Hearts of Iron IV is a grand strategy wargame developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive. Released on June 6, 2016, it is the sequel to Hearts of Iron III and part of the Hearts of Iron series of grand strategy games focusing on World War II. The player may take control of any nation in the world in either 1936 or 1939 and lead them to victory or defeat against other countries.

I'm ashamed to discover that I know most of the commands covered, indicating my lack of HOI4 skills and unrelenting desire to cut corners
you are not alone, sometimes I just use it to check and see if I'm gonna win, if I am I just auto annex and kill some of my manpower
in my germany games i very often use:
tag HUN
set_ruling_party f
add_party_popularity f 100
tag GER
on hungary.... because they almost never turn fascist automatically and im too lazy to influence them
I used to use the commands when i started playing the game (i have no ideia how to play the game back then) so that helped me a lot to learn basics of the game and continue playing until i learn pratically everything.
Now i use some "Toolbox" mods that can change state, core, etc very easy and make some really interesting cenarios like, China with all states (Including Hong Kong and etc) against Japan, France with Belgium and Spanish Catalonia, or England with all african provicies cores against America and many more!
Is really fun if you already tried a lot of mods and have more than 1000 hours into the game!!!

Or you do the second vienna award and give them northern transilvania, they will be more than willing to join the axis after that

Some commands I missed:
gain_xp = levels up the general you are selecting
set_owner = changes ownership of the state you are selecting
fuel = GIMME FUEL GIMME FIRE GIMME THAT WHICH I DESIRE

can you do an eu4 game
XP command benefit the most. Seriously this shit is quite hard to get playing as minor and political power command because with my toaster I need to wait months to get decent amount of pp
Turn off ic before pressing play again, i believe that makes the ai not able to construct

instant_prepare : instant prepares all the naval invasions
instant_training : instant trains the army
instant_wargoal : as y’all get it, completes war goals instantly

@@DaveFeedBackGaming If you activate debug mode a large majority should work, I do believe instant_prepare requires it
Fun fact: if the tilde key does not bring up the console with your language's keyboard layout, then pressing Shift+Alt+C simultaneously is guaranteed to work in HoI4, Stellaris, and probably CK3 (though I don't own it to check), as well as any of the other more recent Clausewitz Engine games.

My problem was I had no f***ing idea what Ironman was, I had just bought the game, and I came across a tutorial that said untick Ironman mode, so grateful for that

I did instant construct with everything research and didn’t realize it affected everyone and the major nations had around 5,000 ships but they were all garbage and I used modern ships with best stuff and melted all of them. The battle results were ridiculous.
if you type ic and construct everything you need and type ic again to disable it you will be only one who was affected by it.
So my luck is that bad 😂 I did the same things you did and got melted instad (navel battles) 😅

I once did "annex all" as Germany to see all of the SS recruitment decisions and my game froze for 5 minutes

Not any one command, but the tip with the tab when entering a letter is my favorite.
You see, some mods(like TNO) introduce new commands (for new variants and modifiers) that aren't part of the original list.
Also, the occupationpaint is pretty useful.

You can also do gain_xp to level up your generals/ fieldmarshals to lvl9. Pair that with the trait cheat and you would really have the god general.

ae is a good one for adding specific equipment except ships. Rename your equipment to make the command quick and easy to type. Change the name of the guns you’re producing to GUN, then in the console type: ae GUN 10000

Allowdiplo is also a good one. Allows all diplomatic actions regardless of ideology limits or world tension. For example you can declare war instantly or join the allies in 36 as America. You can also invite counties with different ideologies to your faction if you pair this with yesman.
I think yesman does the same
@@DaveFeedBackGaming They have some overlap but not exactly the same. For example yesman alone won’t let the USA join any faction in 36. Allowdiplo + yesman will allow you to join any faction as USA in 36. Also allowdiplo will let you declare war instantly.

I'd say the only one useful missing is reload focus
But this one can get tricky because at least for me i can get hiccups and crashes when something big like the scw is starting. But it's nice when you have a nation weak nation and want more building slots/research slots.
ale is the only thing I didn't know about, I usually spent hours trying to buff ethiopia just because I wanted a challenge in defeating them.

you could also just click on a province and type in setowner (your country tag) and it takes it without typing the id stuff in
If you leave IC turned on and unpause the AI does weird stuff…navies build in a day. It’s strange.

