It's always fun when vtubers do a face reveal because it's super wholesome to see them be so nervous and scared about how there community reacts but then there community just gives so much support and love. One of the greater things in the vtuber communities.
I'm of the opinion that if they do the face reveal themselves, then it kind of takes away any of the fears of having their stuff leaked. It's a personal preference for them of course, and they probably value their privacy. After all there are still some vtubers out there who we know NOTHING about their IRL appearance.
Tbf people will set expectations based on looks despite being constantly told to “never judge a book by it’s cover.” I’m not a 10/10 looking person but based on experience back in high school a friend told me that my classmates called me a “waste of good looks” just because I didn’t follow the trendy stuff or acted differently to them, I’m a gun nut/weeb

I don't know who needs to hear this but: You are the other person that you appreciate and give forgiveness to for not being perfect. Treat yourself the way that you would treat a friend, and not the way that you believe people would treat you if they knew every secret you keep. Everyone has something that they feel embarrassed or ashamed about; forgive yourself and just try to be true to you. You don't have to be perfect in order to be confident, and others will see that confidence in you as bravery and honesty. to quote the bard: "This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man."

Imagine keeping a secret from tens of thousands of people every day, people who know you have a secret, mingling with those people every day, and knowing that at least some of those people are RABID about finding out that secret. That would make anyone paranoid. That being said, there's plenty of reasons why a vtuber might want to keep their identity secret. For that matter, they don't NEED a reason - if they want to keep their identity secret they should, and that's all the reason they need. But some of them are really enjoying the con circuit, and it seems silly to be meeting thousands of fans IRL but keeping your identity secret online. And it takes the power away from the real creeps who would try to use the vtubers identity as leverage against them.
