I tell myself this a lot and it's TRUE! My friends will comment on my sketches and I just tell them, "You think Picasso just woke up one day and painted a 10,000 dollar piece? That ain't how it works." And congrats on 50k btw!💖🥳🎉

I think scaling down has helped me improve a lot. I've always bought big sketch pads because that's what I'm used to, but I have been having so much fun drawing in a smaller sketch book. Just as well, thinking of each piece as an experiment -- having a growth mindset and critiquing myself -- has really helped me take the pressure off myself to produce something amazing every time I lay pencil to paper. You've given spot on advice here, Temi.

This was so helpful! Some people need more time like me, you need to take some time to chill and think about what there gonna do next! Even if you don’t have a lot of nice and expensive crayon, paints or tools, all you need is a pen and/or a crayon and a paper that’s all you need to keep in mind. Challenge your self to different things!

I found myself laughing when you said a piece always looks the best right after you've drawn it :D for me it's usually the opposite, especially with quick sketches; I can't bear to look at them right away, but a few days later I'm able to not *only* see the mistakes and often find they're good in some way that my more overworked pieces always lack. Of course, a year or so later I start noticing mistakes that I wasn't aware of at the time, but I think my eye is always so far ahead of my skill that I'm never truly happy with anything I make.

#8 Enjoy what you do. If you don't enjoy or love what you do, no amount of learning or practice will make good art. #9 Embrace your style. People cannot copy each other. They have a unique style of making a drawing or a painting. Your portrait drawing will be different than my illustrations. But each of us have our own unique ways of drawing.
    Good video.

I believe it doesn't matter what we do in life, we must always practice what we do. Everything right down to how we speak. I find that when I do not practice my foreign languages, I cannot maintain the fluency. If I fail to practice my music instruments, I cannot find the note automatically. If I fail to color, I cannot remember the layered sequence of how I got an exact color. So, I completely agree with what you are saying here! It's been almost over a year since I last used my camera before Covid, so I am having to remember what each menu means.

about the supplies: if you feel like your supplies are not getting your where your want to be, really try investing in something better. I used to use random pencils I had from school and I could not get them to blend. that was very frustrating. I really wanted to try out prismacolors and while yes, they are not cheap but: I have so much fun drawing with them and draw now a lot more, just because I have so much fun using them. so if you really feel like the material you use is restricting you, I know it can be a investment at first, but It can be very much worth it

@happydays if you still want help picking between pan pastels and markers, I’d say it depends on budget. A pack of ohuhu markers would work as a base and is cheaper to buy a larger range of than pan pastels. Pan pastels would be easier to blend and overall easier to work with if you have a larger budget.
