Mia’s English is surprisingly very good, even though she said she spoke a little. It’s very clean. Her pronunciation is on point.
Yes, she'd have no problem being in the U.S. for example. She's considering moving to Australia, that will be a different experience with their accent and also their own form of English with slang terms.

I think Mia could make a very nice living as an English or Spanish-speaking guide. I speak Spanish and I understood what she said perfectly. A bit more conversation would increase her fluency by a lot. Mia, my wife and I will be in Tokyo in April, if you would like to begin your career as a guide.
She said she works at the bar most days. JE has a Japanese friend who also has a YT channel ( Smiley Time ) she DOES do guided tours, info. link for that in information section under the video on her channel( she is in Tokyo ). You need to book that in advance. She speaks English, as you'll see in her videos.

What a really great interview with Mia. I know, impolite to ask woman her age, BUT like Mairi-San, she must be in her 30s for all the time she has spent traveling abroard. My major problem while I was there, trying to make a date.😅
What Mia said was true even in 1957-1958. Grammar, spelling etc taught in Japan school for 3 - 4 years BUT no one to converse with in English. So they did not easily attempt to speak unless you pursued and got to know them personally by using sign language and limited Japanese.

I saw a lot of these places when I lived in Osaka but never went into one. plus they don't really allow foreigners in unless your japanese is very good. Easy to drop a couple hundred dollars in these places too.
