+Ivan Denisovich Shukhov It doesn't matter if He cannot act as well as Wingreen did. TM's dialouge sounded bored somehow uninterested and was a stupid decision to redub the original voice. Now be honest with me Man if You didn't know which one is which You would have been preferred the original voice. Also in what way is He badass? I don't know much about him that's why I'm 'Askin (Bleach reference anyone? No? Ok...)
Raul Mejia the thing is though that he first debuted as palpatine in ROTJ and has been playing him ever since not a bad thing because his portrayal in episode 6 is god damn perfect and i dont care who does or doesnt agree
Ó Braonáin No, it's commonly accepted by most fans with common sense, the blind nostalgia junkies like yourself find McDiarmid's part to be inferior for some reason...
Zap224 No, it's more likely some fans fail to understand the concept that less is sometimes more or the term 'in moderation'. If something or someone is 'evil' or 'good', he must be perceived to be as evil or as good as possible. There is no such thing as subtlety in a youngsters vocabulary. They don't understand what it is as it's not Black or White and it's marketed towards the simple-minded.
That's why I personally prefer the original emperor over the change. I think it's better that he looks weird, it gives off a more ominous and creepy vibe.
Brandon Jinjiyoshi Tilley He gives off a creepy vibe, and if _ESB_ was a stand alone film, it would work perfectly. However, that’s not the case. _ESB_ is in a huge series of movies in which continuity is everything. They can’t just have a person change their look and then go back to normal.
The only part I don’t like is the dialogue. It completely contradicts the opening crawl. I still prefer the original version. People would be less angry about the changes if the original versions were readily available.
I was just thinking the same thing. this guy raises maybe 1 or 2 solid points per video. the rest are all just bitching because it is... "different" also anyone who considers themselves enough of a fan to make a video like this, should know that storm troopers are not clones...
***** I think it would've worked better if they put McDiarmid in but with his hood hiding his face. That way the signature voice would be kept but the mystery would remain.
+Thickerspartan That being said moderm movie standards are at an all time low. And I have to completely disagree with your point that the old movies had no emotion.
+Jonathan Dahlberg I couldn't agree more. Though, I gotta say, the whole romance thing on Episode 2 was so damn awful I thought I was watching a mexican soap opera.
Like he said in the movie it just seems disrespectful to the actors who played them. That was the only star wars movie they were ever in. Ian McDiarmid was in 4 other films and he's famous because of them. Why couldn't let those actors have their role that they worked on? It honestly makes no real difference
4reptar20 Because it makes sense to change him. Imagain never have watched star wars, watching the first 3 films seeing Ian slowly reviel himself as the sith lord then watching the 5th film to see a random guy who looks or sounds nothing like Ian only to then swap back to Ian for the final film. It makes sense to change him and makes it a better overall experience.
+SirJedi Consular Well that too. Most of the clones did. Just the small portion of them left "the original men of the 501st" were finally wiped out with the Death Star.
+TheChornick - Actually, it was confirmed in the Star Wars Rebels series that most if not all the clones from the Clone Wars Era were dismissed from the Imperial Army for being "outdated" and "obsolete." With the wiki confirming that almost all remaining clones in the Imperial Army were dismissed from it four years prior to the Battle of Yavin. I could be wrong though, seeing as the star wars wiki is full of information rendered useless because of the Extended Universe being considered non-cannon.
+TheChornick This video was made before the Expanded Universe got retconned in 2014, in which all of the Stormtroopers were still clones but cloned from many different templates after the Kamino rebellion. As of the 2014 retcon (which erased ALL starwars media except for the the 6 main films and the Clone Wars film/animated series that came out before April 25, 2014 from the canon. Though all media coming after April 25, 2014 is still considered canon) , all Stormtroopers are composed of enlisted/conscripted Imperial citizens as the Empire shifted their military focus from quality to quantity to meet Palpatine's demands for galactic domination.
+Metalks He seems to have forgotten that the while the Emporer was the pure evil guy in the prequels like he talks about, he was also that way in Return of the Jedi
+Metalks Literally everything in this guy's videos is just nitpicky nostalgia-fueled whining. Complaining that the emperor is "too evil"? seriously? He's THE FUCKING EMPEROR, DARTH FUCKING SIDIOUS.
The only time I liked the Boba voice change is when he says "he's no good to me dead." It sounds a lot more iconic, and sounds like hes actually trying to threaten Vader.
Gavin Hall The original line left me thinking he was saying, “He was no good to me, *Dad*” when I was young. The change actually helped me, if in a small way.
No no no in the prequels he used anakin Manipulating him using as puppet and made him destroy the Jedi order. In the original trilogy Palatine used Darth Vader as puppet and a tool of destruction Palatine made him kill the Jedi that they thought would be at the area so the Jedi order would never rebuild itself and remained destroyed SEE TOTALLY A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO U IDIDWAT
i agree with you on most parts except the emperor one, he looks 1.000.000 times better in the 2004 re-release, and what the fuck man??? you can't trash someone for making the villain too evil
+mroriona2 You should use commas instead of points in those kinds of numbers. 1.000.000 is the same as 1.0, and if you times something by 1, it's 1 :P Dont mean to grammar nazi but its an important but subtle mistake to make.
Jedi S.H Ya I don't think they 'over vilified' him in the prequels. He was the dark lord of the Sith, he was making Death Stars to destroy planets. we know he had somehow destroyed the Jedi, he was a bad dude. and the original image of the emperor looked like some kind of leper.
Jedi S.H Just what I was thinking. There are a number of changes I don't agree with but Lucas got that one right. He looks more menacing and less goofy compared to the original.
Jedi S.H Literally the only major change I can agree with is retroactively inserting Ian McDiarmid into the scene. It just helps maintain continuity. Some would argue I'm a hypocrite for thinking that inserting Hayden Christiansen over Sebastian Shaw is a bad thing, but I'm okay with Ian being put into the hologram scene. Well, Ian IS the Emperor when he's fully revealed in VI, so that's perfect continuity. The argument that Hayden should be their instead of Sebastian because that's what Anakin looked like before he was evil is invalidated by the fact that Vader became good again right before he died.
It wasn't the prequels that made the Emperor "so evil", it was in ROTJ we learned what an evil mofo he is. The Emperor wasn't a regular Roman or Chinese Emperor. He was a SITH LORD reigning a quasi SITH EMPIRE who shoots damn lightning out of his hand. That scene also perfectly fits into continuity (to ROTJ). The 1980 conversation doesn't make sense with the text in the beginning of Empire Strikes Back (...Vader obsessed with finding Skywalker....) and storywise when you watch ROTJ. I don't like the prequels either but sometimes u should take off your prequel bashing spectacles. The change has nothing to do with the prequels.
Man. This channel has changed a lot. You went from constantly bashing on the prequels, to being understanding of why people like them and saying that they're just not for you. You're a much more hopeful and optimistic star wars channel now and I love it.
