so i live on the mainland and stay on kauai 5 months year; how to i make it look like im living there so i pay less property taxes? can i set up an llc and make the home of it in kauai? would that work?
First...legally I'm not allowed to give tax advice so check with your CPA. What I've been told is if you want your real estate taxes to reflect being a primary residence you need to file your personal taxes in the State of Hawaii and claim Hawaii as the state you live in.
Great info - property taxes there are really low compared to the rest of the country - for a primary residence that is. 🤙
