As to character meets with kids I feel like the characters are really well trained at reading the situation - my son is autistic and before he would take pic with the characters but wouldn't really interact with them and they were really good at seeing that he is not really into it and did not try to "bother" him. Now that he communicates better he just says he isn't doing it:) And to my two year old daughter I just explained - you go to them and you give them a hug and she was a pro:)