What the fuck dude? Sidius' scenes was really better. "They just made him so god damn evil." Really? Perhaps he's evil because he's A SITH LORD and a master of the dark side? What's so wrong with an evil character BEING FUCKING EVIL? "We get it, the emperor is a bad guy" Funny, you rant endlessly about how the changes suck but on this one you merely say "Unnecessarily so. We get it, the emperor is a bad guy" Yeah, that sounds like gratuitous bitching.
he blamed the prequels for making him evil, completely ignoring how evil The Emperor was during Return of the Jedi. Good god how does he think the Emperor took over the Republic and created an oppressive regime, through kisses and love!?
I agree. The Emperor is as close to an embodiment of the dark side as what has ever existed. Of course he's fucking evil. A more evil being has never existed.
Yeah I know... I'm not going to continue watching his videos. He is talking like butthurt kid, who complains about EVERYTHING. "they made him too evil", what about his f*ckin apprentice who is dressed in all black robotic suit with a black cape, has a dark voice, and wields a red lightsaber?? x(
Yeah, I'm a sucker for a good deep, metal-y voice like the emperor's. And I don't mind the visual enhancements, the lumpy eye doesn't really bespeak power, you know?
I think that is something called a mandala effect. Because a lot of people seem to be under the illusion that every single storm trooper was a clone from the clone wars. But in both the legends version and the Canon version of Star Wars that is not entirely the case I’m pretty sure in the canon version all clones were dismissed from imperial duties. Whereas in the legends version some clone stayed on but after the Kaminoian cloning facility turned against the empire and bred soldiers to fight them the emperor cut the cloning program entirely because it was too expensive. The narrator even says that the 50 first slowly began to become more and more diverse and adding a “we never really got used to the new guys“ At the end
That was the original interpretation of the prequels, before the retconning. In case you need to know: Retcon - ret*con - verb - revise retrospectively, typically by introducing a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events.
The stormtroopers started as clones but ended up getting replaced and by the time of original trilogy are just recruits! I can't believe you didn't know this!
Johnny Doe Yes.:-) That's why I'm talking to Hello Greedo. Because in the video he said that the stormtroopers need the voice just as much as Fett. which is incorrect.
the clones were mostly retired after order 66 (which was programmed into them, that's what made them kill their Jedi friends). The Empire opposed to the use of clones due to the fact that they needed to be representative of a people's army, and clones didn't have the qualities they looked for. They also destroyed Kamino by the end of the Clone Wars. Star Wars Rebels also tell a lot about what happened after episode 3
***** For the record (and this is coming from someone who does not like the prequels much at all), the face they used in the prequels was the same actor as in RotJ. While the mystery of it all disappears with the new one, if they hadn't changed the dialogue, it would've made some sense. Still wouldn't be a welcome change in my book, but it would at least make sense... Unlike Hayden Christensen in Return of the Jedi... that was bad...
Mansen the academy of carida was a training zone for normal people to become stormtrooper and officers (if not mistaken) even han solo was there to be an imperial...but yeah on the first years of the empire most of them were clones, but when the rebellion start most of them were normal people. Not sure if im right but the only "real clones" were the stormtropers from the vader's fist (can't remember the exact name).
A fact that a lot of peoples seems to forget, that between the III and IV episodes Clonetroopers have just dyed out and where decomitioned, and the New Empire started to make Troops levy adn enrollements on all of the Planetes governed by it.
***** In the Rebels TV show (which is canon) there is an episode that takes place at the imperial military academy where troopers are trained. Rebels takes place 5 years before A New Hope, so it can be assumed they stopped using clones within a few years after Sith ended.
No, I'm not, but the guys at Disney are trying to fix as much of the mess that Lucas made as possible. They used the fact that Luke mentions the academy in A New Hope as showing that there was a training facility. It works. I like the idea that the clone process was shut down. They were really only necessary for Palpatine's plans. After Order 66, there was no need to waste a significant part of the Empire's budget on paying the Kamino folks to keep pumping out troops with accelerated growth rates for a war that was all but over. The conflict was ground down until the rebel cause really gets rolling in the time of Rebels. So, I like that Disney is trying to install things that tidy up some of the things that were messy under George's ownership.
Olivella0513 Bleh, I make whatever I want to be canon canon. As far as I'm concerned the prequels never happened and Dash Rendar is the greatest. Star Wars is dead anyway.
Actually, if you'd do a little research, you'd find out that Boba was created to be genetically identical to Jango, which would lead them both to sound like each other.
Alec Mackenzie No, I mean what I said. Jango personally requested that Boba be made EXACTLY like him in every way. The Kaminoans took a DNA sample from Jango and essentially used it to make another Jango. [under the name Boba, of course.] This would mean that Boba would look and sound exactly like his father once he reached that age.
Rampant Redneck I get what you're saying in that Boba is identical to Jango in DNA terms and that Jango wanted an identical copy. Voice doesn't form in the same way eyes etc form though. The voice is affected throughout development and life by environmental factors, hormones and other factors. Hormone levels are also affected by environment factors so it can't even be said that they would be the same even if hormone were the same in Boba's tank as Jango's mother's womb (and I don't know how they would figure that out). Also he doesn't even have the same voice as Jango in Attack of the Clones! It's Daniel Logan's voice, not some computer generated mock up of what Temuera Morrison would sound like when he was a kid!
I feel the reason they changed the Emperor's appearance is because of continuity. He looks totally different in Episode 6 than in Episode 5. They actually hadn't chose who they wanted to play the emperor until Episode 6.
All the clones looked and sounded the same. By the time of these movies, all the storm troopers were no longer clones, and they recruited many different people. You just like to complain, holy shit. At least know what you are talking about. Lucas said Han did not shoot first, so he didn't, it's his story.
***** Stop right there. There's the key word every prequel hater uses, "masterpiece". Prequel haters take the franchise for granted and are the Call of Duty fan-kids of the film world.
***** it makes sense on why he changed it. Granted that the change wouldn't be necessary if the idea of clones never came to be. But the change makes sense. Jangos DNA was used to create the Clone army, and in return the Kaminoans would give him a son. Since they are biologically similar, it makes sense to give them the same voice. Like he said, "Continuity".
Korey Jordan Han DID shoot first ORIGINALLY. Lucas changed it because he wanted Star Wars to appeal to the "kiddies" when he released those shitty prequels. Why did he want to appeal to kiddies? To make MONEY. Lucas sold out. Bottom line.
Not necessarily real, but realistic. The prequels were terrible movies. Good CGI, but terrible writing, plot and characters. No, scratch that, not terrible, lightyears beyond terrible.
That's not overreacting. 2 weeks ago I thought - Hey I haven't watched Episode 3 in a long time. Let's watch it again - maybe I will change my mind an find out it isn't so bad after all. 30 minutes later I turned my TV off bc once again I was shocked how bad this film is.
Like I said, overreacting. You're another annoying prequel hater, don't like them, don't watch them. You're not the voice for all SW fans, and just because you didn't have a good viewing experience with them doesn't mean you get to take your disappointment on others who do. You purist elitist annoy the hell out of me.
Deion Mitchell No, it's adequate reacting. And you're right, I'm not the voice of all Star Wars fans and everyone has their own opinion. If you like the prequels Im completly fine with that. But it's a fact that the large majority of star wars fans are greatly dissapointed by the prequels. Which is completly reasonable. Everybody who looks forward to something that dissapoints later would be frustrated. I just want to watch good Star Wars movies, because I love the SW-universe. Thank god Episode 7 was awesome. And btw I dont hate the prequels bc I'm a "purist elitist" who hates everything that is new. As I said, I love Episode 7. I just think that the prequels are terribly bad written and directed movies.
