I bought the same mower a month ago and have used it weekly. I can't even see the clippings once I'm done with it and I have St. Augustine grass. I live in TX. No complaints out of me.
Same exact story here except I bag the clippings and I have the 21" which is very light. The charger has two ports for the two 4Ah batteries. Lawn looks really good.
Bought this for my large backyard cut. Excellent mower all around for cutting larger areas. Thanks for the video.
I feel like I am getting a lot more mowing done in less time with the 25" cut.
I bought the same mower. I absolutely love it. And I always bag my lawn.
When Andrew talked about the cut not being great, was he talking about large clippings or how the lawn looked. I’m also interested in bagging
Thanks again for all you effort into making these video's.. I really like the wider cut feature on the Greenwork's for sure but during your test, you only showed the mower using the the mulch feature stating that the clippings were too large. Definitely agree that could be problematic as far as lawn appearance using the mulch feature without the bag. Since I would be mostly using the bagging feature, in your opinion is the Greenwork's comparable to the Ego as far as cut quality??
if you care about cut quality the Greenworks is not for you - if you want speed then maybe
As always thanks for the enthusiasm and review! I had my heart set on the select cut and saw 25" and it piqued my interest. But looks like EGO is still top dawg! Thanks Andrew!
Hi, as your vid was about time saving, was hard to tell time diff as was sped up? What % difference please?
Bought one last year and have put it to plenty use. Hands down my best equipment purchase ever! (60v trimmer not so much)
I have the Greenworks 21in that you used in the head to head and it clearly shows that it's a cleaner cut.
As always, great video and thanks for the real-world testing! While I haven't physically touched the Greenworks mower, seeing you assemble and shows the controls here, it doesn't look nearly as heavy-duty as the EGO (which I personally own and love). EGO also has incredible battery technologies, which I'd be surprised if Greenworks marches also.
@@dsmdriver2588 in the modern age, people think plastic is better than steel, when it comes to mowers lol. Plastic is lighter, but since this is more of a pro\commercial model, steel will last the test of time. Just picked one up for 419.99 from Greenworks site, 4 year warranty and free shipping. It can now go with my Ego blower and trimmer lol.
Man Love those dual blades... great idea.
I used to use a Toro mower with dual blades in the same type of setup - Fast but nasty cut
They've ungraded this 25" mower. It now comes with 80v batteries. Also, the reason you get an uneven cut is you don't overlap at all. Retake Mowing 101.
Good information. Just bought the 25in mower from Home Depot. Will give it a try and if I don't like it I will return it. Simple as that.
Might have changed since this specific year but you mentioned the dual battery thing being an inconvenience since there's one charger. The charger should have two slots though, charges both at the same time pretty fast.
Imho the short duel blades don't generate enough tip speed and updraft for smooth clean cutting and or mulching.
I had a corded version (Sunbeam 1957-ish) It was a beast if you needed to knock down some thick overgrowth and not worried about appearance.
Own both the EGO at home and this Greenworks at my trailer. Love both. Dont have an issue with either.
What if you have the double blades on the GW? Other question, what if you have a Honda engine on this wide deck?🤔
i owned the select cut and returned it for the 25 inch greenworks, im glad i did, while i loved the ego, the greenworks is more maneuverable and faster as well
@@Kitearmy Hello, 1st time home owner here and I'm in a market for an electric mower. I like to bag so I really don't mind how small the clippings are. I am worried about time usage. I have a double lot. I am debating this greenworks vs the double battery ego. Any thoughts?
@@olymsailor83 Don't do the double EGO or this mower - My favorite is the Select cut, best cutting and great run time. I have a review of the mower on channel
@@Kitearmy Thank you for the fast reply. After reading up on it and many reviews, I will go for the select cut. 👍
The reason I got this is for steep slopes and hills. Slopes that make a narrow mower crab terribly. This mower is surprisingly good on slopes and I think it would be surprising how steep it can go.
they dont seem to sell it? cant find it.
Cool to learn from other companies that is helpful for improvement for others.
Hey Andrew still can’t wait to see your fun video about the ZeroTurn from Ego next summer. By the way. Did you know about the robotic mower that they are working on? Super fun and can wait to see that as well.
Cheers my friend from Wisconsin!!
Hey mate - I have heard rumors of the robotic mower - so far not a fan but maybe my opinion will change. Now the zero turn - That's my jam. If I get one, I'm going to ride it to work.
Kite Army totally with you too that not being fun of the robotic mower.
Cheers my friend Andrew from here Wisconsin!!
I ordered one and am waiting for it arrive. They have a 20% everything sale going on their website. I also wasn't charged any sales tax. Another review had it tied for first in cut quality. We'll see how it goes.
When you say it has low cut quality, do you mean lawn doesn’t look great or clippings are too big? If i want to bag anyway, I’m not too concerned about the larger clippings
What is the actual blade to blade tip measurement, or even the actual cut width? Thanks
This is the older version. Mine has headlights and came with two 4AH 60V batteries and a 6AH double charger. And an set of high lift blades. The charger will fully charge two dead 5AH batteries in about a half hour. Also the one in your video doesn't have a Turbo button!
