  • I need to check the soil pH in the garden because something is up with the tomatoes I planted. The leaves are yellowing and I'm stumped. If you know what's going on leave a comment...thanks!

Also if you ph is good and it's good fertile compost, if it's been sunny and hot and those plants weren't hardened off good that could be sun scaled plants. Water them good and if need use some sort of a shade cloth. Thanks and good luck

A FaceBook subscriber said the same thing. Now that I think of it, they were hardened off in the shade of the deck. Thanks

I wish I felt up to planting some " maters " this season. I did like that tester. is it available through amazon? I love having new gadgets, tools and test equipment. its a man thing I guess. I enjoyed the video and subscribed for more.

Down to earth makes an excellent feed/nutrient booster. I love their products! I'm not affiliated with them. We've used their products for years and years now no problems. I use the one with the tomato on the box for them. Also you can spray fish fertilizer on them :) best of luck

Thanks for the tip. I'm thinking of going to a nearby pond and getting some seaweed to toss in the compost pile.

Clean Slate Farm oh okay. Mine did the same thing. They became scorched from sun. My ph and nutrients are good . Here in about a week is when I'd recommend adding nutrients or amendments. They don't seem too bad currently . Not wilted or anything. They will still develop their green leaves as they grow and eventually you can pinch off the white ones. Fish fertilizer for when they are more mature. And give each tomato plant about 1cup (good handful) of worm castings around base and water it in. You can do that now. On other things I'd wait about another week. That should do the trick :)

Clean Slate Farm if the dark good color -green leaves are above all the white ones then you should be good to give them a worm casting boost

Tomatoes are extremely hungry plants and need regular fertilising with balanced NPK fertiliser. Sounds like the Nitrogen may be low if the leaves are yellowing. Good luck getting them going again.

Macca Stacka I need to by a nutrient test kit. That may be it. Someone else said sun scalding and it's been hit and sunny for two or three days. Thx for the note

I think you have a lack of calcium . just put 2 TUMS for each tomatoe plant. also Epson salt could help.

Never heard of the tums thing...I'll put a few on a test plant to see what happens. Thanks

Maybe sunburn. You said it was really hot out. Did you acclimatize them for a few weeks before transplanting? If new leaves are green they should be fine.

Scott Gillespie Yes, outside under a canopy. Then into the garden after 1.5 weeks. Their fine now and growing happily