And that's great for you, and the ref who feel the same as you dude. But it's a fact too that the ones who conplain do so in such an incredibly immature and over reactive way ruin SW for others who actually like the prequels, seen those first, and want to get into the fandom. If not for the prequels, guarenteed I wouldn't care much for SW. I don't think they're as bad as people make them out to be, which many have agreed. The dialogue mostly from Hayden can be stale at times I admit, but that is George Lucas's fault. He had no idea what dialogue he was writing, and Hayden had to suffer for it
+TheGame8925 Star wars 7 in my opinion wasn't that good it felt like it was to much like the original movie I get disney likes the original trilogy the best but put some prequel content in some stuff
+Halo is king Ps4 is 3h1t Are you serious? Just because you dislike it doesn't mean it can be ignored and you can make up whatever you want to. The prequels are CANON, which means they are 100% as part of the story as the original trilogy. Such fools lol
Actually, the Storm Troopers aren't clones, only the 501st legion remains and that's because they was always Anakin/Vader's task force so to speak. All storm troopers are recruits and less effective than the clones.
RikkyCZ I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Kamino rebelling making their own clones and after that they couldn't produce more clones for the empire so they began recruiting with only small legions of clones remaining
RikkyCZ I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not but if you know anything about Star Wars you would probably know this...What Synister Mayhem said is right.
Magicgameyup Official This video came out five years ago and people like you are bitching over his opinions, the only bitches here are you and everyone else that are still giving HelloGreedo hell for liking and disliking certain things.
There are just too many extremes. HelloGreedo isn't compromising on any change no matter what it was (including changing the Emperor's original actor for Empire, even though the Prequels actor is the same in Return of the Jedi). Meanwhile, a lot of comments are going too far in the other direction, saying everything new is perfect and the Prequels are amazing. There is just way too much hate going around.
That_Pon3_Ruler Saying that making the villain look more menacing and different, despite it making a lot more sense continuity-wise, is a bad thing is just blind fanboyism.
Deroni76 Not really. I'm 18, someone who grew up with the prequels, and I don't like any of the special edition changes. It's about preserving the movies in their original format when they were shown in the theater.
That_Pon3_Ruler No, it's not. These movies aren't to be treated like some relics from the past. They are meant to tie in with the prequels, which is what the 2004 versions did.
Deroni76 Yes, they are relics. They are classic movies. You don't see Steven Spielberg going back to Jaws adding in CGI sharks and shit. You don't see James Cameron adding CGI aliens to Aliens. The original Star Wars movies need to stand alone, as classic movies, not raped abominations filled with crappy CGI.
I just like how he dances around the fact that this change was to keep continuity based on the very next movie, and not the prequels, considering the original Emperor hologram looked nothing like him in Jedi. It's clear that this guy skirted around that just to have something else to bitch about.
***** I think the point he is making is that evil need not be underlined so much just like suspense becomes greater without any clear object. It's a more figural way of representation. Hollywood usually sucks at this since the masses in the States only care about "underlined" Good vs. Evil for cultural reasons (Christianity in America).
Michelle Lehto The thing is, while Palpatine is great, he's one-dimensional evil. The other actor shows an Emperor that looks like he might have good reasons of his own to lead an Empire.
In your 2023 stormtroopers are clones video you said to stop commenting on this "12 year old video", but I'm here commenting on this "12 year old video" in Oct 1, 2023. "I am altering the deal, pray I don't alter it any further".
For a guy who calls himself a "Star Wars fan" you don't seem very knowledgeable about the Star Wars mythos. A) Your comment "not one single mention of a midichlorian." is absolutely false. ROTJ made it 100% clear that the force is biological, hence why Vader's children were strong with the force. The prequels just gave it a name, big fucking deal. B) "We get it he is evil." Again ROTJ showed us this, Palpatine was clearly a dark lord before the prequels. C) did you just call Stormtroopers clones? Are you trying to insult the Stormtroopers? D) Seeing as Boba Fett is a fucking clone I would assume their voices be the same. If you are going to hate on the prequels, hate on them right.
You know, as bad as the prequels were, as bad as the edits to the original trilogy are... Watching this guy launch into entitled rant after melodramatic rant is worse. A billion times worse. I came here to see the changes, not listen to melodrama. These videos get a Jar Jar Binks out of 10.
Yarp. I'd agree. I appreciate HelloGreedo's efforts to put this footage together, and I don't even mind a little bit of analysis in regards to the motivation behind the changes, but he could've stayed more objective. By the time he got to the scene with The Emperor every verdict of his started to seem horribly biased. "We get it, The Emperor is a badguy" is a fairly poor argument against maintaining the continuity of the same actor. I don't think re-inserting a scene of Clive Revill dubbed over a human with superimposed chimpanzee eyes is gonna make much more sense when the character is played by the same actor in four other films of the franchise. I think it might be nice for those who feel sentimental value over the scene, but I don't think the current version in any way makes it worse. Even though it's fun to rant about his major blunders, not ALL decisions made by George Lucas need to be terrible.
agreed, so much nipicking and complaining about things that aren't even that big of a deal the emperor part is ridiculous, it's in there to keep the emperor looking the same as he did in the prequels and in return of the jedi, also in return of the jedi the notion of him simply being a ruler of an expansionist kingdom is also shattered because he looks and act evil the bobba fett one i agree with him, the original sounds more badass than morrison's performance and it's similar to jango's voice
***** I actually prefer the new Boba Fett voice to the old one. I think it makes him sound more bad-ass in the sense of a "a guy who keeps his cool." However, I can see where you would disagree with me, and I think that's fine.
Hat Man he didn’t mention once he wasn’t a Star Wars fan. He simply said that HelloGreedo was whining about a lot of things were in certain ways improved in the Special Edition such as Ian McDirmand as the Emperor, Boba Fett’s voice continuity (I definitely like Boba’s original voice more if he wasn’t a clone.) I’m not defending a majority of the Special Edition CGI and line changing crap as those degrade the film. I also agree that Disney should rerelease the unaltered theatrical versions of the trilogy for the reason of letting people watch how they originally looked. Luckily we have the Harmy’s Despecialized Editions.
No they didnt make the emperor "unnecesary evil" in the prequel. He was evil, read the expanded universe, read the novels. Darth sidious was a very particular sith lord. and thank god they changed the horrible looks of the emperor in that scene. looks like a muppet. You sir are a bit of a smartass. that particular scene was well changed. maybe other scenes no, but this was on particular improved a lot.
Forget the expanded universe, look at him in "Jedi." the way he taunts Luke, and dares him to kill him - or Vader - and thus join the Sith...and since when isn't he evil in "Empire?!" even in the original version he was Vader's Sith master! How is that not pure evil? sure all the other alterations were unnecessary, but your belief that the Emperor wasn't evil in the original version is just plain not factual.
Hi, I know this video is 10 years old but I was wondering if you remembered what music you used after the trivia intro when talking about Empire? The one linked in the description by CZcams isn't accurate.