@@josephfogus6735 I have no idea since I never cut a lawn with the older model. I only have the newest one.
I'm surprised you didn't talk much about the time saving factor with the 25'' deck and the fact that it's faster. A lot of people (like one of my neighbors) don't care so much about the size of their clippings but do care about getting their lawn mowed quickly. Very cool speed test! You're the Best!
@@Kitearmy I could care less about cut quality. Less time mowing is everything.
Had to post an update. I recently bought this mower 3 days ago. My yard looks fantastic! I push mow roughly an acre and it got the job done about 10 minutes sooner than the 21 inch I traded from. The duel battery made it through to the end with a little to spare.
Put the bag on.. Will those clippings disappear? How well does it cut on a thick lawn?
I got rid of my EGO after trying the high lift blade with no change to the quality of cut. EGO knows they had a problem with the older design when they introduced the dual blade set up. I went back to a good old gas Honda Self Propelled mower. I had one before for 20 years and gave it to my son in law and he's still using it.
Steve Roehl
Honda gas mowers are by far the absolute best lawn machines developed for the avg lawn use.
@@dr.crentist3155 I like Honda too - No question that the older EGO mowers do not compare to the select cut.
I had this mower and the 2 fully charged batteries wouldn’t last 20 minutes on dry grass with only 1 weeks growth. I was going to get 2 more batteries but they are over $200 each so I returned it and spent $300 on a gas self-propelled mower and haven’t had any problems with it
Any idea where I can find the blade washers. My blade came off while mowing.😱So far, no luck.
So does it mean that with counter rotating blades you have to buy special blades for this mower?
@@Kitearmy doesn't show if they are flat quite the opposite it appears with the sharpened edge is moving away from the grass
So how does the warranty work? What if it breaks down and needs warranty work? Do you have to ship it back to them or take it to a local mower shop for service? I’m considering buying one but I don’t want the warranty process to be a complete pain in the neck!
Why did you not use the bagger? Greenworks now has a duel charging station and two batteries give longer run time. The Ego battery had reduced run time after one season and could not mow the whole lawn.
Okay - EGO has a new mower that blows everything out of the water - dual blade Select Cut XP. I can't go back in time and include the upgrades to the Greenworks and the EGO. At the making of the video this was the equipment
Ego needs to make a smaller lighter version for Europe with a 14 ‘ cutting width it’s such a heavy mower compared to other cable models
Hi kite army I was wondering if I could make some suggestions. I’ve been wanting to buy a battery tiller, but there are so few reviews out there that are helpful, I was wondering if I could convince you to do some reviews on those. I’ve looking at the snapper 80 volt mini tiller.
Hey mate! I wast just imagining enjoying a cool beer at the beach - Looks like I'm going back to work!
I would like to see the bags used so vacuum power could be determined. I always use a bag.
It's OK, Andrew. I have all the EGO tools and the EGO lawnmower is next. I'm getting tired of playing with Honda carbs.
Stanny1 I’m just over gas and all the problems. I still have a gas snow blower but it’s gone this winter.
I still say ego needs a 30" duel blade duel battery mower. Also they need to update the z6 mower to 56" deck..
I see Green Works has updated this model with a new design and it now comes with two 5ah batteries! Wonder how the new one is? Can't decide on this or the Ego select cut xp.
I've had the same mower for over a year. It's biggest drawback is it's not pick up the oak leafs like my 21" Honda did, . I've tried lowering the mower and mowing with the Turbo speed and it still leave a lot of leaves behind. BTW, what is Kite Army? I was Armo Army :-)
I hope their battery system is better than the 60 V system I just bought mine it has (1) 54 V- 5.0 Ah battery and the best operating time I was able to get was 36 minuets, yes some of the grass was about 4-5" high, the mower never stalled once and 90% of the time I used the self propelled system at half speed, the data I found on the internet given by a third party using calculated Watt-hours says (sq ft mowed 27,701) stupid me this was probably under no load condition? What bothers me the most is it takes 2 hour to recharge this battery and took 8 hours of charging time to mow 15,792 sq feet. The Mower engineering is first class but I don't have another $200.00 to invest in the two battery system, another battery is $200.00 the charge to use battery system for me is a gigantic engineering flop. I tried calling Green Works yesterday and as instructed I was told they would call me when my turn showed up, I am still waiting the following day. No where on the box or in the manuals does it state any user time or sq ft coverage for one battery fully charged.
Lol crazy... 35 year ago I was mowing my parents yard with an actual A/C plug in mower and the thing lasted over a decade. 35 years ago!! I didnt mine just moving the cord around and actually hit it a few times lol. This battery mower idea is for-company profit bs 🤣. I'll stick to gas or electric.
Last week my dad wanted me to research battery leaf blowers so he can buy one $200 or less. After checking and discovering Worx brand only last 10 minutes I told him to just buy a plug in for $46 🤣.
