Are MMOs known for build diversity? I feel like meta builds and BiS gear sets have been a genre staple for over a decade lol. The only real diversity is in the mid game before you actually have anything worthwhile, and nothing you're doing requires a serious build anyway.

@@OldManInternet My first mmo has 3rd class job change. Then you will have to choose skill tree build you want, and on equipment/gear there's element build-wise as well, and stats, as warrior, if you go agi this gives more crit chance, str will give more raw physical damage.

I believe the idea was to grind 500+ hrs and then grief tuvala players in potion spots, but marni/karma changes stopped that so...
BDOs biggest problem w/ gear is that none of it looks cool or causes you to see it and care about it on a regular basis like you can w/ your mythical horses. Only thing on my character that isn't skinned is my BlackStar weapon. I need more of a reason then number go up to get me out there grinding hours on end for something.

Did this. Tried leaving many times and always came back but the time i've spent after each return got shorter and shorter until now only spent 2 days in game. The splendor is gone
I haven't logged in for a couple of weeks because just mindlessly and endlessly grinding mobs for gear progression gets boring. Typically a MMO has engaging group dungeons and raids that comes with actual game mechanics to deal with. In BDO it seems to just be what grind spot to devote your life to next to kill mobs in and repeat. Life skilling can add things to do but even that's limited. In previous years I've put thousands of hours into other MMOs but I only made it to 467 hours in BDO before taking a break which is bad.

Your Arsha server event idea is so good. I’d enhance it by making PvP death auto spawn you at nearest town to make the battles more meaningful.

At least boss gear had some diversity still even if it was less than previously... Griffon vs. Giath, Dim Tree vs. Red Nose, Bhegs vs. Leeburs, Urugon vs. Muskans... now it's actually 0 diversity.

You know what would be sick for open world pvp? Certain grind spots have some sort of PvP enabled thing for X amount of time and can drop valuables if you grind there. Only thing is... To be able to access those spots you have to be flagged for pvp. Literally adds open world pvp and keeps people grinding and having fun. (Going off what you mentioned about the desert)
I dont want to sound all doomer about this, but blue ( just like i used to and friends ) still hype up all the shit PA throws at us like its the new best thing, while we have quite a few years of similar content having been flops rly. My point is, maybe we need to calm down a bit more when PA says that they are going to do something and actually wait for it to happen. At least form where im coming from LOML was a flop kinda, like everything in bdo, it looks cooler than it is. LOML is basically a content island now, "have to do" quest, maybe do some bosses and thats about it, nothing interesting to go back to it, same for Altar of blood and the rift minigame ( both not being in the game no more ). To me LOML's size for being a quest island and mobless is also a disappointment.
The running joke in our discord is: "nest content will be npcless city" or maybe "houseless towns". like Fakeuni said it feels like we can expect less and less.
Maybe i'm coping, but they talked about releasing more items so maybe that will solve the narrow progression path issue.
That idea for Arsha event would be soooo good.
Should their be class specific accessories or another stone like veils? Like 2ap lower the debo but add stats if suc/awoken

For AoS/Guild league, if they want to have cooldown periods, that's fine - give them unranked mode during cooldown periods. Then people can go in and screw around with weird builds and what not while the cooldown period is going on.

okay hear me out, to make players more willing to fight for resources and bring back some of that organic pvp, rotating every week have a few spots 2-3 early game 3-4 mid game and 2 late game
give a 50% drop rate buff and like a special drop like some token you hold and can exchange after the week is over for duo accessories based on your stage of the game and the spot. this would incentivize grinding at contested areas and if they have the spots announced before node wars it can add an extra reason for your guild to own a node but i'm just saying things that'll never happen and make these buffs only on the 1st of a server, like cal 1 kama 1 etc

i forgot about war of the roses. i though there was an announcment about it somewhere about why it stopped. i had no idead that it simply just disappeared one day. the idea of rotatiing out obsourdly high silver per hour on mediah zones on arsha only without making the zones much harder sounds like soo much fun. someone else in the comments suggested insta resing at the nearest safe zone to make fights even more fun

8:20 Eternal Winter? That was supposed to be two parts. We haven't gotten the second part. Same for The Great Expedition; it was supposed to be two parts. We only ever got part one. We still have that area north of Valencia that's been locked off since forever. Who knows if we'll actually ever get to go there. Castle Thornwood, which I think just got reworked into O'dyllita Castle for War of the Roses, which is just gone because reasons. I'm just pointing out that PA does actually have a track record of promising things and then seemingly hoping people forget it was promised or even talked about.
This is the wall I recently hit in pve. I am 305/394 and the next upgrades are essentially just Tet Deborekas, meaning 300b+ silver. I don't grind every day and when I do, I can handle maximum 2 hours at a time. And my reward for grinding that ungodly amount of silver? I get to grind just a bit faster or just grind new spots to literally no end. It has no real purpose because I only do pve.
Because of your bday vod, i also tried to tap 3 pen manos gear; hunt cook and gather. Got all 3 with 36 taps total. Used all of my free crons, never doing it again.