To be fair, the guy who voiced Boba Fett originally only had a couple of lines. It's not like he played a major role and then they just cut every scene he made an appearance in.
What the hell is your problem with them changing the Hologram scene. If anything they were trying to make the Emperor more similar to his Episode VI appearance. But God forbid you move an ounce of dislike from the prequels to the original.
I love the George Lucas haters. Like seriously people? You wouldn't be having any of these conversations if it wasn't for him. The man is a genius and a pioneer in movie making. His contributions to cinema changed everything about entertainment, merchandising and our imaginations as a whole. Stop hating.
Invincible335 Me too, I have no hate toward the prequels either, I don't understand all the hate, but I will say that I'm not a Jar Jar Binks fan myself. Plus, I believe the mention of midi-chlorians explains why the Force cannot be easily used by those who are not Force-sensitive, even though the Force is an omnipresent force that surrounds, penetrates and binds everyone and everything.
Invincible335 I'd say the reason why the romance between Anakin and Padme are so focused on is to show what caused him to turn to the dark side. He was not seduced by the dark side for selfish reasons, as some people might have thought when Episode 4 was new, when Obi-Wan told Luke that Vader "murdered" Anakin... Anakin's seduction to the dark side stems from his fear of losing the women he cared about: his mother and Padme. Once he lost both of them, he had nothing left, no reason to be aligned in the dark side but no way to escape it, he became a slave to Palpatine and the dark side of the Force until Luke saved him in Episode 6.
No tristan is right there are lots of people who down right hate Lucas for the prequels and the special editions it's one thing to debate like we do here we may even feel strongly about our opinions but death threats and countless petitions trying to ban his future involvement are just Stupid
Omg is that The Album Leaf at 1:20?! The American Dollar!!?? It's so good! All audio and video in these videos you're making are excellent. Thank you for sharing these, keep the ball rolling :)
the reason the later stormtroopers had different voices was because they used different DNA. they only used Jango's DNA for the originals. But they gradually got replaced by different clones and a few normal people.
I don't like the prequels that much either but being obsessed with bashing it your whole life is just crazy hahahaha!!! Besides be thankful George Lucas even created this whole damn universe you are currently obsessing on.
Richard McAlpine what the fuck are you talking about? the entire story and Universe was put together BY HIM, YEARS IN ADVANCE, prequels or OT, they're all (except episode 2) FAR BETTER than most movies people pass off as cinima, most of them aren't even original stories anymore, because they can't write for shit, not to mention they probably planned the entire story out in 2 hours instead of years or even decades like GL did.
Zelly64 You are explaining exactly the prequels. "most of them arent even original stories, cant write for shit, planned the story in 2 hours" You saying that the prequels are better than most movies nowadays is fucking sad, and not true
Zelly64 Well what I'm talking about he didn't create star wars. look at the list of people in the credits, they don't get credit. Goerge Lucas didn't direct Empire Strikes Back the best movie in the saga and if you pay attention to the behind the scenes stuff some of the best things about star wars didn't come from Goerge Lucas at all, even the best part of the prequels (darth Maul and OBI-WAN vs. Darth Vadar) I'm pretty sure you can thank Steven Speilberg (not to mention the great performance of the actors) for the OBIWAN vs Darth Vadar fight in revenge of the sith. I will never believe that the prequels where developed at the same time as the OT. One the OT was a well written trilogy with perfectly executed arcs, the prequels didn't have character arcs a story arc and there is no real linking arc between the saga (other than someones name. Two in the special features for phantom menace Goerge Lucas is so happy that he finished the script in the middle of the project. He may have developed an treatment of an entire saga but it was not mapped out and especially not even close to the kind of mapping required, see A Song Of Ice and Fire. All in all Goerge Lucas did a lot for star wars but "the god or creator" that is a title he doesn't deserve and one I would never grant him.
The original Emperor just feels more chilling. More mysterious. His face is half concealed in the cowl and his eyes pierce through with an eerie intensity. The voice is careful yet dominating. As much as I love Mcdairmid, his depiction of the Emperor feels sluggish and uninterested, and the puffy makeup in full light takes away any suspense or mystery for the character when he is revealed in ROTJ.
What an ingenious way to fuck with your memories. Now, it all makes sense to me. When I saw clips of the 2004 versions on various news casts or internet blogs, I kept on saying, "Wow, I totally forgot about that. How did I forget about that?"
I think some are clones but most were decommissioned by the time the first Death Star was destroyed. The Empire found that it was no longer necessary to quickly mass produce their troops. Some of the retired clones, like Captain Rex from the Clone Wars TV series, even helped the early rebels. If you're someone who believes that the Expanded Universe needs to be considered canon again, you might also know that the 501st crushed a clone rebellion on Kamino and permanently ended their production.
Really? -to me it sounds like the actor is not even trying - the delivery sound forced and unnatural - especially in the last clip we hear - Jason Wingreen on the other hand is nothing short of epic, the timing, pace - he IS Boba Fett, also I hate you..
Yeah I disagree, Temuera sounded like he phoned his lines in and had to work in the constrains of what was filmed almost thirty years ago. They should've kept Wingreen, his delivery of the line "What if he doesn't survive, he's worth a lot to me." Sounded fucking badass. And when he gets told by Vader to not disintegrate anyone, he sounds like he's daring to be sarcastic to Vader, Temuera sounds like he's actually obeying a command. All in all. I think Jason fit it better, besides, even if it didn't, it's very disrespectful to the actor to cut him out of the movie like that forever. It's very rude to cut a lot of those actors out of the film and replace them with digital effects, especially since a lot of these actors are dead. Very disrespectful.
I don't get why people hate the prequels, well i know that the first one, was not the best, but the others...theyr'e not bad? If they werent there you wouldn't the whole story...
+3Logic Because they are offensive to the original story by trying to tie themselves to what made the originals so good. Now every time someone sees Darth Vader they can't help but think of how he was a whiny kid who murdered women and children and complained every second of the movie.
+3Logic do we have to know the whole story? which movies came first? lol and they are poorly made acting sucks , they aren't parallel with each other they actually contradict with the original trilogy. They lack the fun and "magic" the originals had. as Movies alone they are like below Average boring af movies but since they carry the Star Wars name there shit they fail there complete garbage and they make. Watch Red Letter Media, they give so much shit away its ridiculous
+Greezey Anakin being a whiny kid? Ha, good one. Well, unless you watch most of Attack of the Clones. But what about Mat Lucas and Matt Latner Anakin? Those were a lot more like Vader.
Is there some kind of in between edition? Because as a kid I remember my dad showing me the movies and the wampa scene wasn't there. But the new emperor was tehre
A few questions: 1.) Why do people not like the idea of Medichlorians? I enjoy this idea. It makes sense that something would genetic would have to be part of the force, or how would the importance of Luke's father being a former Jedi matter or Leia also being forced sensitive. 2.) Is the scene with the Wampa really that bad? I didn't notice the change; at all the first time. I then watched it again and realized a difference. However, I didn't find it as bad as Greedo found it, I thought either one wouldn't had made me feel any different towards this scene. 3.) Is it a bad thing that the added and made the Emperor more evil? To me who, had watched the Star wars sequels since birth and then watched the prequels, I found the presentation of the Emperor more to my liking in the prequels. 4.) Who shot first? I watched episode 4 many times on VHS and have never scene the copy on DVD. I thought Greedo shot first, but everyone tells me that Han did. Am I blind or are people fucking with me?
