- I know there's a million versions of The Flower Of Scotland already posted, but this version will always be my favourite because they sang it so beautifully in this recording, from their hearts.

Through the years, I come to hear this Song. I think it's the most powerful and heartfelt hymn of ALL. My respects to Scotish people. One from Argentina.
Being an Australian of Scottish descent I get quite emotional when I listen to patriotic Scottish songs. My paternal grandparents were McLeods from The Isle of Skye and I guess I must have a lot of Scottish in my soul. Roddy McLeod.
Inherited memories, I believe. The first time that I went to the village from where my immigrant ancestors left, I experienced an uncanny feeling of melancholy and death vu. I just stood in the street and bawled.
Up the Mcleods!
My citizenship says Australian, my blood runs Scottish
Skye's beautiful!
Let us weep and rejoice together! We shall destroy that bloody queen yet!!!
Saw the Corries Live in Edinburgh in spring 1974... Loved everything they sung but this song was just the best! Loved that year in Scotland!
I wish people would stop slicing onions when I'm listening to this...
I pour up swartz
Roy Williamson R.I.P. A true Flower of Scotland.
If he done a piece with the late great luke Kelly that would be an album that I would buy many a times
Beautiful version, I have just discovered the Corries.
Such beautiful voices, They make me so proud of my
Scottish ancestry.
I grew up with the Corries. My dad used to play this beautiful, sensitive version of the song (and others) on a casetteplayer on a lazy sundaymorning. Happy to hear it again, instead of many sing-along versions.... Brings back good memories. Thank you! To me the Corries and their music represent the soul of Scotland, a country I feel deeply connected with.
exactly my sentiments ,less is more
O Flower Of Scotland,
When will we see, your like again
That fought and died for
Yer wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again
♡♡♡ ♡ ♡♡♡
The hills are bare now
And autumn leaves lie thick and still
O’er a land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
That stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again
♡♡♡ ♡ ♡♡♡
Those days are past now
And in the past, they must remain
But we can still rise now
And be the nation again
That stood against him
Proud Edward's Army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again
♡♡♡ ♡ ♡♡♡
The hills are bare now
And autumn leaves lie thick and still
For a land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
♡♡♡ ♡ ♡♡♡
Oh Flower Of Scotland,
When will we see, your like again
That fought and died for
Yer wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again
♡♡♡ ♡ ♡♡♡
Thank you
Thank you

One of my parents' favourites. They are both gone now but the song remains.
those harmonies in the 3:03 verse ... oh my god O.O
This song takes me to scottish Lands. I Will travel again to Scotland! 🙏🙏🙏
OMG...what idiot gave this song a thumbs down!!! Of all the versions of Flower of Scotland, The Corries is easily the best. The passion in which they sing makes me cry every time. When I hear it in public, I get goosepimples and my heart bursts with pride being Scottish ♡♡
Well of course the Corries would sing it the best, it's their song. It was written and first recorded in the late 1960's.
10 dislikes as i write this. From 10 idiots... Or, more likely, 10 englishmen. (Which, I suppose, is the same thing really ;)
@@Albimar17 Send them home again......
Brilliant song, evocative and meaningful but England doesn’t have a monopoly when it comes to idiots.
Yo sr d them home keep them a mm grand req 😢😢 and require that they learn and sing and teach their children flower of Scotland and Scotland the brave😊
Nd The brave Scotland
Miss you Roy Williamson xx R.I.P.
Easily one of the best versions I've heard!
THE BEST
Oh YES!! I still get a little choked up when I hear this beautiful Scottish Anthem....Me being a Scot and all. OMG, goose bumps again!
Sung by the genius that wrote it the late and truly great Roy Williamson accompanied the equally brilliant Roy Brown. Between them they were The Corries and Scottish folk music has never been the same since Roy passed away and Ronnie retired.
grats on the win yesterday...38 year wait is over.....ire fan
A tribute to Roy Williamson R.I.P.
To live for ever as the new Anthem.
The great Corries - their great song sung in glorious harmony where two voices intertwine to form a golden outpouring, such beauty in their voices singing together; no others have ever achieved this.♡♡♡ ♡ ♡♡♡
I'll change it. Thanks.
♡♡♡
You don't need to be Scottish to love this song. It is about national pride and acknowledgement of those who have gone before. I love The Corries. Sadly I only got to see them once. When I was a truck driver I resorted my drops so that I could be in Aberdeen on the night they were appearing. Gavin, Ronnie's son is now running The Corries website where you can buy a wide selection of memorabilia.
This song brings tears to my eyes brutha.
+Revolver Are Scottish? I'm English born and bred but I feel that my Celtic origins (father from Fermanagh) have made me particularly sensitive to songs and poetry which speaks to the human condition. I proudly wear the 2007 tartan cap created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the writing of this song. If you haven't already done so do visit the website.
Terry McCaffrey I love English folks. In fact my wife is from London. We're not all bigots who hate the English by the way. Hahahaha
+Revolver Good Man.
+Revolver Same here. Jock born and bred but my wee ones mum is fae Winchester. No regrets and will teach them to love no hate :)
To be sure, one more version posted on the internet won't harm! Greetings from an Irishman living in Wales - love going down to the rugby club to watch the Ireland-Wales game each year. Always followed by the Calcutta Cup: win, lose or draw you should hear us all belting out this tune!
Great arn't they,There will never enough of this song.
The anthem more beatiful Ive heard .
From another expatriate Scot. Pure Genious !
version I grew up with. thank you so much for this upload.
Wouldn't Roy be *proud to know his song had become the National Anthem? (*Pride: a concept conceived in Scotland).
great song I love it
My country, my song. ALBA GU BRATH
Congratulations
Beautiful anthem the best.
I From Brazil.🇧🇷
Thank you for the Longshanks explanation. I couldn't figure it out.
I know hundreds of versions of this Anthem of Scotland. But this is the most beautiful I heard for about forty years! "You can still rise now and be the nation again!"
I am a son of Saxonians and Vikings! I will follow Odin and wil meet sometimes all brave Scots in Walhall!
Go and lie down
Luckily, being Glaswegian, we were weaned on The Corries, The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, The Dubliners, Guthrie and Dylan. It's in my blood.
So many comments on how good a ‘version’ this is. This is the ORIGINAL version. Scotland unofficially adopted it as their national anthem over Scotland the Brave. Both songs have their merit but you can see why this was the popular choice!
Love Scotland...
beautiful and haunting...
Finest rendition of our National Athem.🏴
Long live Roy and Ronnie ! When will we see yer like again ?????????? Soon, I hope.
+Alfie Ward Sadly Roy Williamson died a good few years now, but there music and Roy will always be in our hearts...
I doubt their like will be seen again.
best anthem of all
Dear Scots
Please vote for independence in 2014!!!
God Bless Beloved Scotland!
I have tears in my eyes listening to this poignant song!!!

