    Old school turntablist fan here. I got the original Party Mix for my son to try. He never took to it so I mostly mess around with it now. I like the addition of the dedicated filter knobs and touch sensitive jog wheels.

    I got the first party mix and Iam glad that they do major improvements with this new partymix. From the filter knobs, detachable data cables and its placement, to touch capacitive jogwheels! And they are also compatible with algoriddim for mobile phones which makes this controller good for practice/ mobile use.

      Yes it was already a great little unit for the price :)

    "The speakers are [says it quickly] alright." "The filters are [says it quickly] alright, but I wouldn't use them at a party." So much for the Party Mix, lol. Nonetheless, and please permit me to say so, Phil, I really love your professionalism and tone while you review equipment. No matter what the gear is, you never overtly come across smack talkin' new gear that you review.

      That is the downsides to these types of controller, if you really get the bug then you'll outgrow it quickly. It can still be great as a backup or to take on the move though :)

    I noticed quickly that the "scratch" button has been removed on this from the first gen model, so I looked it up and they added touch sensitive jog wheels. That was one of my quirks with the original, because if you activated the "scratch" feature, there was a slight pause in the music as soon as you stopped moving the jog wheel so it wasn't a smooth transition back to the music. Really weird actually, and made it impossible to do a backspin transition, unless you immediately de-toggled the scratch button during it. This probably erases that completely, and with the filter knobs added as well, might be worth me replacing the original with this, as that is my mini backup for gigs.

      Yes good point

    • @danb4376
      @danb4376 Před 3 lety +2

      Ya, the slight lag when stopping scratching or back spinning sucked on the original. Made it kind of useless. No matter how hard you tried it always sounded amateur with the extra little lag when stopping the jogs.

    I have the first party mix and actually I love it. no it's not scratch ready but to mix it's awesome. I came up in the 80s so I know about scratching. looks toyish but it's not a toy if you know what you're doing.

    This will fit the bill for my ultra small portable controller when I’m NOT gigging with my RANE ONE or using my DDJ-REV1 as my workhorse. I have the DJ2Go2 and I think 🤔 the Party Mix2 will be more practical as an on the go toss in a bag device.

    For a small "portable size" controller like this that requires AC power is pretty much a deal killer: one of the plus of these small size controllers is portability and USB-bus powered is what makes these small controllers worthwhile. Also, instead of filter knob I rather have a 3-band EQ and I'm saying that as a beginner dj.

    • @digitaldjtips

    Hello, I’m looking for an entry level (£200 max) DJ controller. I’ll be using Djay on the IPad for software.
    The one thing I need is the ability to practise mixing only using headphones…I only have practise time when my 3 year old is sleeping.
    Do you have any recommendations please?

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  Před 3 lety +1

      You can practise on all controllers using just headphones, but if you want "split cue" (the pro method of doing so), you won't find it on any controllers anywhere near that price. So basically, any controller that works with djay and that has a headphones socket and a cue/master knob will work.
