Look for modeling jobs close to home, build a portfolio and save your money. Eventually you will have enough to cover flight costs and as a bonus, you will be more experienced and have something to show for it. If for some reason modelling doesn't work out for you in New York, you can always go back to Canada and do more there and take it to higher levels, branch out.

There were absolutely no rules, guidelines or even a hint of what to and what not to photograph, let alone anything about whether you should wear makeup or not. Models wear tons of makeup. And it usually takes around the same amount of makeup or even more of it to make a person look like they aren't wearing any but are naturally model quality, perfection.
