    Bravo!
    Great advice on the paper filter in the French Press!
    For camping, and using a small French press, this is lightweight,
    and the very best coffee you can make.

    good one !

    good one! the paper filter also removes the layer oil which helps yield a clearer tasting cup.

    • @return2earthvideochannel
      @return2earthvideochannel Před 3 měsíci

      It's the OIL that gives you the flavour dummy!

    • @return2earthvideochannel
      @return2earthvideochannel Před 3 měsíci +1

      Unfortunately you ALSO get a much weaker cup! I could see from this process the finished brew looked like flavoured water! Move on, nothing to see - or hear - here.

    Generally i stay away from paper its the reason I use a french press. I feel paper filters take out some of the oils (flavor) from the coffee. I will do this blind and see if im correct. Cheers my friend.

    • @return2earthvideochannel
      @return2earthvideochannel Před 3 měsíci

      Yes correct. We should leave the oils in, they provide flavour and health benefits!

      And cholesterol.

    • @return2earthvideochannel
      @return2earthvideochannel Před 3 měsíci

      @@mrwes100 Coffee doesn't contain 'cholesterol'. This silly myth persists among consumers who don't know how their own body works. Many foods and beverages contain chemicals the body converts in the liver to manufacture cholesterol. The body self-regulates and only makes the amount of cholesterol it needs. A very small number of peeps have unusually high levels of LDL-cholesterol which MAY be a long term problem that will vary with each person. It isn't the cholesterol however that is the problem - it's the increase in LDL (Low Density Lipo-proteins), and when these tiny particles are oxidised they can get trapped in artery walls and cause atherosclerosis / hardening of the arteries. Do the research. Normally a change of diet and lifestyle can solve this.
      Cholesterol is present in virtually every cell in your body and without it you wouldn't survive! And did you know the brain contains more cholesterol (even yours) than any other organ in the body! And because it is so important for your survival, your brain makes its own cholesterol - how cool is that!

    A French press has advantages, one of which is the complete simplicity. There is a little sludge in the bottom of the cup, but that's ok.

    • @return2earthvideochannel
      @return2earthvideochannel Před 3 měsíci

      It's not sludge, it's SEDIMENT.

    • @nooobieeerh
      @nooobieeerh Před 22 dny

      @@return2earthvideochannel coffee is an organic material... hence sludge is the correct term.

    What if instead of putting the paper on the plunger, you use french press like normal, but pour the french press out over a v60 with paper in it?

    • @DaddyMakesCoffee
      @DaddyMakesCoffee Před 4 měsíci +4

      Can be but losing temp ın that case is the con.

      Lol I've been doing this. I used to only use a French press but got tired of the grittness. Once I move and have more room I'll probably buy a coffee maker

    Waste of my time! 1) The paper filter has creases in it, meaning if he had poured ALL THE LIQUOR into the cup, there would be grounds and sediment that had escaped around the paper folds. 2) This is PASSIVE extraction, meaning the majority of oils and antioxidants remain in the jug. 3) From the light colour, we can see this brew is far too weak. Move on, absolutely nothing to see - or hear - here.

    Way to much snobbery and geeky bs when it comes to the "perfect" cup of coffee. Of course there is bad coffee out there but to get it right is not rocket science.

    Coffee for geeks, nerds, and lab rats. People who have too much time and money on their hands. People who think that having all that expensive unnecessary paraphernalia somehow makes them special. An authority, a guru, a feckless effete intellectual snob. Spare us all such drivel..

      I just love the scene in No country for old men where the old retired cop is heating up week old coffee 😊