@@callyy. we don't want a murderer running our country ,or the pervert who taught her every thing (12 women didn't lie) or the pervert who couldn 't leave 16 year old boys alone and get paid for it ,or the one who tells us to lockdown while she goes where she pleases . These are all just tip of the iceberg the rest is kept hidden just now ,it will all come out If you don't like living here, GET OOT take the rest wae yi
Shut up!!
So gentle. I think this is my new favorite version.
He wrote it...the younger one....and is no longer alive.
yes yes yes
The only version that comes anywhere near this is from Murrayfield on 17th March 1990.....SUPERB
Not for the no voters. Bit ironic looking at that iconic team singing a pro-independence song and yet voting against it.
And we shall rise again.
O flower of Scotland.
One day soon 🏴🏴💙
Aye she murdered 3000 of us old people just to get independence ,because she and the likes of you ken thit we ken better

@mandolinda6 Thanks for this. This is my favourite version too (the version I remember from BBC Scotland as child).

The people who dislike this must be miserably English

Stand up fellow Scottish folk
what album or recording is this version from? I LOVE IT
For my mum xx
yep
O hino da Escócia é muito lindo.
When my DNA test revealed that I am 60% Irish, Scottish and Welsh, and 0% English, then I fully understand why I absolutely love this song, although I love England where I was raised. Maiden Surname : Philp
The North would stand with Scotland! Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle would stand with the Scots 💪🏻 🇬🇧
Thanks am scottish
We love England! It's Westminster that's the problem!
@@thacabbagekid very true, its never been an anti English thing, its the fact that the union is unfair, maybe 1 day we will have independence and not part of the uk, but geologically we shall still be a part of britian and still european
We will stand with you anyway because of the british isles, maybe not as part of the uk, but as part of a great alliance within europe, an independent scotland will still be a part of britain
Dout it pal. God save the Queen.

I wish I could buy this version. Anyone know where it's available online as an mp3?
this version is on I tunes
Could I make a version of this song or would I have to pay royalties to The Corries?
Independence will happen for Scotland sooner or later & as an Englishman ( Northumberland, so just lol ) I can't wait for England to be independent as well, I don't know what all the fuss is about though, just get on with it !

Sixty years ago, as a D FOURTEEN YEARS OLD, I found a copy of "The Socialist Sunday School Hymn Book" from which I secretly coveted the words of The Red Flag. As an active socialist all my days I sensed, in the mid-1970s, there was a gathering storm which would change the political landscape of Scotland. It has come to pass. Today I still cherish The Red Flag but now do not hesitate to honour and to fly its replacement-the Saltire.
i love this , but as a scotsman am i not correct in saying the national anthem is still scotland the brave , Even though this is played at sporting events because it helps us with our dream of a free scotland .and not one thats getting dragged into the E.U. by salmond. I WANT INDEPENDENCE
but not going from one union to another which is being overlooked. thanx
You are incorrect. Scotland the Brave is the Scotts Porage Oats Anthem.
William Wallace was'the Flower of Scotland" I, 've read accounts of his execution, and frankly, it would gag a maggot.
No, this song is about Robert The Bruce, and his victory over Edward the second at the battle of Bannockburn.
@@Ropponmatsu2 You are wrong Wallace was The Flower of Scotland.
@@TheLittledikkins Too much "Braveheart." It's about Robert the Bruce, in that he WON. It's there in the lyrics.
Robert the Bruce did not win at Bannockburn for people in the youtube comments to confuse him with William Wallace
Some interesting comments so far but I always thought William Wallace won a fairly minor skirmish at Sterling Bridge while the Bruce gave the English a fair old belting at Bannockburn. I guess at the end of the day the song is about all the Scottish heroes who fought for their nation. I thought "Braveheart" was a load of crap though!
im welsh i love them but im half scott
Beautiful song.... Leys stay in the union as many of us have some Irish English or Welsh ancestry.. I had an Irish grandfather and English grandmother... But I am a Scot . Love all my fellow men as my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ asked us to
I dislike this slow version; it is tedious.
Listen to the irish lassie caitlin murtagh singing it the best version of all
Ye know what rhymes with the corries? The Tories😂😂
