    Very nice informative, 'to the point' video. I do not hear nor see any salesmanship in this video. I really loved how you physically showed what you like on the Dynon screen. That alone gave the viewer a first hand view on what the discussed feature actually looks like in real time flight. I have come across to many videos that are all chat with the camera pointed at the pilot or the 'outside the wind screen' view. Most pilots already know what the view looks like outside the windscreen. I have yet to see a first person video of the Dynon HDX screen during a IFR approach showing the synthetic vision first person, especially at IAF. Lets face the truth. These systems such as the Dynon HDX are made to help the pilot reduce the workload during all phases of flight, especially during high workload such as IFR approach. Keep up the great work on these videos.

      Thanks a lot for such a great comment dbpilot! I really appreciate that! I have done plenty IFR approaches and I am very sure that I recorded enough footage to make such an IFR approach video. Let me see what I can come up with. Again, thanks a lot!

    Absolute great video. I’m scheduled to have a dual Skyview HDX installed in my Mooney and your videos definitely just solidify my belief that I made the right choice. I have dual IFDs but watching you demonstrate the Skyview comm features almost makes me want to get that too but having three radios doesn’t make sense. I’m probably going to postpone my installation until Dynon replaces that god awful D10A (Which should be any month now.

    • @FlyingDirty
      @FlyingDirty  Před 3 lety

      I think you will be absolutely impressed with the HDX. You get more features at a much affordable price and the unit is just pretty slick. I was going to go with two IFD's until I messed around with the Dynon Com and loved it. Then decided instead of spending another 11k why not 2.5k and have a radio that I'll use 90% of the time. Since the Dynon Com Radio I just don't use the IFD radio com very much. Although it's a very slick unit the Dynon Com is extremely easy to use in IFR with just a push of a button and it's right there in the front display. So I decided 1 IFD with a 430W exchange and a D-Com. The D10A has not been bad at all for me. The biggest complaint is the brightness but for that reason I placed it more towards the middle and the brightness has not been a problem. Best of success with your new install. You are going to love it!

    Thank you for the great video! We are having the almost identical system installed in our PA28-140 (less the GPS). Agree completely, really wish they would STC the Piper 28 & 32s autopilot, and we'd be selling the TruTrak. The best answer I got from Dynon is that due the complexity, timeline, and cost of the certification process, they had to work with airframes which were available to them on a permanent basis. So, I'm guessing one of the owners or key engineers had a Seneca to use for development. Anyway - I'd love to see you fly a few IFR approaches, and demonstrate your workflow on the avionics. That would be very interesting! Best wishes!

    • @FlyingDirty
      @FlyingDirty  Před rokem

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts Gerald! I do understand about the complexities but Dynon should know that the lack of STC approvals on top of not even doing legacy compatibility is greatly hampering their sales potential. I would have love to get another HDX on my Turbo Saratoga but the lack of approvals or compatibility is going to prevent me from getting another Dynon. I’ll definitely keep you in mind next time I do an instrument approach my friend.

      @@bryanellsworth6762 That is a very difficult choice but I think that’s what makes it interesting also. Dynon is a great system but they’ve been stuck working on the M20 for years. It’s hard to say when Dynon will finish the AP approval. But I also don’t know if the AeroCruze has been approved for the M20. But from my point of view, if you are not an IFR pilot and don’t plan to be then the AeroCruze could be a good option. For an IFR pilot it will not be approved for coupled approaches. That along with a 700 feet agl restriction are the biggest downsides. When I bought mine they suckered me by telling me that they were working with the FAA for further approvals to release the agl and coupled approach restrictions. I think they deceived a lot of people to initially sell units. But now with Bendix it is clear that no further approvals are coming.

The Avidyne is magnificent and so user friendly. The IFD100 app is a plus! It's like having two units. I'll be making a video on that probably on the next video. It was hard, probably due to attachment more than anything, in keeping some of the old avionics for back-up but it would have looked like a disaster. I think with the EFIS D10, Avydine and app, autopilot working independently, iPad as a backup, then the iPhone as a last resort is plenty for back ups. Scott, that is correct in theory. The iPad can only connect to one wifi signal at a time. However, the IFD’s wifi hub allows the user to create a hosting network allowing multiple wifi signals combined simultaneously to your iPad. One host and one remote. Bluetooth is a much weaker signal and much more unreliable and would not work for this type of set up.

    Can you do an ILS approach or RNAV with the True Track?

      @FlyingDirty  Před 3 lety

      Hello PERIKLIS, I have a video shooting a GPS approach on this link: czcams.com/video/r4wgo8RpVbA/video.html The TruTrak is not certified yet for ILS but I have not found the need for it since many airports I fly into don't have an ILS approach. But the TruTrak will fly a GPS approach with vertical and lateral like it's locked on tracks. Those needles don't bounce or lag whatsoever. I'll be making a video shortly exclusively on the TruTrak. So far, it's been a fantastic unit and I also love the fact that it has its own built in gyro for tracking so it works independently as well in case you lose your gps or Dynon. Other autopilots must always be coupled with some type of nav equipment, such as, GFC500 and G5 etc. It's just awesome for 5k! Thanks for watching and the comment!

    G, day Flying Dirty Channel from Sydney, Australia.
    The Dynon avionics suit on your panel is new too me, however some questions:
    Q1. The Jepersen approach plates that you pay a subscription, can you use the FAA plates or is access via Foreflight only?
    * the G meter to measure turbulence: is that at that position flying or along the vector ( like a doplar radar)
    Thank you

      Hi John, it's a pleasure to have you watching all the way from Australia my friend! The Dynon is incredible and I like it more than the Aspen or the Garmin G3X. Although I know many who get stuck paying a lot more for other products, they should be looking into these companies that have more advanced options included. To you questions; Q1 = Here, the FAA plates are the official plates. Jeppesen only takes that information to make their own plates. I personally use the Dynon FAA plates but you can use a printed FAA paper plate if you wanted to or Foreflight has the FAA or Jeppesen options. Jeppesen to me are too expensive so I stick with the official FAA plates. Q2 = The G meter is pretty awesome when I am doing mountain flying or instrument flying through bumpy clouds. It measures your current G force that the airframe feels at any given moment. Thanks for the questions and for watching my friend!

    Why "flying dirty"? Please explain

    • @FlyingDirty
      @FlyingDirty  Před 3 lety

      Hi Norman! A dirty flight configuration is a term used for adding drag, such as, flaps and gear down! Since setting up for landing is my favorite part of flying I came up with the name “Flying Dirty”.

    Hi, where did you install your avionics. I am looking at upgrading my Arrow. I am based in Erie, CO. Do you have recommendations for me. I am looking at going Dyson too.
