    • @TheElectek

You could further this by going through pricing, when you price m2 to brick or block, and when looking at the job/plans if there is slow work or tricky work how would you price that in the overall job. I do a m2 count and if there is slow and tricky work I charge more based on that. Some people do a solid count through opes and charge, some charge per lintel and cills in opes with a cut off point if the opes are very big. Curious to what way you do it. Great channel, looking for forward to seeing it grow brother. 👍😁

Great advice - also remember if you drop your price others might expect too and don't take on more than you can realistically handle. I've known firms that take on too much get out of their depth and either struggle or go under.Weather can be a make or break at times and make sure you have a fair amount of finances to fall back on if someone knocks you or things just don't go right.Know your limit and as the man said sometimes best to walk away and not start a job at all.

I really needed this. I recently took on a porcelain patio project for a commercial company under another subcontractor. I was only priced to lay the porcelain. I followed lines set by the commercial contractor as instructed as the sub base only stretched to these parameters. I laid nearly half the job and the works were not square at a branching footpath point which were pointed out by myself earlier. To which the contracts manager said I'd be fine adding a slice and branching off. The client picked this up and realised the original setting out was wrong. I completed my works in the morning and was set to continue the path as instructed. After the realisation all work had to be ripped up and I lost out on the rest of my day. This happened today and I still haven't had conformation on pay or amendments to my price with cleaning and relaying the tiles.

Jobs have to be priced differently. Some jobs you will charge per brick and block. Highly detailed work is harder to price and sometimes i prefer to agree a day rate or try and estimated how long it would take and give myself some grace. Either way make sure its all agreed and everyone happy before you start.