Leave the battery fad to vehicles and r/c crap

Unless they can do something about the price of batteries, these mowers are going to be short-lived when the battery dies. It's a major expense to buy another one almost to the point where you can buy a whole new mower for what you pay for a battery you can pay for several years of gas for your mower that you already have.
What EGO model mower do you recommend, going to Home Depot to pick one up, I trust the brand's they carry. I know what Home Depot carries won't come and go, They only carry the BEST battery platforms.
Home depot is going to discontinue the EGO brand Lowe's will be picking them up
What about all the negative reviews that it CANNOT be pulled backwards without dragging the locked up wheels on the grass to do so? That is SUCH a buzz kill to a mower I was very excited to buy. I really have no need to upgrade from my gas 21” to the electric 21” ones but GreenWorks 25” had me excited. Not if that inability to reverse is true though
yeah - you have to give them a nudge push and then pull back - you get used to it. a bit annoying though. Make sure to check out EGO select cut
So how’s this compare to the 82v version?
Kite Army yes. Commercial line. There’s a few online outlets. Holds two 5ah batteries.
@@gmeister03 I have never tested the 82volt - I believe Greenworks is moving away from this line. Very dangerous to ship
I got ego new one with 7amps it’s joke the battery doesn’t hold long and charge are junk to :( and doesn’t have enough vacuum to lift the grass to cut :( either and leaves hi grass stripes :( and you have to cut really slow I have 16,000 sqf and taking 1.5 hours:( + trimming and blowing total 2 hours:(
REVIEW THE NEW RYOBI 40V 20"!!!!!!
@@Kitearmy not the one that came out for 2020. Still 40v 20" but new and improved design.
@@Henry_Jones Right - I think I'm done with mowers for this season - just squeezed this one in
"Crush your hand"???? how would that happen
Green works stuff always looks so cheap compared to Ego equipment.
Speaking of cheap, you should be able to pick up EGo brand stuff pretty cheap at Home Depot , they are dumping the brand entirely. Get a couple extra batteries while your at it, who knows how long EGo will be around now, if Home Depot their primary retailer lost confidence in the brand. Such a shame.
Earlier models that used steel tubing did look ugly the newer models use extruded aluminum and are very easy to assemble in less than 10 minuets (two bolts and nuts only) their quality and usability with a steel deck is excellent they even have color matched controls so it is very easy to see and use with either left or right hand. The battery system gives a very short use time and almost 4 times as long to recharge? Maybe I have a bad battery, but I don't think so?
The greenworks uses a steel deck compared to the plastic used on ego 😏
Wake up man that is not counter-rotating they are both rotating in the same direction
Awesome KA《☆》Nice honest review Brother :*: Greetings from⛾Florida🤳my friend🤓🗣🔊☮✌👍🏾
Not even close to the biggest deck of a push mower.
DO NOT BUY THESE MOWERS! Flimsy and break easily and GREENWORKS WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY. I hit a 3 inch ball of wood with the blade and the gear drive broke apart. Greenworks called it customer misuse and says I'm stuck with a $600 paperweight because they won't sell or give me the parts to fix it. Tried to be very polite but the customer service guy just turned on me when he realized he was told he couldn't help me. What a horrible company.
Ok, I purchased the 60V mower last year and now I can't find the High Lift Blades for the 25" mower. Who is selling them? I need the following: RO201876-00 and RO201877-00 ... I've tried Greenworks, Home Depot and Amazon = no luck finding them.
It's really a shame that you cannot buy this mower. Not a single big box store, lawn equipment store, tractor/farm supply store or Amazon sell this thing. But because of the negatives you pointed out like the self propulsion feature and cut quality and lame batteries knocked it off my list.
Your grass looks terrible. Fertilize it dude.
His grass is just fine. Fertilizer is a waste of money and bad for the environment (then again so are lawns in general).
Bad Drivers of Columbus, Georgia
.....rediculous.
I bet you drive a car instead of walking everywhere...your screen name even implies it. Do you pick and choose what to take an environmental stand on?
@@dr.crentist3155 Unlike having a lawn driving is actually useful and a lot more necessary. If it was feasible to bike for all my needs then I would do so. And it doesn't have to be all or nothing, but lawns are incredibly wasteful when managed the way many people do - watering, fertilizing, using pesticides, and mowing.
Bad Drivers of Columbus, Georgia
I find it odd when people tell other people what they deem "useful and necessary"...or "essential"
You find driving useful and necessary. Other people find playing on the lawn with their kids and family useful and necessary.
How could th 25" cut faster when it only finished 6 rows in lessor same time as the other mower? The other mower went 7 rows.
This guy's review videos are always full of errors and misinformation. I would not trust anything he says if I were you. Will be avoiding his videos from now on.
I use this as my only mower in my all electric lawn business. Small lawns at beach houses. I started a lawn vlog channel because of it. My lawns are never left to get tall, so it works like a champ for me.
That is awesome!
I've been wanting to start an all electric lawn business has it been pretty good for you so far? Any tips? Im in south Florida
