But I also feel that they have alot of people on their team that cater to an older demographic in terms of collecting. It turns out making some of the fashions look a little dated. I'd love to see Mattel bring 80s and 90s retired headmolds back for the Barbie Extra line. If Mattel could stray away from cheap hair, pixelated screenings, and misaligned lips, these dolls could be amazing! The 80s,90s,00s are having a moment, they totally have all the fuel to make extra, EXTRA. Maybe wave 3 can be their best Extras yet! PS, Love your channel!!!

I really like that Extra Barbie with the blue hair (I also hate the "bow" and I would love to see how you restyle it). Her face sculpt is gorgeous. I usually don't care about the pet but I am a sucker for cats so I kind of like this one. I love how her clothes and accessories are cat themed too. Okay, now I really want her - I hope I can find her in the US!

Second, of all the doll lines, Barbie has become my least favourite because the quality in both the doll (the hollow cheap feeling plastic) and the clothes, has gone down so drastically. And ugh the clothes. Mattel has trapped Barbie in 2000-2009. The fashion is so outdated and tacky. That’s not to say other doll lines always have top tier fashions (some do fall flat and look weird) but Barbie is trapped in the 2000’s and it’s like looking at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards red carpet looks from the noughties lol Barbie, while their diversity in their dolls is awesome, the quality and fashion is not lol As for the dolls in this vid, the dolls themselves are both beautiful. They have lovely faces. I like the second more. Her face and hair are really cute ☺️
@Wow Epic Wish they had had the ‘if it’s not broken don’t fix it’ attitude with Monster High. It was an amazing doll line but then they went and made that terrible, cutesy reboot. I mean I know why they did that, but it was just tragic. I just hope this upcoming MH reboot isn’t god awful like the last one. I hope the dolls are their original quality and glory or better lol
The Barbie extra line is growing on me. I like this doll alot and might actually get her. I'll probably leave her boxed as I actually really like the look. Still not loving the colours on of the clothes though but this wave is better then the first imo.
I love the outfits you put together! I want that doll even more now. Like I think I said before, the fashion may be dated but for me personally it's nostalgic because it's what was popular among my friends and me in my preteen years
I think the extra dolls not having names actually is one of the factors that really differs these from the OMG dolls. one of the main reasons that Barbie and MGA r really not selling the same thing to children is that with the MGA toys you as a kid almost need to find the one u identify with and with Barbie its always been about making her identify with you. she's always been a doll for imprinting yourself onto for play while the OMG and Rainbow High dolls are all thoroughly crafted characters and personalities that you get invited into their world. its a totally different experience for the kid. i genuinely think its y even though they are ever battling set of rival companies they will never actually unseat one another. if i was a kid id want it all not one or the other. i do now.

Ive found with this doll line that what it excels at is being able to market to both children and adult collectors, and there are certain dolls who’s fashion and style is amazing while others seem extremely lacking to me this doll being an example. But #1, #2, and #5 are stunning to me

I honestly LOVE most of the Extra dolls. I ordered this one yesterday - I'm taking that bow out of her hair too. She has a gorgeous face and hair colour which is what drew me to her. That Extra #7 I don't have yet, but I'm planning to get her, take her hair loose, and paint that garish lip colour a little darker.
The Extra 30 reminds me of Holly Go Lightly with her cat. I want to see her when you get rid of the bow hairstyle. I would probably get two because the packaging is clever. The Extra #7 I would get only for her pet because it's supposed to be a Pomeranian and I have one, so I want the mascot. I would get her when she goes on clearance and find someone to rehome the doll with.