Midichlorians: It's like scientifically explaining why you laugh at something or showing someone the creature in a horror movie in the very beginning. It ruins the magic of the movie. Don't make it into science. If there is a scientific explanation to the force, why doesn't Han Solo or the Imperial leader that Vader choked believe in it. The force was so great because it was a sense of spirituality in star wars and it played into destiny. It was so mysterious it even had it's own music. Did we really even need an explanation? I am not going to bash you for liking it. It is your opinion, I am just explaining why everyone hates it. To quote a friend, "It was the answer you didn't want, to the question you didn't ask."
Okay, but it had to be genetic. Even when I was a 7 year old I thought to my self that it was related to the fact that Vader was Lukes father to why Luke, and Leia had the force. I just thought that episode 1 helped explained, how the jedi found new recruits quickly and without wasting time, with also giving the genetic feature a name that I already had in my head was the reason for the force. I understand your point though.
cooper biancur It ruins it because it goes completely against Obi Wan's description of what the force is in the scene where he gives Luke his lightsaber.
Great video. Liked the cute edit you did in the beginning and the voiceover synopsis before getting to changes. I know this is old and probably already said in the thousands of other comments and it won't get read unless someone is really interested in seeing the latest comments.
So it's easier to preserve continuity by changing the scenes in the original trilogy then to actually think about continuity while filming prequels? How does that work?
well it's impossible to preserve continuity 30-some years after the films were shot. some of the actors are ancient/dead, so they obviously cant keep them around to preserve continuity.
People are saltier about this video than HelloGreedo was when he made it lol I think a lot of the viewers forget that this was one of his first videos and he wasn't as calm and collected as he is now
I really love both voices. The new one sounds much more obedient and matches his calm persona, yet he is after all a ruthless and rogue bounty hunter to which his original voice takes the cake. But like I said both are awesome.
I'll just say, most of the changes are unnecessary, but most of them are fine like the boba fett voice and sidious scene, its just more work for them. I think most of the original trilogy fans are over reacting.
Wow, heard about Star Wars nerd ranting about this.. It never bother me much about this changes .. Maybe it because i was born in the 90s and watch the sequels as my introduction to Star Wars.. .. Hey it just a movie, it not a religion or my bread.. Just enjoy the ride ..
Watch from 6:20 as that is the main case for most of anyone whom prefers the originals to the enhanced. If you can't get the tiniest grasp as to why people "nerd rage" about it, then I'm sure you likely never will. As you said, you were born in the 90's and were introduced to the enhanced versions rather then the originals.
Ummm I kinda think the original emperor in the 5th movie was lacking something, he seemed less scary than Vader for me, which for me at least is just wrong.
Exactly. I don't think this guy knows what he's talking about. At the time, the Emperor was the most evil being in the galaxy. He should be portrayed as such, and was not in the original films.
I wouldn't say, he doesn't know what he is talking about, he clearly does, I think it's just easy to get wrapped up in calling every change they made a bad change.
People who say this is nitpicking don't understand that it is representative of larger issues. 1. It is a disservice to the people who worked on the films and are now gone from the credits. 2. From their inception, those changes resulted in the loss of the original film (as close as we can get to them). Sure, there is 4K77, but even that pales to what a proper preservation would've looked like. 3. Nitpicks add up, how much you're bothered or not by them is irrelevant, but they ARE there. And to many, they lessen the films, specially when they start changing with pacing and character, such as the Jabba scene in ANH. What I also don't understand is how people say these kinds of videos are responsible for the current state of Star Wars. Part of the blame is on Lucas himself. Furthermore, it seems a bit hypocritical, since what Disney defenders say are exactly what Special Edition apologists say: "It is like this now, suck it up". Sure, context matters, specially on who is making these changes, but the core of the argument, that of denying a cultural ownership of media and art, is the same.
Thank you. But it tells you how smart prequel fans are that all they focus on is a technicality of how not all Stormtroopers are clones. Like what are you talking about? We're talking about changes to the most iconic films of all time and they're focusing on useless lore
You know I'm really torn about the wampa, you raise an excellent point referencing Jaws, however I remember seeing it as a kid and feeling like they were hiding the wampa because they weren't capable of making it look decent at the time. Many of the changes made to the films were motivated by "we would of done this then but we didn't have the means" mentality but these short comings often led to innovative solutions. Often times it's better to leave things to the viewers imagination and leave some elements of mystery. The new wampa as you mentioned was not crappy CGI, and I personally thought it looked great and didn't really detract from the movie at all, it felt less like they were trying to hide their lack of ability but I guess at the cost of revealing the mystery of what this abominable snowman/yeti/wampa looked like.
I can't wait to see the ultimate edition of "The Empire Strikes Back", coming soon on DVD and Blu Ray. After Luke gets his hand cut off, before Vader's great and most famous reveal... we cut to a scene with a flying car driving underneath Cloud City. Suddenly Luke's hand with his lightsaber lands onto the passenger seat. "Yikes!", we hear the female driver (played by Lupita Nyong'o) utter, and throws away Luke's hand, but she keeps the lightsaber, "Now, this might come in hand some day." Then we go back to Luke and Vader, for the big reveal...
Just another humm-drumm youtuber who blindly hates the prequels and won't consider the viability of changes. These opinions are dime a dozen. Nothing special about this channel or this video, don't waste your time.
It has occurred to me that this critique (and my comment on your Part 3: Changes to Episode VI) have been worded far too harshly, my second comment in particular. To be clear, I don't mean to insult you personally. I'm certain that you are a very pleasant individual without any hint of sarcasm of hyperbole (I include this part because I genuinely respect you as a human being and as a Star Wars fan and because context and tone rarely translate flawlessly when put into text let alone as a CZcams comment). My issue with this video (and your subsequent video on changes to Episode VI) is that while you are quick to defend the original trilogy's original rendition(s) (and for that I commend you), you also swiftly dismiss the validity of Lucas' changes, seemingly, because they interfere with the continuity of the originals. However, don't misread this as me having the polar opposite opinion (being that all of Lucas' changes are positive ones). For example, my favorite changes to episode V is the replacement of the original Emperor Palpatine (Elaine Baker) and Boba Fett, both of which greatly improved the integrity of the series' continuity. However, Vader's "No. Noooooooo!" in Episode VI was over the top and did not need to be included. It not only shatters the critical suspense that Luke's torture builds but lessens the surprise of Vader's betrayal and subsequent redemption as Anakin Skywalker. I appologize to anybody I offended with my comments and I hope this has cleared things up. Have a great rest of the week!
All of the original Stormtroopers were clones... But during the time of the Original Trilogy they began enlisting people/cloning from different templates.
Michelle Lehto Do your research dude. They began cloning from other templates and enlisting. The Kaminoan Cloning facilities werent the only ones that existed.
