  • Gayatri Mantra is a Maha-mantra and appears across all the four Vedas. It is also known as Veda Maata (Mother of the Vedas). Extremely powerful in nature, it has a capacity to transform lives if chanted correctly. It dispels all the ignorance, doubts and darkness within us and helps us shine in our true power. Though at an apparent level it addresses the Sun outside us, it simultaneously implies and invokes the Sun/ Soul or the light within us.
I request everyone to chant the Vedic version with proper notations that have come down since thousands of years, to get the transformatory results instead of simply repeating this Mantra in a sing-song manner. By doing so, you'll be generating precise frequencies that work on your system to being about the above mentioned changes. It's a sonic science.
This particular version of Gayatri Mantra is following the Yajurveda tradition and way of chanting.
Mahamantra Gayatri is popularly chanted with the MahaVyahrtis Bhuhu, Bhuvaha and Suvaha. To learn the correct pronunciations and notations of GAYATRI MANTRA - Samhita pathah, Krama pathah, Jata pathah and Ghana pathah, please visit our previous video at the link below:

CZcams can have innumerable sing song versions.... Stay away from them. Look for the ones which are chanted according to the Vedic Notations as that's a very precise sonic science.
Within the Vedic chanting of Gayatri mantra, you may find variations depending on which Veda it is taken from...for eg: Krishna Yajurveda tradition Gayatri mantra is what I'm following here. The Sāmaveda Gayatri mantra will be very different.
You may follow whichever appeals more or the one taught in your tradition or school if you follow any.
      Hope this helps.

@dhi1083. She has prefaced already that the notations and pronunciation is from some Vedic scholar in Chennai ( recitation based on yajur Veda). I think it can also be recited in different when followed the protocol under samaveda. Please, look more videos on CZcams, none of videos goes on detail like she has ( you can find another snippet of this video where she explains about the pronunciation). I think she's done her homework/research and knows exactly what she is talking about.

She has got it all wrong... even the basic things that are taught in schools..
In different styles the Rhythm changes not the pronunciation...
I am saying this after watching tons of recitation not just on youtube but also in personal...
watch the video titled "Gayatri Mantra As Per Rig Veda - Shringeri,Kanchi and Varanasi Styles" by Vinnith Pullavarayar
HE has shown clear pronunciations of every aksharas..

    • @RealmOfDamaru
      @RealmOfDamaru  Před 10 měsíci

Do share the video you mentioned... Would like to refer and keep learning. None the less, as you mentioned, it is chanted as per Rigveda so might have some differences from the KrishaYajurveda tradition. I do understand the difference between ba and bha and the other letters, the hrasva and deerghākshara, the rule for visarga etc. One more thing, I'm NOT a North Indian which you presume... But even if I were, let's be the people of Bhārata and stop fuelling this North South divide. Every region may have is own pronunciations... There are Kashmiri pandits as well... would you say they are North Indians so cant chant as pure as South Indians? I do value your feedback but not assumptions.

Gayatri mantra is powerful and sattvik. Chant it regularly. Do whatever Sadhana that your doing and have shraddhā. When you are ready, Guru will automatically appear in your life. Done go about searching a Guru... That way you'll never find a right one.

There are certain rules for chanting. Visarga, which is an expiratory sound changes when it is chanted in continuity with another syllable and the change applied depends on which syllable follows. Its a science of how our articualtion happens naturally and the rules are designed after deeply understanding our speech apparatus. I understand what you are saying here, but the rules for the written language and the oral/ spoken language are different.

You don't understand the context that's why you believe on people's claim that it's devoted to gayatri mata. No where name of gayatri is taken in mantra.
Nor the name of Shiva is taken in mahamrityunjay mantra.
Trambakam is attributed to Shiva. Today people call it "Tri-yambakam" and claim that "tri" indicates three eyed god called Shiva.
But Pandita Sayana Who wrote first commentary on Rigveda said, It means Heavenly Father and the Master of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. 😁
Sayana is considered authority on Vedas. He who understand veda on his own and reject sayana is a sinner.
Dayanand Saraswati began disproving Sayana on many occasions. That's why he was rejected by many Brahmins of his time and lost many battles with learned Brahmins of Varanasi.
Sayana was the chief scholar of vijaynagara empire the first true prospering hindu empire.