Not just AI. Also your own navy. Queue up a whole navy, dont even have to assign dockyards to the orders. Activate IC. On 01:00 hours of the next day all the orders will finish instantly. It's a lot of fun to play as a minor and getting invited to the London naval treaty because you have more battleships than UK has destroyers. Fuel becomes a problem tho

Funny I didn`t know the occupationpaint command. I usually used the teleport command to do something similar
I want to use the command to avoid focus restrictions so I can relive the good old days of doing both the remilitarization and the civil war with germany.
You could even do Rhineland, revive the Kaiserreich AND establish free elections at the same time. Now its not possible anymore. :(

You actually missed quite a few, like the fact you can write "OP" to occupation paint, the fact you can select a state a write setowner [country tag] to make a country own a state, the fact that IC builds ships, and probably the most important, ae [amount] [equipment type]
Edit: also allowdiplo is an objectively better version of nocb, and instanttraining is very useful to train Armies.

ah, the "why is this even an option?" command.
You skipped over ae or add_equipment, which is pretty great if you wanna give a country a bunch of specific equipment, for example, giving one of the spanish sides during their civil war a bunch of shitty tanks or shitty airplanes without having to lend-lease. Or alternatively you could give yourself a bunch of really shitty guns/tanks/planes and send them over as volunteers or just lend-lease them.

You can get the tdebug tool in iron man if you want too.
@@kylerowsley It is possible but I'm not sure if it helps much. Though not only does tdebug work in singleplayer but also multiplayer.
@@gamespy0420 I came to the same conclusion, but I haven't tested it much further. I just thought it might be able to reveal troop movements or factory count if I actually tried to look into it.

as a side note: DO NOT LEAVE IC ON. other wise you'll end up with a super powered Soviet Russia, USA, UK, and France which is a pita to fight......unless you want that........

As a cheats user, I can confirm that pp (political power) and cp (command power) are my favourite commands.
Teleporting tool means makes HOI4 as real-time strategy game.
I like playing HOI4 like a sandbox,making custom scenarios and playing,remaking empires,etc...
being able to to assign general traits for free seems best, wojtek but op sounds good fun
Of the 1000 hours I have on the game, I'm sure 700 of them are using op mods or console commands

How exactly does the threat command work, will the added world tension be treated as if it was caused by the country you are currently playing as (in this case, Bulgaria) or is it an overall, "non-affiliated" world tension? Since you mentioned as an example that you could have France cause 100% world tension.

Pro-tip: ic also lets you speedrun a navy by completing each ship in your queue every day, so you can have 7 dreadnoughts if you leave it on for 7 days. AI might take advantage of it too
or put one of 7 shipyards on 7 different dreadnoughts and finish them in one day.

Sometimes I just complete all the navy research of the major countries navy. Just bcz I don't like navy research first of all it takes a lot of time. Plus it takes a lot of time to build ships.
Which is why I complete the navy research of major counties.

One that helps me out a lot with time and role play games is setowner command. But there is kind of a secret way to use it. Normally you can use it like this. setowner [country tag] [state id]. But another way you can do it is by being one nation and clicking on a tile and then just typing out setowner and hitting enter. Whatever country you are currently playing as will now own the tile without having to type out the tag or state id so if you really want to paint the map but not just annex everything, this is an easy quick way to paint some boarders up. You just need to tag over to the country before doing it but its way faster than typing out the tag and state id every time.
You can also do this but with a tag to give the province to a country you are not playing
2300+ hours or so and I've never used a console command
You people could do all this typing, or just download the Toolpack mod

I always wanted to see what HOI4 would do if the game had less countries to deal with, like no south America, or no Africa. maybe you can 'mod' them into one big continent spanning country.
Most of Africa is a colony though, so they don't really even count to start with.
Apart from that: Tag MEX, Annex BRA, Annex VEN, Annex ARG, etc...
Some of these could be done through mods like toolpack