DuNcAnDuDe no the clones were considered inferior to humans because they had to be age accelerated so they hardly used them it is true that they weren't all humans and they did have other cloning facilities but hardly any were clones the facilities were mainly used for cloning the emperor for his rebirth
Blaine Hoover Its hard to believe you guys are still trying to argue with me. Cloning became more advanced so when the new troopers were cloned they were cloned as full adults and didnt need to have age acceleration. They also got memories and lives imprinted in their minds so they thought they were normal people.
hearing the old boba fett voice for the first time, he sounds more badass
+Millad Bahrami Temura Morrison is a fucking badass, so...
+Millad Bahrami I like both, but yeah, he sounds way more badass
He does not... He sounds like a stupid pirate
+Millad Bahrami he sounds more like a mercenary/gangster in the original which is better for him
+Ivan Denisovich Shukhov
It doesn't matter if He cannot act as well as Wingreen did.
No? Ok...)
The original performance by the Emperor is utterly dull. Ian McDiarmid owned the part.
Raul Mejia Most people who grew up with the prequels share your opinion.
Only change I 100% agree with. Changing Anakin in Return was stupid though.
Raul Mejia the thing is though that he first debuted as palpatine in ROTJ and has been playing him ever since
not a bad thing because his portrayal in episode 6 is god damn perfect and i dont care who does or doesnt agree
They don't understand what it is as it's not Black or White and it's marketed towards the simple-minded.
i dont mind the emporer's changes he looked weird in the original
That's why I personally prefer the original emperor over the change. I think it's better that he looks weird, it gives off a more ominous and creepy vibe.
Brandon Jinjiyoshi Tilley it doesn’t though, he doesn’t look scary in any way, he looks like some man child dressing up in his moms basement
@@jinjiyoshi5548 yes
so it's bad that they made palpatine a lot more evil? instead of just being a bland character?
By this guy's interpretation? Yes, every change to the film is bad (except quality enhancements). Whatever, that's his nostalgia speaking.
Raul you're 100% right
Raul agreed

this greedo guy is just a classic hater, the only reason to watch his videos are to know what were changes, his opinion is just BS
Oh, c'mon, I dislike most of these changes like anyone else, but the emperor's change makes complete sense.
*****
He's an insanely important character and Ian McDiarmid plays him insanely well.
Agreed. This guy just complains about anything! "Ughhhh they made him too evil in the prequals. We get it, he's evil. But he's too evil wwaaaaahhhhh".
I was just thinking the same thing.
this guy raises maybe 1 or 2 solid points per video. the rest are all just bitching because it is... "different"
also anyone who considers themselves enough of a fan to make a video like this, should know that storm troopers are not clones...
*****
I think it would've worked better if they put McDiarmid in but with his hood hiding his face. That way the signature voice would be kept but the mystery would remain.
Agreed, the emperor changes are excellent.
I seriously don't mind the prequels. It's still Star Wars, and I love it for that fact alone.
+Jonathan Dahlberg Same here but it still comes with countless flaws but even then it is still enjoyable. Atleast it was for me.
+Jonathan Dahlberg I love you just for this comment.
+Thickerspartan That being said moderm movie standards are at an all time low. And I have to completely disagree with your point that the old movies had no emotion.
True Star Wars fan here ☝🏻️
+Jonathan Dahlberg I couldn't agree more. Though, I gotta say, the whole romance thing on Episode 2 was so damn awful I thought I was watching a mexican soap opera.
Not all Stormtroopers are clones!!! That's the reason for the different voices!
Dominik L. That bothers the hell out of me. Thank you for also noticing.
DeexStar only vaders fist
DeexStar yes they were. They were his 501st legion clones
@Hush Some stormtroopers are clones.
Yeah, FN-2187
Changing the emperor was a good change. Even if the prequels never happened it would have made sense to change it.
I guess so, it still sucks for the original actors though.
because what matters the most is the film, and not the personal lives or feelings of the actors
+4reptar20
The woman who played the emperor in the hologram died though, the voice actor did not though, I think.
Stormtroopers are not clones. Most of them are actually recruits. The remainder of the clones died from the explosion of the first Death Star.
+TheChornick Really? Because I read that the remaining clones died out due to old age because their aging process was accelerated.
+SirJedi Consular Also, the Kaminoans revolted against the empire so it could no longer be used to grow clones
Kinda shocked he'd complain about The Emperor... Looking through rose tinted glasses, I guess.
+Metalks I know, the remastered emperor, did help created continuity. The original one, damn near looks like an Alien.
+JoeDannyMan Haha. It's right there in the name. "Sidious."
+JoeDannyMan Exactly, and Lucas even noted how Palpatine is pure evil, unlike Vader. He noted Palpatine is the devil in the Star Wars Universe.
The only time I liked the Boba voice change is when he says "he's no good to me dead." It sounds a lot more iconic, and sounds like hes actually trying to threaten Vader.
Gavin Hall the original line isn’t muffled like the rest
Gavin Hall The original line left me thinking he was saying, “He was no good to me, *Dad*” when I was young. The change actually helped me, if in a small way.
Palpatine was just as evil in return of the jedi as the prequels.
No no no in the prequels he used anakin Manipulating him using as puppet and made him destroy the Jedi order. In the original trilogy Palatine used Darth Vader as puppet and a tool of destruction Palatine made him kill the Jedi that they thought would be at the area so the Jedi order would never rebuild itself and remained destroyed
SEE TOTALLY A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO U IDIDWAT
So yeah, he was a manipulative villain in both trilogies.
yeah exactly
i agree with you on most parts except the emperor one, he looks 1.000.000 times better in the 2004 re-release, and what the fuck man??? you can't trash someone for making the villain too evil
+mroriona2 You should use commas instead of points in those kinds of numbers. 1.000.000 is the same as 1.0, and if you times something by 1, it's 1 :P
Dont mean to grammar nazi but its an important but subtle mistake to make.
well i live in europe and we all use points instead of comas for these types of numbers i forgot that everyone here is american
Actually I'm from Britain, and we use commas in our numbers. I assumed that was a worldwide thing. Now I have to look it up.
oh didn't know, we use points here in greece and other european countries
+mroriona2 I agree. How can the Sith Lord be too evil?
to be honest i like the new emperor more than the orignal one
Yeah, I think the evilness and slyness of Ian McDiarmid's version is what has made the character so well-liked as a villain.
Jedi S.H I agree!

"They just made him so god damn evil."
Really? Perhaps he's evil because he's A SITH LORD and a master of the dark side? What's so wrong with an evil character BEING FUCKING EVIL?
"We get it, the emperor is a bad guy"
Funny, you rant endlessly about how the changes suck but on this one you merely say "Unnecessarily so. We get it, the emperor is a bad guy"
Yeah, that sounds like gratuitous bitching.
he blamed the prequels for making him evil, completely ignoring how evil The Emperor was during Return of the Jedi. Good god how does he think the Emperor took over the Republic and created an oppressive regime, through kisses and love!?
I agree. The Emperor is as close to an embodiment of the dark side as what has ever existed. Of course he's fucking evil. A more evil being has never existed.
In ROTJ, the emperor looks like the "new version" from empire strikes back. It's the same actor.
Yeah I know... I'm not going to continue watching his videos. He is talking like butthurt kid, who complains about EVERYTHING.
