This is a really big misunderstanding in the theist side of thinking, no disrespect btw, but the belief that the big bang an event where nothing existed and then everything just came into existence is a really big misrepresentation of the big bang. The belief is that the big bang came from a singularity and in this singularity was the matter and energy that the universe is comprised of. we cant understand what the state of the matter and energy was because what the big bang did create was space and time as we know and understand it, but we know that the energy and matter existed. In my belief, Matter and energy is what is eternal and the belief that its ridiculous to think matter and energy is eternal is extremely problematic. Something we can say for sure is that something has to be eternal, so putting our belief into something that we can understand as eternal rather than a deity that exists outside of space time shouldn't be an unreasonable line of thinking for theists to understand. Antoine Lavoisier who was a french chemist discovered the Law of Conservation of mass which finds that mass can not be created nor destroyed, and the first law of thermodynamics which states that energy can not be created or destroyed was developed by many scientists over time but most notably physicist Rudolf Clausius. Through both of these observations, not theory's, but observations of reality, we can come to some sort of conclusion that this is the eternal existence that all reality stems from. Ill leave you with something to think about as well, I would say that it is actually believers who believe that everything came from nothing. It is the Christian belief that god just spoke everything into existence, meaning that nothing existed and then everything just started to exist, which is something that I find hard to believe. I think it is much more probable that matter and energy have always just existed and were never created by anything.