Bought the game on launch, fought daily in Susan's Kitchen, and since those days me and my boys have just kinda logged on for free stuff and ball hammers.
You get all boss gear from the 1st season. Get your pen capotia neck and belt, vell heart, artifacts, crystals and then the process is super straight. You get TRI Godr eye then just go for 5 TRI debos and 1 TET disto/dawn. Then you just upgrade it all step by step. That's kinda it.
Upgrade armours only when you start to take too much damage while grinding.(it's avoidable if you just live in 2nd floor sycraia untill you are 5x tet debos+pen disto and 3x pen BS. Then you can upgrade your armour to duo/tri so you can farm base debos for pen attempts)
And the only reason that the UN Podcast reaches the devs ears is because you have at least 1 KR representative. If you didn't have the KR representative, devs wouldn't even know that the UN Podcast exists.
Also, the idea about making 1 spot OP in terms of money/h only on Arsha is amazing. It can either become an event or a permanent implementation and they change the spot once a month. All they have to do is add a special trash loot that drop only on arsha that is more expensive. And maybe remove the normal trash loot or leave it, up to them. Easy work for amazing fun for players.

Just add Cups to the crystal inventory, allow us to enhance them to PEN and increase the variety of effects for each accessory slot(species damage, accuracy, more special attack type, DR, evasion, cast/attack Speed, max black spirit energy, life skill exp/mastery, item drop rate, etc). EZ, end-game build variety is fixed.
You can easily make new cup material drop at new or existing spot or use current material(looking at you Despair) for new crafting recipe.
Removing crystal break and adding crystal enhancing is also another decent option.

Thats how the world works people who can't speak their language become helpless while people who can speak clearly can get the help they need.
Regarding Global Releases: It needs to be said that while the west did get the DP & Evasion rework. It caused guilds to dismantle, people to quit, and PA to lose revenue. This would not have happened if KR got it first and the changes were polished. If we want to get global releases for drastic overhauls into existing systems, we must be more impactful in our responses and feedback. This is of course reliant upon PA listening to our feedback. So until we can mend that relationship between western audiences and PA, I do not want global releases of system overhauls.
Imagine grinding that much for not even doing pvp, I will never understand that.

@@KryeRulez yep you are a victim of careful mental manipulation and dopamine triggering game design by the devs for you to keep playing and spending money on the game.
Other mmorpgs give you sense of progression without infinite grind. Really hard bosses that few can kill, challenging dungeons, mythics in wow, solo deep dungeon challenge in ff14, ranked equalized pvp in gw2, ect.

It feels like such a waste given how amazing the combat system is. I played this game a bit when it released on console and the PvP is what made it the first game I bought when I built my pc. I’ve always seen it as a PvP mmo and I don’t really get what draws players in if not for the PvP

ive been wondering if maybe you can bring this topic in the next UN podcast and maybe ask the korean players there about the character sliders for female characters.. its just that ive always been anxious about the next female characters that would come up because ever since nova made an appearance all of the female characters body type have been standardized into this skinny ones and we cant make the female characters as thicc as the ranger or the DK anymore, so i was wondering if the korean players in the UN podcast knows anything about this. because if they really did standardized all the new female classes body type from here on then i would stop expecting and would just focus on the old classes and wouldnt be playing the new female classes that would come out anymore. maybe you could ask them if korean players hate thicc female characters thats why they standardized it to skinny one?
i remember why i liked debos at first. they offered a "cheaper" alternative at tet to other pen accessories. they where the first accessories i build from scratch without the market. but it was just one of many options. pen wasnt needed unless you wanted to trade the ap for something else in uncaped pvp (lol). with the earring, that did not really chage. it was the dehkia and ulukita introduction that made pen debos interesting for pve. they forced everything else out.

I built tungrad and have a pen disto and it does fine. I just hated grinding ash. Ill buy a 3 piece debo (so I can go 3 debo 3 tungrad or whatever) when they drop a next level ap set and all you guys dump them. I'm 317 417 and the z buff lets me grind fine. I do capped war onlym, not that war is that fun anymore lol. Granted I am fine with not being at the top of the gear curve, but then again its been ez and I got to keep HOURS of my life.

