Provinces in the Philippines create their own Festival because of a major event (catastrophe) then after surpassing the crisis, we feast for that. And because we are greatful community, we practice to remember the major crisis we survived by feasting annually on the same time or month of the crisis.
Cebuano here. Sinulog Festival is beatiful here but I bet other Festivals in the Philippines are must watch too. Also Sinulog dance is very expensive to join, you can spend for atleast a million of peso for just one dance. 😉🇵🇭
Festival is a devotion so its sacred so its basically about religion but not literally.

There are so many fiestas in the Philippines and they do these to honor each patron saints of every specific towns.
Hence, whenever I go to my mom's hometown in eastern samar, I often make it a point to watch out for the days of my stay to be matched to the feast of the town's saint. Even the church mass is attended by at least 50 plus bishops and priests and often times the mass would last at least 5hrs instead of the normal 1 hour mass.
The parade is the most cool thing to see. The dancing crowd of performers are well suited with a colorful sets of costumes and has different styles and color for each batch of people. You can even see drum beaters and majorettes swinging their batons around with cool skills. The parade starts very early in the morning, before 6am. A church mass would soon follow after the parade is over. And to be followed with lunch buffet. Each family has its own set of guests in their homes to feed as they too celebrates their patron saints. You can now hear the loud karaoke belters outside, and see a few tables of mostly males with their bahalina or tuba wine toasting and talking loudly in the streets.
Its definitely a cool thing to experience so visit one of the major fiesta the next time you do come in the Philippines.😄

I had the opportunity to attend the panagbenga festival in baguio city couple of years back and its really crowded where people are dancing in the street. February is a very good weather where you cannot feel the heat of the sun directly on your skin and because of that i got sun burn because i did not realize that im spending from sunrise to sunset dancing and partying in the street of baguio. Peñafrancia festival(the mother festival of bicol region), daragang magayon festival(means beautiful lady)are one of the best festival you need to attend to in the country. If you have mardi gras in brazil.. we have so much festivals in the philippines that you can choose from.

Fernando and Vanessa, you got to experience Kalibo Ati-Atihan on 3rd weekend of January. It’s the original and oldest festival which began long time before Spanish came to Philippines. It’s the mother of all festival. It’s not as commercialized as Dinagyan or Sinulog where it was spun of from, notice they are all in January. Ati-Atihan is where you are welcome to join and dance “sad-sad” in the street to any group you like. You dance with the drum beat and yell “Hala Bira!”, which literally means “dispense all mean”. By the way, Ati-Atihan means “to become Ati” who is the original native of Panay Island (where Boracay is). You will get swipe with black soot on your face and body when you dance in the street, that’s how Ati-Ati-Atihan festival.

In Bohol we have Sandugo it's similar to Sinulong. It's really fun to watch and they sell those like feather headbands there too! My school actually participated it was really fun to watch! When things get better you could come watch it.
Also on independence day in Carmen, Bohol it's epic. You should see it some time. And also during fiesta here in Carmen, Bohol is awesome you should really see it! The night events are worth seeing.

Hi Happy Reactions! I'm one of your avid fans and I love each and every one of your videos. The both of you are my happy pills and whenever I watch your videos, my sisters screams "OY GUSTO RIN NAMING MANOOD!" which is I found very cute. I'm from Marinduque, Philippines and I just want to inform you that Moriones isn't a festival. It's a sacred Lenten Rites. It's the reason why Marinduque is called The Lenten Mecca of the South. A fun fact about it is that Marinduque is the geodetic center of the Philippine Archipelago which is why it is called The Heart of the Philippines. When this pandemic is over, I can gladly tour you around Marinduque 😊 Stay safe and God Bless Always! 💖

Its real the philippines indeed the land of festivals either a religious or a cultural they are all of filipino inguinuities in their preparations the festivals varries in their presentations from the native custumes and weapons to the articulateness of dances and songs narrated in the streets all over the cities or towns the atiatihan festival in kalibo is the best example of how the filipinos are agog in their fiestas as the aklanon shows the showcase of its rich culture and traditions
