can spot skin cancer or rashs that could indicate serious health problems. When he said he wanted to hide that said it all. All those tattoos were inspired by fear. A sad reason.
Yeah, that's indeed a risk. It's often advised to get checked before getting a big piece that covers a large area just in case, because once it's there you can't really check for cancer.

Have you ever seen people things put under their skin? Some look like horns. Some have their teeth shaved down really going out there. Want to look like the Devil.

Getting a tattoo would be like wearing the same piece of jewelry everyday and your taste will change from your 20’s into your 50’s. That Bugs Bunny tattoo isn’t that cool when you’re on the golf course with hotshot executives.
I got a dolphin tattoo on the upper inside of my boob when I was 16. It's a good one and never showed. However, after cancer I had implants put in (serious A- cup before) now the dolphin is front and center. I don't hate it but I wish I had it on my hip...

I think he is a good looking bloke without the tattoos. I think he sees that now also. I like tattoos, I have a nice size tattoo on my outer thigh. I show it whenever it’s shorts weather and can conceal it with pants or a skirt. All kids should be forced to,see this. He has no light in his eyes when you see the face tattoos, and when he saw himself in the mirror with the concealer, his entire demeanor changed, there was light in his eyes.

Always wondered why we both speak English but living in America there are many words that are different. First time I noticed this was years ago when I started watching a British car show I noticed they had different names for the same car parts I'll just look it up on the web later I guess
I love tattoos I I've had a fascination with them since I was little! I don't have any, but am considering it. He's actually a pretty good looking guy without his tattoos! I was surprised! some people actually do look better with their tattoos, or unique styles, but he looks really good without them! His story is inspiring, though. I've had too many "close-calls," myself, & it does give u a different outlook on life. Good for him, for living out his life in happiness!👍
I have tattoos and I will say this if you are thinking of getting one....make sure it's meaningful...don't just get a cool design or random something off the wall....think of something (an experience, a memory) something that when you look at the tattoo it brings you back to the moment...then dont get it yet but think about it for another month...because you might think later oh I wish I would of done this instead of that. 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Also do your research of the shops....read reviews, talk personally with the artist and see if they will be able to get what you are explaining...I've met a number of artists that are just complete a-holes and just want the money...but I've met so many more that take pride in what they are doing to create something special for you!
Don't listen to anyone telling you what to do with your tattoos.. If you want to get a tattoo that's just artistic and has no deep meaning that's your choice and do it!
