I APOLOGIZE FOR MY SCUFFED NO CAM SETUP I was using Zoom for the first time in forever and couldn't seem to get my cam to work for both me and Levy simultaneously, I'll get techgod on it for the next lesson.
Twitch Streamer and International Master Levy Rozman generously offered to give me a little lesson to help boost my chess skill, and we ended up shooting the breeze for a couple hours in what I think was a very informative session. Check it out!

I think there could be some legitimate lessons in grass movements that could be very interesting for the audience though.

I think that it's more the fact that NL's been working more towards expanding his business by actively asking people to leave a like, looking at comments and commenting himself that has brought about more activity. I didn't feel like leaving a like or commenting mattered that much especially since it puts a video into my "liked videos" playlist which I didn't feel like doing, but NL said it helped a lot so now I'm leaving a like even if I don't watch the video. He's always done new series and playing great games (Many of them not "niche" like Dark souls, Slay the spire, Mass effect, Sekiro, Fallout etc.) and I've been enjoying it for the last 7+ years but now that he's telling me exactly how to help you better believe I'm doing it. I would say more people have played some other games on this channel than played chess, but NL knew to capitalize on the ongoing trend brought about by the Queen's Gambit series.

I relaxed at the end of the evening by watching a two hour chess lesson, relived and re-evalutated my own 10-year old chess tutorship to how I would think now as a 30 year old man, learnt some core chess theory in the process, all the while enjoying someone else do the actual hard brain work of the whole experience. This is the level of pog I signed up for.
As I already said in Levy's comments, when NL said collabs were coming I was expecting Botez instead of him!

I love that after the first hour the advice can be boiled down to: Don't misclick and Don't be so trade-happy. And after the second hour you can add: Be a little more aggressive. I think that speaks volumes towards NL's understanding of the theory and positioning (which Levy comments on at various points).
Great job on doing colabs. They give the channel exposure and I get to watch Ryan interact with people I like. Hopefully he will do something with Sips.

Ryan, I never thought I’d ever have any interest in chess, but this series has really inspired me to try and learn, and has easily become one of my favorite series you’ve ever done! You’re a natural!
I love how NL just fucking sends it and is 1500.
Levy said something early into this that really helps me. I’m just starting to learn after a brief stint like. 20yrs ago in grade 4. “You let them simplify.” That’s exactly what I do too. I often have really good control at first with a solid opening. Then fuck up some moves, but because I was so solid in the open, I can limp it home for a win or draw.
Honestly the chess content has inspired me to start playing a few beginner games for fun. Thanks again for a great series! Sorry to hear about the apparent death of Slashers keep due to back seating, but I really like this “2-3 series rotating every couple weeks” style. Enough to get into the content, but not so long as to make it dry (other than Issac).
