*Guys they're not saying the N word, "naega" in korean means "I". It's so sad that they have to edit their language to play the song in north america to not offend ppl 😪* (I’m not saying the reactors were offended I think they know it’s a Korean word but for those that don’t know)
Neither is Korean, which is why misunderstanding can occur. The reactors were obviously joking though so I wish fans would chill out.
You gotta understand that not many americans are familiar with korean. So because 'naega' do sound like the n word, they changed it. They're getting big here in America and mess up like that can cost their reputation here so it's a smart move to be honest. I don't think there was nothing wrong with the change.

Basically the song is about not being true to yourself when you're in love , like hiding your true self just to be loved and please the other. Then you realize that it becomes Fake love , that kind of love when you don't love yourself enough won't work. And the song can be about being in love with someone else but it can also be about your relation with your own self. I don't if that makes sense for you guys.

(I hoped that kinda explained it, but keep in mind that it’s open to interpret however you want and it isn’t necessarily a romantic relationship)

Fun fact: Apparently they changed the lyrics for the bbma performance where they say niga (you are) and naega (I) so that the American audience wouldn't think they were actually saying nigga and misunderstand. It shouldn't have to be done, but it's thoughtful and a nice accommodation to be that aware. Also, all of the effects in the video (the water pouring through, the fire, the falling floor) are all real. They're not CGI.

Just wanted to let you guys know, what you were hearing were the words "naega" meaning "I" and "nega" meaning "you". BTS is actually facing some controversy for this right now, because the Korean words sound so similar to the n-word. Fake Love is their first song to impact the radio in the US, and the words "naega" and "nega" are being censored because it sounds so much like the derogatory term. However, many fans are upset about this because they certainly are not saying anything derogatory, they are being censored simply for speaking their own language. If you think about how many times we say "I" and "you" in English songs, you can imagine how many times they would be bleeped out, it almost ruins the song. To make the situation worse, if non bts fans hear the song on the radio and decide to check out the original version, they will hear naega and nega in place of the censored words, which will only lead them to think they are literally saying the n-word. It's really a sucky situation to be in cuz there's no easy solution
Nickie they're not actually facing any controversy at all... They changed the lyrics for the BBMA's and for it to be played on the radio, that's it. No news media has made a big deal out of this. They covered themselves before controversy could be made, hence that there's no actual controversy... They've not been criticized for anything.
Sorry, I guess controversy was the wrong word to use. I meant more within the fandom there was a big deal about it, what with many angry fans contacting radio stations for censoring their lyrics. But then I know at least one radio station responded that it was not them that censored the lyrics, they received the censored version from Columbia records. I guess you would say there's division? There are those that are angry that they are being censored for simply speaking their own language and then there are those who are fine with them being censored as long as it keeps Americans from getting the wrong idea.
Nickie well, see that's my point, it's not really that much of a controversy because radio stations didn't censor the words, it was BTS themselves that censored them for the western release. So armies contacting radio stations and complaining is just sad, because it was BTS themselves and their team who made this conscious decision. The ones complaining about this issue should be complaining to BTS directly for making this situation of censorship over words that are unrelated, just because others will take offense. It's not a problem of the media, this time around. It's a problem of BTS and their team avoiding the situation before it happens.

The song that mike was looking for that matched the beat was the part in motor sport where quavo sings “take the air out the ball just so I can flex”
The song is called "fake love" bc it's about not loving yourself, so being unable to have a real loving relationship. They can't be themselves around their s.o, which is why they sing about "molding you a pretty lie" and wearing masks and being someone's doll (aka, an idealized image of a person, not imperfect like a real person).
It parallels DNA, bc it's basically striping back the mask of DNA, which was so colorful and bright in an effort to prove to themselves and others that their love is perfect and destiny, when underneath (the fake love mv) it is actually dark and fake.
The writing on the wall behind tae in the hall of cellphones says "save me", but when you flip it upside down in says "I'm fine."
They were t talking about giving false impressions to receive love from someone. In that quote "I tried to grow a flower in a dream that couldn't come true." They're saying that i want to make a love built on lies last, but because it's not me it wont last. When we love people we'll sometimes take on their desires and expectations to make them happy, but relationships built on falsehoods aren't built to sustain. For BTS, they're struggling with coming into themselves. They love, and want to be loved, but dont know how to be loved or to love someone else. Because we've been told love is sacrifice, some of us will continuously sacrifice bits and pieces of ourselves to receive that love; be it a lover, ourselves, our parents, society, etc.

Basically the song is talking in general about love not being true. In the words of our great leader, Fake Love can be between you and yourself or you and another person. So I interpreted it as basically if you don't learn to accept yourself you can never truly love yourself. The lines about molding a pretty lie for you, and the one about the doll is basically speaking about how people often times try and change themselves, in love or even life for example. Yet, you aren't really being true to yourself. This song along with the album explores the darker sides of love. So yeah that's really it. Love you guys reactions as always, but if you're into learning more about the album and their storyline, I would definitely recommend finding the track list and going through lyrics translations when you have the time.
The line about about the flower and the dream not coming true is a reference to a previous song's video "I need you". You could say in a sense it's part 2 of that song.