"they made him too evil", what about his f*ckin apprentice who is dressed in all black robotic suit with a black cape, has a dark voice, and wields a red lightsaber?? x(
Agreed on all accounts.
I'm okay with the Emperor's change.
Thumbs up for that picture. I don't know what the hell it is, but it's great.
Yeah, I'm a sucker for a good deep, metal-y voice like the emperor's. And I don't mind the visual enhancements, the lumpy eye doesn't really bespeak power, you know?
I agree. Ian McDiarmid is the only one who should play the emperor. He's brilliant.
I agree. Same for the Wampa change!
"I know Boba was a clone, but so were all the Stormtroopers in the original trilogy."
Source?
@@grizzly_manbanimation8436 Me after episode 14. Yep
I remember that the stormtroopers were supposedly all clones..
The Stormtroopers aren't Clones.
+Gabriel Ryan I did.
Ahh another person that blindly hates the prequels because the internet said so.
+QuakeGamer632 Because the internet said so? Where are you getting this logic?
That_Pon3_Ruler Looking at people on the internet...

Joshua Day I can't really join in never saw the prequels
3:09 stormtroopers weren't clones, they stopped cloning and started hiring not long after the empire was formed
If I’m not mistaken in the legends version the Kamino cloning facility turned against the empire so the Emperor had to shut down the cloning program

stormtroopers aren't clones
They were, but gradually decomissioned
+Rhys Thomas....................
+Juan perez He's right you know.
Juan perez "most of them"
And we're done.
the stormstroopers are not clone, the clonetroopers are
A fact that a lot of peoples seems to forget, that between the III and IV episodes Clonetroopers have just dyed out and where decomitioned, and the New Empire started to make Troops levy adn enrollements on all of the Planetes governed by it.
The current canon is all that matters now going forward.

Alec Mackenzie Really? You must not know many twins.
It's Daniel Logan's voice, not some computer generated mock up of what Temuera Morrison would sound like when he was a kid!
chriscos123 So you know twins that have Identical voices (not just voices that sound the same on the phone or sound similar in person?)?
Alec Mackenzie Three pairs of them, all of which are indistinguishable from each other.
I'm so tired of people insulting the prequel.

You just like to complain, holy shit. At least know what you are talking about. Lucas said Han did not shoot first, so he didn't, it's his story.
Korey Jordan he's just a star wars fanboy, just laugh at him and move on
***** boohoo my wet dreams about star wars are ruined :'(
***** Stop right there.
Bottom line.
ur not a starwars fan if u hate the prequels
Then clearly 75% of Star Wars fans aren't star wars fans
N05L31 75% percent eh. is tht a real statistic?
Not necessarily real, but realistic.
The prequels were terrible movies. Good CGI, but terrible writing, plot and characters.
No, scratch that, not terrible, lightyears beyond terrible.
Sidious06 I enjoyed the prequels, but 75% of the fans don't is what I'm trying to say.
I know. I was saying that you obviously didn't let everyone in the fandom take a poll, but the 75% statistic is still realistic.
Stop overreacting on the prequels, man.
Deion Mitchell
No, it's adequate reacting.
Ehhhh it doesn't bother me when they change bobas voice but that's me.
It should bother you.
@who you WANT someone to be bothered?
Same
Boba actually makes sense because he is actually a clone of Jango.
I like the Clone voice more!
Yeah. I was born into the prequels but I actually enjoy the originals way more.
Got the tickets for VII.
+AlphaLineGaming how much are they
Danny Gove At my place, they were $10. Some are cheaper, some later. I was lucky enough to purchase before they sold out.
"i don't mind improvements in the Quality"
Complains about the improvement Made to the emperor
Comment section is awful for this video.
Unemployed people with nothing better to do with their lives can be very passionate and angry about unimportant things, it's all they have
Magicgameyup Official This video came out five years ago and people like you are bitching over his opinions, the only bitches here are you and everyone else that are still giving HelloGreedo hell for liking and disliking certain things.
He bitched about the change of the emperor. That's how fucking stupid he is.
What is with youtubers I like watching other youtubers I like.
These videos are a perfect example of nostalgia goggles.
+Deroni76 How?
It may just be me, but I like the new emperor a lot more.
ikr the other one was mot scary at all
Everyone does except this guy...
I just like how he dances around the fact that this change was to keep continuity based on the very next movie, and not the prequels, considering the original Emperor hologram looked nothing like him in Jedi. It's clear that this guy skirted around that just to have something else to bitch about.
*****
I think the point he is making is that evil need not be underlined so much just like suspense becomes greater without any clear object.
Im fed up of people just hating on the prequels just because someone else doesn't like them I actually enjoyed them
a surprise to be sure but a welcome one
Very well said. This guy is an idiot.
Yarp. Even though it's fun to rant about his major blunders, not ALL decisions made by George Lucas need to be terrible.
agreed, so much nipicking and complaining about things that aren't even that big of a deal
the emperor part is ridiculous, it's in there to keep the emperor looking the same as he did in the prequels and in return of the jedi, also in return of the jedi the notion of him simply being a ruler of an expansionist kingdom is also shattered because he looks and act evil
the bobba fett one i agree with him, the original sounds more badass than morrison's performance and it's similar to jango's voice
*****
I actually prefer the new Boba Fett voice to the old one. I think it makes him sound more bad-ass in the sense of a "a guy who keeps his cool." However, I can see where you would disagree with me, and I think that's fine.
***** I used to think that Boba might have had his throat crushed way back when. He isn't exactly in the most docile business in the world.
Ian played the emperor in EP 6. Was he too evil then? 😂. They literally used the same actor for all of it except this scene which they changed
alot of unnecessary whining. reason why I hate some star wars fans. at a certain point its not even a valid complaint
Then why did you watch the video if you're not a star wars fan??????
@@Obiwan1994Kenobi-iv4jf why wouldn't he?
ORIGINAL=SUCKS
PREQUELS= FUCKING GOLD
The trolling is strong in this one
***** ;)
I like the originals and prequels
I liked them both
***** well the originals weren't perfect either. -_-
Although I liked both
No they didnt make the emperor "unnecesary evil" in the prequel.
ScottEDawg23 when did i say its not evil?
Simón Salgueiro
He's agreeing with you.
Thank god, my mum was a star wars fan and she gave me all unaltered VHS tape when I was young.
Hi, I know this video is 10 years old but I was wondering if you remembered what music you used after the trivia intro when talking about Empire? The one linked in the description by CZcams isn't accurate.
I like Boba's new voice. Morrison has a badass voice that improves the character for me.
Also, he voices Boss in Republic Commando :D
I like it too. It's just too bad the original voice talent will be forgotten over it. :(
I kind of like the original guy he did a good job with Boba's voice but I do agree with you, the new voice sounds badass
To be fair, the guy who voiced Boba Fett originally only had a couple of lines. It's not like he played a major role and then they just cut every scene he made an appearance in.
god this is old
R.I.P Jason Wingreen
What the hell is your problem with them changing the Hologram scene. If anything they were trying to make the Emperor more similar to his Episode VI appearance. But God forbid you move an ounce of dislike from the prequels to the original.
I love the George Lucas haters. Like seriously people? You wouldn't be having any of these conversations if it wasn't for him. The man is a genius and a pioneer in movie making. His contributions to cinema changed everything about entertainment, merchandising and our imaginations as a whole. Stop hating.