There's going to be a large update this week. That's going to change DR and evasion. It is reccomend by a lot players that if you often swap classes. Go DR, if you're not sure. Go DR, you can play evasion classes with DR, but DR classes with evasion feels really bad.

I really hate the debo pigeonhole. They should've just added extra cups to all the accessories and released more gooner outfits for money.
Im in a situation where i just dont care that much anymore. I logg in, get the daily rewards and logg out. If i wanna do something more, i do it, if not, then not.
I have a 712 GS atm. and i dont know for what i need even higher numbers. I dont do PvP realy much, where most content is caped anyway.
And just to grind a bit faster to get a bit more money to buy things to, again, grind faster, seems like a waste of time for me personal.
I have some things that i stil would like to achieve, even for my Gear. But i dont care anymore if i get it or not.
For new content that they have to localize first, ok, it needs time with all the voices, but i mean they could just patch that in after some time and give us the Korean version with translated subtitles. Its nice they put the effort in it, but if that means we have to wait months for the content that we can watch on Streams/Videos and see everything but cant explore it ourselfes for a long time, is stupid.
I quit bdo after we had our first nw with the new system. Our alliance went from having 80+ signups every nw to 45 after that night and a week later we disbanded. Our guild apparently has 10 members online at any given time now, of which half are afk. Good job PA
46:54 , The tale of many a Korean F2P mmo from the late 2000s, early 2010s, and BDO is a product of that time period. Literally exact same patter, might be a KR thing. Right down to the KR-exclusive feedback and region release gaps, riding on some exceptional aspect of their core gameplay to keep players coming back until they don't. BDO devs definitely the best by far though...

you're only gonna need 1 accuracy accessory to be over 1k and thats with vipers. garmoth updated all the accessory's already if you wanna go mess around with builds

we should defo make petition or smthn to push it to devs, make it happen, its win for everyone, they dont need to develop any new spots, it could just be on old spots in helms so its close to central towns, there could also be some rare drops (either debo or maybe hammers wink wink) for lucky AOE when you are doing pvp
Why don't they just make it so Kabuas act as a base and the old artifacts become the specialization of stats.

Nobody on console has waited multiple years salivating for the next gen port just to go to... New World...
They should just copy some pve-sytems from GW2 , like the "Fractal"-Dungeons , world events and maybe even the PVP-battleground system with good rewards as an entrance point for PVP
or maybe just copy wow dungeons and raids but that would be harder since we dont have a trinity-system.
For real! we need Raids and group content!!! More dungeons that aren't puzzles. Give us the classic 5 room dungeons with bosses that require us to work together etc. Give us more reasons to party and play together instead of playing solo at the same time. And more gear options. And the open world PVP idea with the resources is a dope idea!
Odi and mountain are the best. Just for the atmosphere, landscape and mob types, not necessarily for the type/mechanics of the grind zone.

I'd say everything stems from the grindy aspect of the game...ofc you can't add 4-5 types of gear and making people choose, because it's not realistic - imagine having to grind 4-5x the amount of PEN blackstars and debos we already have to grind...
That's my opinion ofc, but I feel most of the time I have to sacrifice doing sailies or pvp for grinding, I'd enjoy all these aspects, but time won't allow it. If they added more items to the game without reducing the grind time required to obtain them, then it would be overwhelming for 99.99% of the playerbase (ofc there will always be a few exceptions out there).
Also, if you make the game less grindy, people will play even AoS for NO rewards, just for fun, but people are so desperate for silver that they want to min-max everything and proof of this can even be found in this video when Blue mentions "you lose money/hr just doing guild league"...when a game requires so much of a player's time, they will start to min-max everything and completely ignore any other content than the META, which sadly in bdo atm is grinding.
Thing is, THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION. You need AP for everything. You don't get to mess with other options unless you're going for a pvp tank build.
The only exception are narc earrings due to the kama damage.

Build diversity exist in BDO.. like you definitely can mix n match and not need to get debos at all
Heck yeah, give us our island back. Noone goes to pirates anyway, make it so good that its worth even if you are only grind for like 20 minutes and have a fiesta for the other 40 and it doesnt feel like you are wasting time. Spawn in some random Events that make you have to swap the rotation. Make Elite grinds worth it, there was a point where it was worth to grind the elites at rogues and iron mines for 25mil an hour.
If they kept shadow arena inside bdo to this day and kept maintaining it and making it better, on god bdo would be literaly THE mmo to play. Having another game inside BDO that was at that time the biggest hype with battle royales.

