    Question : how do they know they have feed all the fish ?

    • @jeidun
      @jeidun Před 4 lety

      im guessing they would be able to identify starving fishes.
      fishes' stomachs are quite out in the open
      if its round, its full of food
      if its flat and sunken, it has yet to eat anything
      if its a big ball and swollen, its constipated
      idk these are just for little aquarium fishes, idk about those big saltwater bois

    4:06 Is there any risk here being so close to these big stingrays? Reminds me of Steve Irwin case

    • @meronn6055
      @meronn6055 Před 4 lety +20

      That’s actually a really good question. Stingrays are generally non-aggressive, and will not sting unless stepped on or provoked in some violent way.
      In Steve Irwin’s case, he died because the sting was straight to his chest. Usually stings will occur in the lower region like foot or something due to being stepped on (since stingrays tend to live near the bottom)
      I think the aquarium hires very careful professionals who know not to step on the stingrays on the bottom and to not ka chiao the ones swimming around!

    • @tomj2064
      @tomj2064 Před 4 lety +3

      K Leong Steve Irwin only got stabbed because of his shadow which scared the stingray. The stingray also only killed him because the barb went into his heart, otherwise he prob could have survived. Also, i think the stingrays barbs are removed

    ? whats better than sashimi grade? live food?
    wayang of a video
    my friend worked at SEA aquarium awhile back, dive team.
    he said that most aquarist are not paid enough to give a crap about whats going on, they go in finish their jobs and go home, they dont educate themselves further than what SEA teaches them
    no 1 is working at 100% when they are not paid properly and end up they have way more staff compared to places like ocean park in hongkong
    when someone wants to do things faster or better, they will complain spoil market
    and things are not upkeeped properly, fishes just die cause aquarists cant be bothered to research how to take care of them, they treat everything the same way the SOP told them to

    • @JohnCrisostomo

      About the pay, I have a different perspective: some of us are paying hundreds of dollars to dive every month or so, while these people are paid to dive 4x a day. Maybe some people just don't have good work ethic, it's common in any workplace.

    • @shadowremorse
      @shadowremorse Před 3 lety +1

      @@JohnCrisostomo well its a more than common sight when management doesnt care, and this is exactly what my friend was going on about. education or encouraging self education/improvement pays a important role. I am a chef, i know this better than anyone else, if there is no career growth, not career path, no stimulation to get better, chefs just rot, and i believe that this apply to every trade. and not through my experience training young kids, its the old ones that totally show it in singapore, they just dont give a damn, minimal effort in at work, while complaining they dont get paid enough. i always tell them minimal effort = minumal pay. they dont care if the food is not good enough, their reasoning is "did the customer complain?". came to a conclusion that when everytime i met with a comeback like that, i just simply tell them that "yeah no 1 complain at macdonalds either, you can go work there". and for one, i am the kinda chef that doesnt care how the food turns out as long as i see some sort of effort the chef cooking it puts in

    • @JohnCrisostomo
      @JohnCrisostomo Před 3 lety

      @@shadowremorse I completely get and understand your point. I have to also share that in MNCs a lot of people are highly paid with access to career path, training, support- you name it, but are still doing the bare minimum or mediocre output because of complacency (through years of exp in their CV) or whatever personal reason they have. So probably still got something to do with an individual's attitude. But yes, you are right. It sucks to work for a company that just doesn't care.

    • @shadowremorse
      @shadowremorse Před 3 lety

      @@JohnCrisostomo yes attitude is important, but working culture is even so and that need to start at the top. you can fit a bad attitude in a motivated team and the person will be forced to get out or get good. the poor working culture in singapore is directly linked to people/bosses being cheap. most bosses here are trying to be competitive and lower their prices for people that are cheap, while wanting to keep the same profit. thus, staff get a lower pay grade, which leads to them not treating their job with pride and wanting to excel in it. when someone new joins the company, thats the working culture and thats the attitude they adopt and bring forward to the next job. this is so prevalent in blue collar jobs that its just a toxic cycle really. i mean most of asia is like that.
      a very good example in house renovation industry.
      in australia, the contractors/staff are trained properly, get paid properly and have a decent living in their own country while doing a job that themselves and customers are happy with
      in singapore, a lot of the worker knows the fundamental of things but are not properly skilled, isnt paid properly, has a hard time living here and uses cheap materials and short cut just so they can handover, leaving the place in a mess most of the time and frustrates the customer to no end
      i am not saying that there are no good ones here, its just that a lot of company in singapore has this mass market cheap-ass business model thats causing the workforce to be so weak