These dolls have great potential! LOVE the dolls! Love the articulation. Made to move bodies are to much articulation. These have perfect articulation. It's the fashions I'm not crazy about. Not bbn the pieces them selves, but the combinations. Other wise I want ALL the new Barbie extra dolls. I'll just redress them. Great review as usual. Keep up the excellent work!
For the extra doll #8, the purple top one, she has 2 top on. In myfroggy video, she remove the transparent purple top and under it is a purple bralette for a more casual style with the short. I was shock barbie didn't take short cut and made an additional top OMG For the blue hair doll, I love lady ga ga bow hair style but I feel the Barbie did it wrong. The bow look too weird looking, too many rubberband etc if they just did a bigger bow with her natural hair like ga ga it would look better IMO I really wish the bow didn't look soooo weird. The doll is really cute and can;t wait to get it when it on sale. I don;t think the set is worth $30. If the doll was a made to move body maybe the $30.
Thanks for your review. I really like the blue-haired doll, her face, hair, fashions, accessories, box. I got one to display MIB but then found her little cat had somehow rotated around her arm and was now planted in her skirt with its tail in the air. I had to get a knife to inch through the gap in the box (without opening it) to gently poke the cat back into its correct position on her arm. It bent the plastic a bit, not too badly, but I really want to keep it nice and in box as these are now quite rare.
You know that LOL surprise is still doing hair bows and stuff like bows made out of your own hair so if Barbies doing it it's out of date but if LOL does it it's not out-of-date?

That's so much more interesting and I hope they continue with that. Really getting worried about the Extra line due to the fashions though. :( I only like the clothes on two of the dolls this wave vs. last time where they all seemed more thought out. Like, these pieces look kinda hard to salvage and restyle they're so bad.

Mattel is finally going on the right direction when it comes to quality but I miss how great they used to be when it comes to concepts like the storylines they’d incorporate into each of their brands/lines, the characterization and development of their characters, etc Storytelling has always been mattel’s biggest strength and what set their lines apart from other companies’ and they just completely ditched it
The one with the different colored hairbands could easily pull off a very late 90s/early 2000s look if she was styled a little bit better. She's quite cute and I really like the curvier Barbie dolls, but it's her clothes that throw me off lol nothing matches, but her hairstyle is cute
I think the Extra line is okay. I have #5 and will likely get #7 or #8, and that is probably enough for me. The faces are cute, and the clothes have some decent pieces, even if they don’t necessarily go that well together. The negatives for me are the low hair quality and the variance in the leg colour.
My niece got her and to me she felt like a doll I would buy from the dollar store, down to the clothes and shoes. Like sure she has some extra articulation but just comparing her to a rainbow high or OMG doll at the same price point she really leaves a lot to be desired. She’s a fun doll for a little girl to play with nonetheless.

The lip colour on the Extra #7 is horrible. I plan to paint over it using acrylic paint and a tiny 00 brush with a deep pink or even red.

Mattel is finally going on the right direction when it comes to quality but I miss how great they used to be when it comes to concepts like the storylines they’d incorporate into each of their brands/lines, the characterization and development of their characters, etc
Storytelling has always been mattel’s biggest strength and what set their lines apart from other companies’ and they just completely ditched it
The one with the different colored hairbands could easily pull off a very late 90s/early 2000s look if she was styled a little bit better. She's quite cute and I really like the curvier Barbie dolls, but it's her clothes that throw me off lol nothing matches, but her hairstyle is cute

I like Extra 7 but I wish she had black lipstick instead. The pastel lipstick just look bad on her. Other than that she's real cute.
I think the Extra line is okay. I have #5 and will likely get #7 or #8, and that is probably enough for me. The faces are cute, and the clothes have some decent pieces, even if they don’t necessarily go that well together. The negatives for me are the low hair quality and the variance in the leg colour.
My niece got her and to me she felt like a doll I would buy from the dollar store, down to the clothes and shoes. Like sure she has some extra articulation but just comparing her to a rainbow high or OMG doll at the same price point she really leaves a lot to be desired. She’s a fun doll for a little girl to play with nonetheless.
i think extra barbie needs to improve her style, none of the outfits she wears matches, unlike lol omg each doll has a well defined aesthetic