It is a bit frustrating that the map shows an entire new area right above the Valencia desert, but then we get an entire new continent on the other side of the ocean first
It's always weird to me when people always want to call out the PvP in most games and people not wanting to do them. But let's be honest video has a lot of strength there are PVP is top terror for people who like it, their PVE is very nice if you can find a good location and a kind of fix that with the realms. And then you got life skills which has people farming and doing all types of individual activities it's pretty much catering to all different types of players. And Tiffany honest it's just a few glaring issues that they have that they're kind of addressing slowly so I think one day they might actually eventually even get a word for the game. And that's a lot coming from me because let me tell you they have one of the best character customization editor that I have seen in a long time. If they allow you to change the shape of your body a bit more they would drive people over the moon but that would acquire them changing the armor which I completely understand that one to do. But overall I think they're going in a good direction, I did want them to do something though if they ever add more servers I want them to add to types. One just straight out PVP servers for half of them where you get bonus buffs or even rewards for PVPing other players. I think that was settle a lot of people blood lust that they have naturally and allow them to really battle it out at any time. And on the flip side of that I think they should have straight up PVE servers that are for people who really want to grind in large groups imagine you go to a zone to going grind and Robert can happen to join a party depending on how many people's in that zone is add it to a zone wide buff and you can't kill each other but it increases the drop rate of how many people are fitted into one area. Even if people are in one town and you're constantly doing farming or they're doing something with their workshops just little buffs that's increases The pool of certain items or gathering certain items. I think that would be a really interesting concept to put in and I think it would really rally up the community from everyone from different ends.
They can even make the black spirit take on a different form depending on those two servers One would be like a little devil in the oven will be like a little halo over it to you the show that you're in a certain server.

When you talk about the "fatal funnel" of game design, youre not actually talking about a development oroblem insomuch the playerbase deciding or discovering the meta.
In this case it's 100% developer though. They make the new accessories so much better than everything else that you have to have them to stay relevant. Also no armors come close to fallen god set, even eva helmets (zenith) which at c20 is still 10dp less than duo fallen. What really needs to happen is higher caphra level on green gear to catch it up in specialty ways.
new weapon, armor and accessories sounds like another nightmarish 1000hr grind. fuck that. i want rerollable upgrade paths instead ie: godr/black star, jetina, fg gloves/shoes.
i got a simple solution make different coloured debos with different set affects so on for accuiracy aon for dr and one for evasion
remove debos from certain dehkia spots and grind zones and replace them with these ones
even how much we rant about something on BDO, PA won't listen to us unless we are in korea or korians playing the game 😂😂😂

The thing I'm confused with is.. why they can't just keep the diversity with these new endgame items. Like with the artifacts... They could've made several endgame artifacts that specialzied in different things, and maybe keep kabua's as it is for an all around general purpose endgame artifact. The could've had other artifacts that focused on DR, or AP, monster damage, or what have you. Just take the current artifacts and upgrade those even... like.. it's so lazy to do this "one size fits all" thing like they did with Kabua's... it's not like it'd even take a lot of work, they don't have separate icons for different normal artifacts (other than lifeskilling), so just use Kabua's icon for the multiple endgame artifacts and change the name/stats. It'd be a little more work with the deboreka accessories, and armors.. but I feel like they could have done something not too complicated whilst keeping the diversity. It's just lazy, a company of their size should be able to have a team work on those item creations for ONE week, maybe two, to create the icons, names, stats, the material (flame or whatever) to make it, and where it'd drop. There's no way they're struggling to make content because they don't have enough devs to work on it, right? It really makes it seem like they're either just lazy or don't care about BDO anymore and are focusing on other things.
I want to add that they even ruined early game diversity with Tuvala... you go Tuvala into Boss armor into Slumbering Origin armor, that's it. And then accessories are basically Capotia, Distos and Jetina (maybe Tungrads now) -> Deboreka. That's it. Maybe you'll get Narcs. They streamlined the process too much and got rid of diversity. It seems like they're trying to get a little more diversity with the Tungrads, which are a step in the right direction IMO. But that isn't enough by itself.
there should be an option to hide pet names.... i hate seeing pet names flying around the screen..

The devs seem like they have no idea what they are doing, they are inconsistent with choosing a direction for the game. I'm currently 740gs and the debo grind is indeed very soul sucking.
Starting the debo grind killed the game for me. I barely play anymore :(

I've gotten to the stage where debos are my only upgrade but since they are such a pain to grind I've just stopped playing the game. Sold laytenn and bought lunar and that's where I'll chill until they can make the game fun again (copium)
