Paris has its fair share of palaces and chateaux, but few can compare to the elegance and history of Le Meurice. This Parisian Grand Dame has been welcoming guests into some of the most sumptuous and breath-taking suites in all of Paris since 1835, and almost 200 years later, continues to do so. But how did Le Meurice manage to capture its guestsâ interest and admiration for almost two centuries now?
This week, Grand Luxury wanders around Le Meurice, meeting with the individuals responsible for preserving the hotelâs sense of identity whilst always trying to appeal to the future generations. Designers and artisans across generations have joined together to bring their own little touches of creativity and novelty to the hotelâs classic look and atmosphere.
In this new episode of The Visit, Grand Luxury Hotels met with the individuals such as Charles Jouffre and CĂ©dric Grolet, who contribute to maintaining and reinvigorating the spirit and identity of Le Meurice, all the while, under the direction of the General Manager, Franka Holtmann, who makes sure that the palace remains the abode of elegance and artistic expression that it has always been.

French is the most beautiful language in the world. Listening to it spoken is like music to the ears. Just gorgeous!
The world is full of jewels but I'm convinced that in Paris you can find the finest... What a masterpiece!!! All your videos are amazing, thanks for all your efforts! đ
Thank you very much for your kind comment!
I love the french provincial style, it is my favorite, I love Louis xiv, Rocco, and french antiques
History and creativity
To show a hotel in a video is no big deal. But what you accomplish every week is exceptional! You not only show the rooms, the gardens and the views, you show the people behind the scenes, the history and splendour of the most beautiful hotels in the world. This video clearly showed the artistry of the people involved and their enthusiasm to create something truly unique. If I continue to watch the pastry chefs I am afraid I will gain tons of weight just by imagination LOL Very well done!!!
Dear Susanne,
Like always, reading your comments means a lot to us. You seem to totally understand our work and what we want to do with our videos: Bring travelers just a little closer to the hotels in our Collection: what makes their character, soul and magic... And for pastry chef Cedric Grolet and François Deshayes, how can you not fall in love with his colourful creations? đ
Topclass
Thank you very much

I wonder if there was a slight mistake in the subtitle translation. Various persons in the video keep referring to 18th century France, but the hotel did not begin until the 19th century. Maybe the French express the centuries a bit differently?
Thank you very much for your comment. In fact, the hotel dates back from 1835 (19th century) but the decor is a typical 18th century style and Charles Jouffre and Lally&Berger worked on this 18th century French design to embellish the Meurice
When was this video filmed?
This video was filmed in May 2021.

Ah great. Herzlichen Dank fĂŒr Ihre Antwort!
MY GOD! Why did you get rid of all of the beautiful pastels and gold? The white and grey are HORRIBLE! It looks like a luxury insane asylum. How awful!
Thank you for your comment. We hope you will appreciate our other videos where we leave Paris for a sunnier destination...
I had one of the most horrible dining experience at the Le Meurice Alain Ducasse. Unedible bad food and horrible service. Because of this you cannot even pay me to stay here. A hotel is not luxury if there is no matching good service.
The best hotels in Paris are De Crillion and Ritz.
J'Taime Le Maurice!
I guess their idea of making the hotel more contemporary is painting everything white and installing mass-produced furniture. They have spoiled
the ambiance of this grand hotel which was once very elegant and refined, but now is just another generic "luxury" hotel.
Dear Paul
Thank you for your comment and for sharing your opinion. Every change brings with it its share of disappointment but in our opinion, Le Meurice is far from being a generic hotel.
Charles Jouffre and Lally & Berge did a wonderful job modernizing the hotel while keeping its sense of history so strong. A clever mix that allowed to create a contemporary comfort in a decor of the 18th century.
