T.V. Mohandas Pai, Economist, expressed strong views in an exclusive conversation with India Today's Anagha on the Karnataka reservation issue. He criticized the recent steps as regressive and illegal, particularly condemning the definition of a local according to the bill as outrageous. Pai raised concerns about the potential impact on investment, citing corruption issues and the destruction of Kannada signboards. He emphasized the need for the government to prioritize skill development and higher education for locals to attract investments and retain industries like the EV sector. Pai praised MB Patil's efforts while questioning the effectiveness of current subsidies and benefits, advocating instead for focusing on improving skills and education levels among local residents. He criticized the lack of subsidies for startups and highlighted infrastructure challenges in Bangalore, including delays in the metro project and issues with KSRTC buses. Pai concluded by labeling the policy as regressive, anti-people, and fascist in nature.

The kind of increased hatred I can witness in Bengaluru since Congress came to power is quite visible in daily life. Companies will hire anyone who's fit for the role. Leave aside Northern India or Hindi people, Kannadigas should think why there are more Telegu people than Kannadigas in almost any office in Bengaluru. The reason is simple that they're way ahead in higher education than Karnataka. So, reservation, bringing hatred on linguistic basis won't take you anywhere. Disrespecting people who have worked hard and are contributing to the economy of Bengaluru is becoming a new norm just purely on linguistic basis. In offices, there's no such problems, all fellow Kannada understand this and there's no discrimination at all. But, on streets, the average crowd is full of hatred. Even an autowala, a fruit seller will treat you as if you have taken his job, he will be rude, will try to charge you higher. It's so frequent that IT people avoid street vendors and either go to grocery shopping in hypermarket only or will use swiggy, blinkit kinda options. Anyone from Telengana and Andhra are doing better at running shops because of what's happening. Just go to any region around an IT park or around colleges and you'll observe this.

They cannot plan and execute programmes that will give more employment to the eligible and needy. They want to put the onus on giving jobs to the private sector so that the politicians and their henchmen can fill up vacancies with their own kith and kin. In Kerala they do it in all government offices, cop operative banks, colleges and schools etc. The left has taught congress how to construct vote banks. Dividing people on the basis of religion, caste and language and throw freebies to sections of them for votes, they know they can win elections. Better people understand their nefarious designs.

I wonder, he meant to say the education system in Karnataka is bad compared to other states. Other states have heavily invested in higher education and people from other states are highly skilled compared to Karnataka. There are hardly any education institutes in Karnataka and there are no skills in the colleges of Karnataka. People from other states come with skill and merit (Not by reference and internal politics in the private sector). He is not at all addressing the internal politics of the private companies and calling the people of the state which provided land and infrastructure as unskilled and less talented. What we have to see with our own eyes I don't know

Karnataka's higher education should definitely improve. On the other hand these corporations who have their offices in Bangalore should hire from karanataka colleges first not from neighboring states. IT bosses from out of state promote people who speak their language and Kannadigas are facing descrimination and losing their job in their own state. Some kind of priority and protection should be given to Kannadigas.

Let's talk on this topic.... Sir do you know that the entire railway department is filled up with Biharis who don't know anything about kannada nor anything about our culture... You'll hardly find kannada people in South Western Railways... Bengaluru the hub of IIT center has recruited people from North and east and West but you'll hardly find karnataka people having good posts.. Let's talk justice for local people.. Let's be fair.. Government should take care of it's children first and then the neighbor's children.... So far we haven't had recruitment for karnataka people in Railways.... It's either Biharis Or people of another state but nothing for our kannadigas... Isn't it sad...How are they to survive in their mother land which cannot provide them a decent job? Please Sir...
