This is such a braggy concept - "my songs are so well written that the lyrics and the chords are enough to fill an arena". Of course he has the songs and chops to back it up. Truly one of the best artist of our time.
John Mayer is such a super artist. His fan rapport and interaction is through the roof. He's always heart to heart with his audience while he's delivering the highest of levels performance. It's so cool and generous. He gives. I love it. Love him
Sing Bae, I 'm going to the show on the 22 of this month at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Hope he will sing this one as well. So magical, his voice is amazing!
Thank you so much for posting this! Was at this show, hoping like hell he'd play Clarity and he did. Got a clip but not the whole song. So nice to revisit it :)
I love John so much it's sad to see that he really seems to struggle hitting the higher notes/falsettos now. As a younger adult, to see your idols grow older, it hits.
It's funny, I felt what you describe very much in previous years (maybe 2015-2020), but saw him last week and was blown away by how much vocal work he's clearly done to get back to a high level. If you watch his very early videos between 2000-2005, his overall vocal ability was perhaps more dynamic and able to hit high notes through brute force. But even correcting for the highly breathy vocal sound fad that caught on in those years from those earlier videos, I honestly think his voice is improved in many ways, and he's come a long way since his vocal issues post 2013. He's also kept up at a high level with the guitar playing and IMO is more tasteful and versatile now than previously (I'm sure largely in part to his work with dead & co) That's not to say he's perfect, or that I blindly like every note he hits, etc. But my takeaway from seeing him last week was a sense of admiration for his continued effort as he ages gracefully (and he's still got many good years ahead - he's only 46 after all) and from what I see he's very careful to take care of his vocal and hand/arm + hearing health in a diligent way, which I as a musician also do Just sharing my more-optimistic take of the same topic you commented about
@@Phishcactus def didn’t mean to demean him in anyway, i’m a huge fan. but i’ve been watching his live performances for years. he’s simply not getting up there like he used to. his voice naturally likes a lower range i assume? so i think the boyish vocals from older songs just don’t suit his voice as well anymore in my opinion. but i still enjoy his performances a lot. there’s a decent 3x5 video that’s great.
Well said, yes I understand, he's definitely lost some range --- and the vocal chords definitely show some wear & decline with age, as with everything else in our bodies! @@thepedrosampedro

Timeless song. One of his many.
It’s so weird that in this video he almost looks the same as when this song released!

He shouldn't be ashamed of the sacred in month of june. Personally, I think of the summer solstice as a sacred time.
I think he was just personalizing it, as this concert took place in October. He made a few changes to the lyrics in this rendition to make it special.
@@metwin09 he had an interview clip from years back where he specifically hated that line and always feels stupid singing it.
@@tylerm5774 ohhh gotcha. Thanks for the context