You assume criticizing=hate. That isn't how being an adult works
No tristan is right there are lots of people who down right hate Lucas for the prequels and the special editions it's one thing to debate like we do here we may even feel strongly about our opinions but death threats and countless petitions trying to ban his future involvement are just Stupid
azbacnikorange And what are Adults if not just old children?
Omg is that The Album Leaf at 1:20?! The American Dollar!!?? It's so good! All audio and video in these videos you're making are excellent. Thank you for sharing these, keep the ball rolling :)
Storm troopers aren't clones
Come on, the emperor in the 1980 version looked like shit. It seemed a giant frog.
the reason the later stormtroopers had different voices was because they used different DNA. they only used Jango's DNA for the originals. But they gradually got replaced by different clones and a few normal people.
most were normal people by the time of a New Hope.
Until Order 66 and the demise of the Jedi all troopers were clone troopers to ensure that there was no opposition to the plan.
Collin Buckman About two thirds if I'm not mistaken.
No, its actually canon.
If it was a simple matter of different actors, they would have cast someone with an american accent for Jango.
Is there any blueray release of the Old star wars movies, witch just picture enhancement and no CG enhancements within the movie?
What is the music playing when you are talking about the remastered Wampa scene?
I don't like the prequels that much either but being obsessed with bashing it your whole life is just crazy hahahaha!!! Besides be thankful George Lucas even created this whole damn universe you are currently obsessing on.
Guy makes a brilliant string of movies that captivates a generation and spends the next 30 years trolling his fans.
I think his point is that Goerge Lucas didn't create it, he helped create it.
Richard McAlpine
what the fuck are you talking about? the entire story and Universe was put together BY HIM, YEARS IN ADVANCE, prequels or OT, they're all (except episode 2) FAR BETTER than most movies people pass off as cinima, most of them aren't even original stories anymore, because they can't write for shit, not to mention they probably planned the entire story out in 2 hours instead of years or even decades like GL did.
I am glad we got to see more of the Wampa, I had always wondered what it looked like until the special edition came out
The original Emperor just feels more chilling.
Making changes to Empire is like making changes to the Mona Lisa with a jiffy marker.
dude stormtroopers are NOT clones. they're recruited.
+iPeng MkII yea they are clones
the first order ones in episode 7 are recruited though
I think some are clones but most were decommissioned by the time the first Death Star was destroyed. The Empire found that it was no longer necessary to quickly mass produce their troops. Some of the retired clones, like Captain Rex from the Clone Wars TV series, even helped the early rebels. If you're someone who believes that the Expanded Universe needs to be considered canon again, you might also know that the 501st crushed a clone rebellion on Kamino and permanently ended their production.
Changing the emperor was fine, but they should have kept the shadow over his face. That is a big part of what makes him so scary as a character
Where do you find these clips from the original cuts?
I really like Boba's new voice better.
Really? -to me it sounds like the actor is not even trying - the delivery sound forced and unnatural - especially in the last clip we hear - Jason Wingreen on the other hand is nothing short of epic, the timing, pace - he IS Boba Fett, also I hate you..
I don't, I think they would go better off for having Temuera Morrison for Jango Fett and Jason Wingreen for Boba Fett.
Starburst7641 You hate someone for having a different opinion?
"He's no good to me dead." sounds SO much better with the original Wingreen take...
I don't get why people hate the prequels, well i know that the first one, was not the best, but the others...theyr'e not bad? If they werent there you wouldn't the whole story...
Attack of the clones is pretty atrocious too. There are parts in Revenge of the Sith that suck but it's mostly good.
+3Logic The only prequel episode i hated was episode 2
+Greezey Anakin being a whiny kid? Ha, good one. Well, unless you watch most of Attack of the Clones. But what about Mat Lucas and Matt Latner Anakin? Those were a lot more like Vader.
does anyone know what software for windows i can use on a white projector screen i want to use video with me in it
Is there some kind of in between edition? Because as a kid I remember my dad showing me the movies and the wampa scene wasn't there. But the new emperor was tehre
A few questions:
1.) Why do people not like the idea of Medichlorians?
To quote a friend, "It was the answer you didn't want, to the question you didn't ask."
also, watch the theatrical cut on dvd you see han shoot first
Okay, but it had to be genetic.
Farts not to mention Yoda's whole teaching in Empire.
The changes in this one are actually not bad... The Emperor looks terrible in the original version.
What is the song called when you start the ESB changes ?
Great video. Liked the cute edit you did in the beginning and the voiceover synopsis before getting to changes.
I know this is old and probably already said in the thousands of other comments and it won't get read unless someone is really interested in seeing the latest comments.
So it's easier to preserve continuity by changing the scenes in the original trilogy then to actually think about continuity while filming prequels? How does that work?
Your comment should be taken down for making too much sense.
well it's impossible to preserve continuity 30-some years after the films were shot. some of the actors are ancient/dead, so they obviously cant keep them around to preserve continuity.
***** It wouldn't be hard at all if George would have re-watched the original trilogy before writing the prequels.
Haters gonna hate...
This guy is clearly over thinking into his own ass,
most of the change is reasonable than dwelling into.
People are saltier about this video than HelloGreedo was when he made it lol
I think a lot of the viewers forget that this was one of his first videos and he wasn't as calm and collected as he is now
can anyone let me know the names of the songs he uses in the background of his voice overs? thanks
I'm glad they changed Boba's voice. He sounded like a goddamn pirate in the original.
I'm not a big fan, its a little bit disrespectful to the original guy's work, same with Hayden Christainsen in Episode 6
The new voice sucks
He sounded like a bad guy in the original I bet there was a reason :)
I agree. They actually made him have a normal voice. I laughed at his original voice. The new one is an improvement.
Jesus, I just discovered your channel and you sure have changed
Bobas vice change was a good thing he originally sounded like a 7 year old
+Eion Mcparland What 7 year old do you know that sounds like that? Pretty dumb.
+HelloGreedo I get what you meet though I just didn't like the voice I think the new one sounds a lot better good vids keep it up your really funny
+HelloGreedo and it was a figure of speech
I think he sounded too old
He might be joking talking about the trashy prequel boba fett actor
That's true. While a lot of changes weren't necessary, I don't think it took away from the film at all.
agreed
At least they didn't change the yoda puppet to CGI.
Hey man, I just want to know what music you used starting at 1:20. Very pretty!
The Album Leaf - "See In You"
Now that I think about it, the original voice of Boba Fett seemed rather forced.
Holy shit Boba Fett's original voice sounds fuckin bad ass.
They weren't cloning. Just recruiting. Kamino's facilities were destroyed.
Michelle Lehto the Empire had other cloning facilities
Michelle Lehto
Do your research dude.

Its hard to believe you guys are still trying to argue with me. Cloning became more advanced so when the new troopers were cloned they were cloned as full adults and didnt need to have age acceleration. They also got memories and lives imprinted in their minds so they thought they were normal people.
PLEASE turn your captions on your videos. I have a hearing problem due to an accident. I would appreciate it. Thanks.
That intro was badass dude! I laughed waaay too hard at that haha
