He was actually a very stubborn and short-tempered man!
This cello play expressed more deeply the 'Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ'.
One of Bach's most moving works, you can hear the despair in every note.
what can be more beautiful on earth than Bach's music...

It's about a weary and broken heart of a sinner turning to Jesus. This piece was written by the holy spirit. As Bach himself said: "I write down the notes, but it is God who makes the music"
Nothing apart from the bible gets me closer to God's heart than Bach's impossible music.

I’m not particularly religious but I feel this. The climax of this piece feels like judgement, not in a bad way necessarily, just being seen and weighed by the all mighty, like your soul is opening up before them without your say.

Heard him in Vienna yesterday. The music is breathtakingly beautiful.
Excellent choice of instrumentation for this wonderful, and always moving piece. The main melody on the cello sounds exquisite. Sadly the recording of the organ was not captured in its full depth. This improved when I listened to the piece using quality headphones. I wish I had been in the audience for this performance!
