The past reports are inadequate as I remember on several attempts to making Constitutional recommendations in past administrations, the presiding President will always limit the players and tell them that they cannot deliberate on certain areas christened, "NO go areas". That is dictatorship and Al bi nitio frustrates the reason for the Conference in the first place.
So, there is a sure need for a no holds bar deliberation if this ever see the light of day peacefully and have it go through all the processes for IMMEDIATE implementation into LAW. We have played for too long as a people and country. We don't have time anymore before this country fragments.

Everyone is expert when it comes to criticizing Nigeria but nobody is capable of presenting factual information and practical solutions to the problem. I’d advise Nigerians to talk less and do more. Make yourselves productive. Plant maize or yam or potatoes next farming season and help boost food production. I’m sure that this will be a good start.

In order to appreciate Nigeria as an entity, we must desist from using the USA as an example.
This is because the USA was created by British and Irish warlords, who have conquered the indigenes and eradicated the original unique identity of the Red Indians who occupied the space now conquered by people who shared the same heritage from the British empire.

How on earth do you give immunity to a governor? Why should we be looking to abuja for everything? Why won't the local government take charge of their resources and pay taxes to the center? Why? Why should I depend on abuja for my protection in my village, not the local government police? Policing is local. Allow the people to decide how they want to be governed.

The last national conference was supposed to be the best thing that happened to nigeria if its recommendations were generally accepted by the political class,it simply did not work because of the selfish interests of some unpatriotic nigerians that were benefiting from the present constitution at the detriment of the entire nation and its people. We must take back our country from these unpatriotic elements, majorly the political class and others that seek to enrich themselves and cronies at the expense of the greater nation.

That is their views, they are not authorized to speak for the peoples of Nigeria. The fact is that we were not consulted before we were amalgamated in 1914. Nigeria doesn't need anything "New Constitution", but "Good Governance ". Nothing is wrong with the Constitution of Nigeria but the implementation of the Constitution by the politicians who are incompetent, incapable, lazy to think critically and being able to be creative, and bring about innovative ideas for better governance. Previous government has been empowering thieves, criminals, looters of public outright incompetent individuals for over sixty years (60) of political backwardness. Take a look at successful countries in terms of good governance like Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Rwanda, etc. Good governance is the hallmark of a good nation-building not the Constitution. Constitution is a reference document to guide leadership on its national directions for development, especially in a multi-ethnics, multi-religion, and a diverse country like Nigeria. Let's look first and foremost on ourselves individually, not a document of Constitution. We are to change our attitudes, mindsets, behaviors, ethnocentric bigotry, and ill-feeling against ourselves. Attitudinal change, perceptional change of mind sets, and start to thinking positively about ourselves.

The problem of Nigeria as country is not the constitution, it the mindset of the people. A new Constitution can never be the solution to Nigeria because that will not change the people. How will the constitution change for example corruption which cancer in the Nigeria? How will the constitution eliminate the social economic and insecurity situation in the country today? Common laws in Nigeria that are generated from the current constitution are never obeyed by Nigerians, how would a new constitution change that indiscipline amongst the citizens? The guest is a lawyer and he knows that Nigerians who commit crimes that he represents sometime in court do not indulge in committing those crimes because of the constitution. The easiest way to do away with a constitution is going through it item by item, page by page, adding what is necessary and deleting what is not necessary or obsolete. Many laws have been created based on the current constitution which will have to also be reviewed. There is a big difference between laws and cultural identity, criminal acts or activities currently in Nigeria are not based on which tribe the criminal come from. Therefore, the idea of the people's constitution should not be echoed in trying to justify a new constitution for the country. Laws are Laws and should be obeyed that everyone once the normal process to enact them are followed. The president in his judgement and assessment of the current situation in the country responded that the economy is is priority at this time which was not a complete decline of the request made by the Patriot Group. Infact the group has to be commended for the boldness and efforts. Perhaps if the organizers of the protest had approached the president similarly, they would gotten some responses as well. Embarking on the process of coming up with a new constitution while dealing with the current hardship and the reformation process in the country may even compound the chaos .The citizens of Nigeria are not the same as the countries the guest is pointing out to have done well after changing their constriction. Nigeria is a very complex society, with many languages, culture and religious difference. People from Indonesia are like people from the northern part of Nigeria that are banded by the same culture and religion, creating a constitution for the people will be a piece of cake. Nigerians must accept the country for what it is and stop comparing it to other countries. For example the Prime Minster of Bangladesh voluntarily left the country, has that ever happened in the history of Nigerian leaders? Of course not. Therefore, Nigerians should be careful when they cite what is happening in other countries around the world.

This is the fundamental problem of Nigeria. I will illustrate it thus: Your father gave birth to you and your 10 siblings. When you guys grew up and started your families, your father is the one that oversees the running of your households psychosocially putting laws that your children will follow as they are growing up. Of course your children will not really have any regard for you or your ways and your father can never effectively raise them in discipline and love as you or your wife would. Also, all your salaries are first submitted to your father and you get a stipend back to run your household. Furthermore, whatever comes out in the garden soil in your house belongs to your father but whatever you plant on the soil in the garden is yours. Tell me, how effective is that system in inculcating integrity, civic responsibility, sense of belonging and industriousness in you or your household in such setting? If you can answer me effectively, then I'll agree with your view that we don't need a "Peoples' constitution"

No Nigeria needs regionalism with state policing, mineral rights, controlled by states. A fg that controls the military, and, economic policies. And each state needs a specialty, for example Igbo ppl produce cars and pharmaceuticals.North produces agriculture and mining. And Yoruba dominates textile market, as, well as shoes. South south controls oil. This way Nigeria wouldn’t need to import from any country in the world, and could export in surplus.

U can't compare Nigeria to USA bcz Nigeria is multi cultural country not monocultural country, bcz USA is monocultural country were 76% of USA majority speak the same language, so in Nigeria we have different languages everywhere so we can't be one anymore, so regional system is the best for us to practice like before, so by doing that break up Nigeria is very easy, ibo people are the one kept us to this unity's system of Nigeria 1966 they are the one suspend regional system of government we will practices before..

Rather than the New Constitution Rollercoaster and hullabaloo, in my opinion I feel the Legislators should enact a law on Continuity of Government policies and should only be changed if the upper and lower chambers 2-3rd majority agrees on it.
Short lived policies is our Major problem in Nigeria, because projects instead of being completed are abandoned and others start immediately with huge sum of monies, complete then you start another.
Continuity in Government policies is the key to maximizing Nigeria's Socio-economic potentials.
