Yes, I used to fantasize too about the same thing till I decided to do it. It won't sound good at first time, but if you like to achieve that for real, you can. Just do it, commit mistake with the strings and fingers perhaps, do it once again, and then the same, till it sounds more or less good, and that time, you will feel soooo special, and so happy. Or at least me yes.

I could imagine a person in their 30s or 40s or 50s or any age at all, who may have never learned to play, but had perhaps always wanted to.... they may think it out of reach, and may compare themselves to all the other musicians who started playing at 10 or 12, or 15, or 18, or any age.... they may think that they are past time and never do it. In my opinion though, with an hour or 2 playing a day, one could learn some basics and most importantly become more comfortable on the fretboard and with strings, plucking and strumming etc. In no time at all. One could go online and print off guitar tabs, or just use a phone or tablet, and learn a lot in even just a couple few months.
