I think at this point in its life span Fallout 76 turned out to be a pretty fun game. It’s a shame that all the bugs and controversy killed a lot of its potential early on.
Apparently it was riddled with bugs, crashes and performance issues, when it launched. My brother and I started playing it 3 days ago and he had 2 game breaking bugs right after character creation. He even had to delete his entire character, because he couldn't leave his room. And when we finally met in front of the vault, his character looked nothing like it should. While scrolling through shop items, his game got stuck for like 30 seconds. He plays on PS4 and I play on PS5. Now this was an awful first impression and he stopped playing. I have to say, I didn't encounter any bugs. For me, the game feels exactly how Todd tried to frame it in this presentation and I'm actually falling in love with it. I guess the experience can vary to a great degree. As I didn't encounter bugs and have a smooth 60fps on my PS5, the game felt great. If I had to delete my character after molding his face for an hour, just like my brother had to do, I'd probably not be able to forgive the game either.

Really enjoying my time in the West Virginia mountains. 76 keeps bringing me back, I’m playing solo but having others around me in the world is a nice little touch. Played with a buddy years ago and I hated how barren the world felt. Now realising that is exactly how it was designed. You are reclaiming that wasteland. There are no other settlers or survivors and you are piecing together a story from paper trails left by the overseer. I really did not appreciate for what it was at the time, although. The wastelanders update is much appreciated and it feels like a traditional fallout game in a sense. Now I just need to get my buddy playing with me again 😢
